Bar Harbor, Maine overview

The rising sun lights the top of Cadillac Mountain before any other spot in the United States, and on island-dotted Penobscot Bay, Bar Harbor welcomes you. Tall ships unfurl their sails while seals and porpoises play in the wide blue bay. Admire the rugged coastline preserved in Acadia National Park. Then watch as a traditional lobster bake is prepared, and enjoy a cup of wild Maine blueberries.

Loved this stop. My wife and I didn't take any tour, but took the ship tender to the dock at foot of the town. Shops and restaurants are an easy walk (though up a slight hill) from the tendering dock. I had a lobster roll at a restaurant just up a few shops from the dock. I would recommend going to the lobster pound and getting a whole lobster. The lobster pound is visible from streetside of the dock and a short stroll away. There are a wide variety of shops to explore and prices are reasonable.

This was my favorite port of the trip. The town looked so cute. I wish it wasn’t cold and raining so I couldn’t have explored. We took a bus trip through Acadia National Park and even in the rain it was gorgeous!
