Review summary

I feel that we expected more from the cruise. There were many dispapointments throughout the cruise. We do not usually have issues with the food, tendering service or bar service. There were also several nights that bar/lounges were closed which was inconveneient. We have tentative plans for a 35 day cruise on the sister ship which we are rethinking. The biggest reason we rebook is our agent from who is terrific.

Embarkation

We had all of our documents ready but still stood in line for 2 1/2 hours

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Specialty resturants were very good.Dinning room service was good however we sent back 3 meals which we dont usally do,the chef(who was very pleasant) spoke with us and tried to rectify the issues. The Lido buffet had some items that were obviously older items that were not fresh ie; hash browns, rubbery spinach chips, and soups without flavor. We never had chicken soup with soggy spahgetti added to the soup before-horrible! The only soup that we enjoyed was the butternut squash soup in the dinning room. There was also a terrible stench of bad fish in the entire common area lounges outside Rudy's resturant 2 nights in a row, this was acknowledged by the staff in the bar/lounge area.We told the receptionist there but taken lightly, (fresh fish does not smell). After that we had our coktails in the Dutch bar- much nicer.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Fittness center was very limited. No sauna or whirlpool

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Ship dance crew was very good, comedian was very good.Live rock band was very good.Overall we felt that the shows lacked variety . Stage was very small.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service from all staff was very good!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Cleanliness was excellent. Ship layout was very basic. Main stage was very small. We actually enjoyed some of the older HA ships more than this one.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin stewards were excellent, room was always clean and tidy.

Ship tip

Grab a chair in the forward croes nest lounge because it seems that people camp out there all day occupying the chairs with out anywhere to sit. Be prepared to wait for tendering to an excursion, it appeared to be very unorganized

Ports of call

Bar Harbor, Maine

3 out of 5
Tendering service was horrible which left little time ashore. The return tendering line wait was 30-40- minutes wait.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Weather was misserable but unaviodable

Quebec City, Quebec

3 out of 5
The location at port was a bit inconvenient with a shuutle bus to a drop off point to get to old town .The Norwegian Pearl was directly at the old town entrance. Was very tough to get a sunny seat in a outdoor cafe to get a beer.

Disembarkation

We had a 4;20 pm flight but had arranged the transfer through Holland America. We had the last transfer at 9am consequently waiting 5 hours at the Quebec airport- not fun.
