If you have booked a Fantasic or Bella they no longer have any drink coupons as they have changed to a per day drink package so unless you drink a lot it won't be worth it. Also for these two bookings there is now a $3.50 + delivery fee for coffee in the morning. I did complain and was able to get three of the charges taken off since it is not anywhere on the site of on any of the paperwork in the cabin. I will be sending an email to MSC headquarters about this.
Expect to figure everything out on your own and be prepared for rude people. There are a few great staff on this ship but mostly entertainment staff, and a few bartenders/servers.
You WILL meet a diverse eclectic crowd of people from all over the world (We love that about MSC) Some people do not care to interact with other cultures and they get tired of hearing annoucements in several different languages other than English. We LOVE this about this ship and those we have met from other parts of the world have been wonderful to talk to and get to know. We are better for having met them and getting to know their life and culture a little better. If you want to be catered to as an American on a multi-cultural ship do NOT go on this ship. Go be catered to by another cruise line. MSC is working with a large diverse audience of consumers and they are doing quite well with it being this new going out of American Ports
It is a HUGE ship so wear comfortable walking shoes and get a cabin close to elevators so you don't spend ten minutes just winding your way around and down to the elevators. If you need special water, bring your own, along w/a doctor's prescription so you do'nt rely on the ship to bring it to you.
I love MSC. It’s my favorite CruiseLine after getting on others such as Norwegian and Carnival. My only advice is to prepare to spend extra on activities such as the arcade, zip lining, bowling, 4D movies, and others such as alcohol and specialty restaurants if packages aren’t purchased by first or second day of the cruise.
Go yacht club. Go yacht club!! You get priority over everyone on the ship. The food is 100 times better and service. You are always reading mixed reviews and this is why. Spend the money on yacht club and you won't regret it. Do the math on a drink package and the difference in yacht club and you will see. My example of service. A pair of my underwear was ruined in the salt chemical in the thermal spa. I brought them to my yacht club concierge and said look what the thermal spa does to bamboo. He said how much did they cost. Between my wife's clothes and my clothes all bamboo. 110.00. They immediately reimbursed it without question. You won't get better service than in the Yacht Club.
If you want a lounge chair out on deck, you better get there early. People save chairs with towels as early as 6am. Staff wasn't very friendly. Other guest were rude
