A great cruise! by MicheleA5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very nice. The rooms were larger and better then expected. The ports were very interesting and nice. The help were friendly and helpful despite there long work schedule. I would not hesitate to sail with msc again. It was a great experience. It was my second cruise. The first was with another carrier.

A wonderful cruise ! by FH3804801

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Lirica ship and itinerary where excellent except for a few items like rubbery lobster that one night and tough steaks. The ship had a great "entertainment crew" that worked really hard around the pool to insure everyone having a good time. Although it is a very clean ship one could hardly find any ashtrays. All announcements were made in 5 languages and most crew members spoke several languages. Announcements as to when passengers could go ashore were not made, so one had to go to the 5th deck and find out if we had been cleared to go ashore or telephone the Reception. We were told that this was done on purpose so that people could sleep in. Most arrivals to ports were around 7 or 8 A.M.

A very relaxing 11 day cruise. by JanK2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ship was meticuously clean. And the wait staff and cabin stewards were excellent. But we were disappointed in the food. Breakfast on deck 11 was excellent and the chef absolutely amazing. Some of the entertainment was outstanding and some was so-so. The daily announcements were available in 5 languages as we had many people from different countries onboard. The ports were excellent choices. We enjoyed being able to get off the ship on almost a daily basis because of the constant rocking of the ship. We doubted whether the ship had stablizers. If it did, they not used because the seas were not rough but ship constantly rocked. This is our third cruise and I do not remember ever having the motion that he had on this ship. Our friends did not feel well the entire time because of the constant motion. One of the greatest assets for us was the fact that a priest was onboard and offered daily Mass. This we enjoyed!! We did not sign up for excurisons on the ship but had no problem arranging the tours ourselves in each port at a reduced cost. So if one is looking for a spotlessly clean ship, excellent wait staff and room stewards, daily Mass, great ports and can overlook the food and comfort of the beds, this cruise is for them.

Visit Central America by JeanneM10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The MSC Lirica is a serviceable vessel with a European flavor (announcements made in English, Italian, German, and French) for getting from one Latin American port to another. Always impeccably clean with a friendly and helpful crew, the ship is pleasant but not spectacular. We had an inside cabin which was tight, especially the corner shower. However, the outstanding cabin steward from Romania served our every need graciously. We ate only the first dinner in one of the two dining rooms and never returned: food was inferior, room was incredibly loud an tables were crowded together. The buffet offerings were satisfactory for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner reduced choices amounted to pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and perhaps chicken or lamb chops. No dessert. We did not partake in any of the onboard engtertainment. Tour excursions we selected were all outstanding: Panama Canal bus tour, cruise on a rainforest canal, visit to banana plantation, a day at an island beach, and sailing/snorkeling at a coral reef.

MSC lirica cruise dec 18th, 2006 by Patriciah

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean

We have sailed the MSC Lirica previously and had been impressed with the value it offered for the Caribbean market. We decided to do this Christmas cruise with the MSC lirica with this previous experience in mind. We were very disappointed starting with the 3 hour waiting time standing at the port Everglades terminal to get on the ship. The cabins were fine; not large but practical and clean. The food was at times excellent and at times mediocre; lacked consistency. The dining room service and cabin service were excellent. The description of the ports by the excursion staff was not very good. The person reading the script during the presentation had some reading problems and made the presentation difficult to listen to. On the other hand the port lecturer was excellent and offered great advice when you spoke to her one-on-one. The shops on board closed in the afternoon (for siesta ???? that's the kind of job I would have liked to have) and the casino closed from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. (????) It seemed the ship's staff ran so that the crew would be most comfortable; forget about the passengers. There were hundreds of kids on the ship in view of the holiday season and special offers made by MSC. The ship must have been surprised as they did not have enough supervision for all these kids. Thus they were running all over the ship uncontrolled. There was scheduled card games in the same room where forty or more kids found themselves; no need to say the game didn't last long. The entertainment on the ship was excellent and better than what we have seen on other cruises (this is our 30th cruise).

You've Got To Be Kidding! by MichaelG20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The embarkation was easy. The ship was extremely clean and well kept. The staff were from various countries, which led to difficulty in asking for things, however most could speak English. I look forward to the cusine on ships, and since this was my 81 cruise I have some knowledge of what is good and bad coming from the galley. This was the worst ever! For that reason I would never cruise this line again. The dinning experience was complete chaos, with waiters that didn't know what to do, head waiters that would not help out. Our waiter was doing seven tables a total of 29 passengers. Far too many people. I feel the company was trying to cut costs and this has reflected on the entire ship.

Very bad shore excursion department by AChoi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Recent cruise on MSC Lirica The shore excursions department was extremely frustrating to deal with. They need to reorganize the whole department. If there are not enough people on your shore excursion, they will cancel it, inform you are 8-9pm the night before and ask you to go to the desk to arrange for other excursions. By the time you scramble to the desk, the excursions that you want are already sold out. We booked online before the cruise and found that there were more options when you go onboard. E.g., you may have 4 choices of excursions online, then when you go onboard, you have 12 choices. What is the point of pre-booking online? MSC has to get its act together. They add stress to your vacation; not helping you enjoy your vacation!

Not quite the cruise I expected by SeanSteve

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

7/10 Fantastic value for money with the all inclusive food/drink, a must. However, MSC Lirica is the oldest ship in the fleet, quite a mix of nationalities including lots of Russians! The daily entertainment was 'Butlins like!' therefore with the extra day at sea it wasn't great on board, not much to do. Finally, I would prefer cruising around different countries or Caribbean beaches as one Emirate is much the same as each other.

An eventful solo trip. MSC is a great cruise company if you're on a budget. by librarianelaine

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I would cruise MSC again. They were cheap so I could pay double as a solo in an ocean view rather than an inside room. I could also add on the premium drink package and Internet in my budget. Food was excellent in my opinion.

MSC Lirica Eastern Med 18-25 October by allyro54

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Lirica

I loved every minute! I thought the destinations were fantastic. The staff onboard were all amazing and I loved the food. Only problem I found was the rudeness of some other passengers can be very annoying when you are used to everyone being well mannered.

Our first cruise experience by jollypostman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Lirica / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

This was our first cruise and although we were impressed with the cabin, staff, food and destinations, we were very disappointed with the shortened time changes in some of the ports. This meant we didn’t fully experience everything we had hoped to in Crete and Kefalonia. We would otherwise recommend MSC but have decided that cruising isn’t really our type of holiday. We may however try one again in the future.

Good but could have been better by Banjo

In general the cruise was good apart from the noise in the cabin issue. Although only our third cruise with MSC, we had Gold Cards due to their loyalty match scheme which gave us a few little perks
