Review summary
The MSC Lirica is a serviceable vessel with a European flavor (announcements made in English, Italian, German, and French) for getting from one Latin American port to another. Always impeccably clean with a friendly and helpful crew, the ship is pleasant but not spectacular. We had an inside cabin which was tight, especially the corner shower. However, the outstanding cabin steward from Romania served our every need graciously. We ate only the first dinner in one of the two dining rooms and never returned: food was inferior, room was incredibly loud an tables were crowded together. The buffet offerings were satisfactory for breakfast and lunch, but for dinner reduced choices amounted to pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs and perhaps chicken or lamb chops. No dessert. We did not partake in any of the onboard engtertainment. Tour excursions we selected were all outstanding: Panama Canal bus tour, cruise on a rainforest canal, visit to banana plantation, a day at an island beach, and sailing/snorkeling at a coral reef.Ports of call

Pros: ports of call and land excursions, impeccable housekeeping throughout ship
Cons: inside cabin small; food only OK; pool area noisy; mandatory tipping charge
