We did not know what to expect with it being our first cruise, we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely go on another
Embarkation
3 out of 5
We didn’t realise quite how long this process was going to take. We were very glad we decided to go early. We were expecting to be able to go and spend some time in Venice before the ship sailed but realised this was not going to happen. It would have been helpful if at some point we were told that the embarkation process would take over 2 hours.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We ate in the main dining room and the buffet and can not praise the food highly enough. There was great choices and everything was perfectly cooked and arrived at your table still piping hot.
I have read other mixed reviews on food but can not agree with them.
There were fussy eaters in our group but you would never have known because they raved about the food as well.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Didn’t do any activities. Would have had a swim but both pools had dividers in the middle which stopped you swimming
Entertainment
3 out of 5
There was live music in 3 main areas in the evening. It wasn’t really to our taste, it was quite European jazzy, the pianist then the singers in the piano bar played easy listening which was a bit better. We spent most evenings in the coffee lounge which had no music.
The main stage shows were better and we really enjoyed the crew talent show near the end of the week.
Children's Programs
No children in our party
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All the staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us. A credit to MSC
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship was spotless
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was the size of a small double room. There was plenty of storage space and room under bed for empty suitcases. Bed was really comfortable, about the same standard as premier inn beds if this helps.
The cabins as with the rest of the ship were spotless. They were cleaned at least twice a day and it was lovely that our steward knew our names when he spotted us in the corridor.
Was like stepping onto a film set, absolutely beautiful. We bought all day tickets for the water bus and used it to visit most of the sights and Murano island to see the glass works
Amazing sailing right into the middle of a sunken volcano. We didn’t do a ship excursion, we took the tender into port then took a small boat to the other side of the island then a bus to a hill top village then another bus to the town above the port all for 15€ We then took the cable car back down to the tender.
We walked into town from dock. We took wee train around the town. We paid 18€ for 2 tickets and were given a time of over an hour later to come back for our slot. To be honest we walked most of the route while waiting for time. I would not recommend it.
Do look out for the large turtle that swims beside the docked fishing boats
We walked into town from the dock. Really nice city with large walled old town. There was a market on the day we were there with mixed stalls selling everything from veg to antiques
