Fabulous cruise by Nikkiw60

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise on MSC Divina and everything about it was good. We had a balcony cabin on deck 13 with a slight overhang. Our room steward was very helpful, friendly and always smiling! Our waiters in the MDR were both very good and the food was enjoyable I ordered mine out of sync in that I had a pasta dish as a second course instead of soup or salad which was never a problem. The home made bread was very morish. The food in the buffet was not as bad as some people have made out, the pizza was good my husband tried the ones at breakfast also, bacon and egg pizza anyone! We had booked the fantatica experience which included room service so We enjoyed coffee on the balcony every morning.

The serving staff in the bars were very good and we had the classic drinks package which was excellent value.

We only went to one show so can't really comment on them. We had the late sitting for dinner and enjoyed the leisurely service as that is our style followed by after dinner drinks in one of the bars.

As we had done a status match we had the Black level which meant we had lots of treats included for example prosecco and chocolate dipped strawberries in our cabin and dinner in a speciality restaurant included, also an invitation to the Welcome Back cocktail party which was an eye opener!

We were shocked at how other passengers just carried on with their conversations whilst the very brief speeches were being made, and also they were just reaching for drinks from the waiting staffs trays without any thank you or any acknowledgement - very rude!

All in all we had a fabulous time and enjoyed people watching and seeing all the different nationalities on board.

To conclude we are British, it was our first cruise and we got or status match through one of our upper level hotel loyalty cards ( we are frequent travellers mainly city breaks).

Most BEAUTIFUL Ship! by lindaann467

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have been on many cruises, but this is the most beautiful of all ships!! This cruise was very relaxing, just what we wanted. Good food and a very nice balcony room. The room seemed a little larger than the average. Had a great time. This was our 2nd. cruise on MSC, and we will cruise again. Very are pleased with the easy disembarkation on this ship. Even with the size of it, it was very well done!

MSC Divinia by riverrat68

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

UGH, where to begin? Just back from MSC Divinia cruise and we mostly felt this was a huge disappointment. The ship itself is beautiful ship, the pools were very nice, but that's about all the good things I can say about this ship/cruise.

We were allowed to check in early, so we got at the dock at around 10:30 A.M, but check in was difficult, and it was 1:00 before we got to cabin. Our luggage did not arrive at our cabin until after mustard call. The staff with the exception of few could speak little to no English. The first night their was a single security light that we could not get to shut off, so I called the desk, and she basically said our cabin attendant

was gone for the night and we would have to wait until the next day to seek help with this light. I advised her we can't sleep with light shinning in our eyes and I did not care who came to help, but somebody needs to, she then advised me to cover it with TAPE..Finally after much complaining somebody came to help. The lighting in that ship will drive you insane.

As far as food goes, nice salad bar, LOVED BREAKFAST, but dinner was same everyday, and OMG, how do they cut steak the width of paper...REALLY, it was that thin. The first day, first lunch, I bit into hamburger and literally spit it out in front of everyone...I think it, No...I know it was BAD, prolly left from the previous cruise. Their pasta was awful, Pizza was good, and that's pretty much what I ate everyday while on this cruise. The chef never had side items to go with dinner, such as green beans, corn, potatoes, etc. Lunch and Dinner was pretty much a meat, no sides and or hamburger and hotdogs...YUCK! Several people were complaining. Desserts were the same every single day and not good either. Oh well, enough about the food!

One more thing about dinning, everyday, no matter at lunch or dinner the head staff would argue in Italian, to the point you thought they were going to fight..I am not even joking, it was a show in itself.

The staff never once come by to ask if we needed anything? Room attendant left garbage and cleaning supplies in hall by our room and others rooms, the entire cruise, we had to go around it each day in the hall.

The pillows were awful, we had to get 4 additional pillows, and slept on three each...they were so flat. The bed was hard.

Balcony's were small!

We never understood a word the captain said each day. We never got our daily activities the first day, and cabin attendant would leave it each day at 9 p.m the rest of the days.

When you board this ship, you are on your own, don't expect any customer service.

Found the food to be bland and not much variety. Ship was clean. Service was nothing special. Previous cruises on NCL Sky and Carnival Dream were slightly more upscale.

MSC Gets Better Each Cruise by Writeandcruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Bermuda

This was my fifth cruise with MSC. There are people who don't enjoy this line, and that's fine, but there are several reasons to give them a try. Divina is a beautiful ship, well laid out, and one of the cleanest I've been on. (This was my 35th cruise.) The entertainment is varied and almost nonstop every evening. They even do an opera one afternoon. Overall value is excellent with fares typically lower than other lines. Drink prices are much lower than Royal and Celebrity. Every day from noon until midnight the wine bar offers a mini wine tasting of three generous pours along with a plate of appetizers for $9.90. For a fee you can learn to blend your own wine that you can name and buy bottles to take home. These make excellent gifts. The food is comparable to others lines with the exception of really good pasta options and fresh pizza since this is an Italian line. Things that irk the detractors include a clunky website, long waits for reaching an agent on the phone, and they do announcements in multiple languages.

MSC Divina - TERRIBLE!! by sb6870

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Bermuda

We have cruised many times on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. We decided to try something new, and MSC looked like pretty ships so we gave the MSC Divina a try. This cruise was the absolute worst we have ever been on. We will NEVER choose MSC again. The employees, by large, were not friendly or helpful. They would walk by in groups of 2 or 3 only speaking to each other and not even acknowledging guests. The Maitre De was rude with us and many other guests around us while dealing with dinner seating problems. The service staff in the dining room was terrible. The waiter never introduced himself, and we still arent sure which one he was. Our dinner order was incomplete, my dinner was cold, and no one even came by to refill drinks ar check on our meals. I ordered fettucine alfredo that was not even as good as Olive Garden's (as an Italian ship that is pathetic). After that travesty we often had meals in the main buffet, with one again cold food, and disgraceful options. My husband pre-ordered internet minutes for work. The service was awful. He continually got dropped from the internet, and then their program would continue to dock him minutes, so we ended up having to spend more money just to get a little work done. Out of the 200 minutes used total, he only could connect for about 40 minutes. The first 2 very long days at sea were cold and windy.  Obviously MSC cannot be blamed for the weather, however, there were hardly any activities. We are used to Carnival and RC ships that always have something fun going on, and several items at the same time.  It's usually fun in the a.m. after breakfast before afternoon sun, but on this cruise ship there were no such activities. Their activities director Darren should most definately be ashamed of himself. We also pre-ordered a picture package. That was also a mess, no one would answer our questions as far as which sizes and which pictures were included. The staff just kept repeating "Oh, we'll deal with that on the last day." Well, the last day came and all of the pictures we wanted were conveniently not included. We had to submit an order to reprint the photos in a smaller size. We were told to come back after 9pm. I set an alert on my phone and waited in line, then the same man that told me after 9pm said "no, I told you 9:30". No sir, you did not. Ihad to wait another 30 minutes to pick them up. All in all a pretty miserable week for $2,000. NEVER agian!

MSC Devina 09-16 April 2016 by djc4410277

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Bermuda

Overall, a good cruise experience.  Very clean ship; however, the crew did not dispense hand sanitizer at entrances to restaurants and the buffet, as found on other cruise lines.  About half of the self-service hand sanitizer dispensers failed to function correctly.   The ship's library that was available to all passengers was very poorly located inside of a conference room featuring classroom seating and had only a few shelves of English language books.   Worst library found in all of our cruise experiences.   We suspect that the private library available exclusively to Yacht Club passengers had a much better selection of books.

Food and beverage quality and selection was average in comparison with other cruise lines.  One noteworthy item was a beverage coupon book sold for US$84 which contained 18 coupons good for beverage purchases up to $8 each.   That resulted in an average price of $4.67.   The other good thing about this offering is that it is not tied to one passenger's shipboard account.  Just tear off coupons and use them whenever and wherever you want without regard to who is the user.   So a couple can purchase one ticket book rather than both passengers having to purchase separate drink packages, as is true on many other cruise line beverage plans.

Another good point was MSC's new program of awarding equivalent status to members of other cruise line member loyalty programs.   We are "elite" status members of Celebrity's Captain's Club.  After submitting the necessary online application, MSC awarded us "Black Card" status in their Voyagers Club, which is their highest level.   Good marketing strategy.

Pure Pleasure by attoramas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

4/30/16 sailing on the Divina. Our travels include numerous sailings with various cruise lines and none of those can compare to our recent sailing on the MSC Divina. I have to admit, we were hesitant after our initial experience with the booking and the reviews. We decided to set no expectations except, to have a fabulous time and we did! Our experience was one of just pure pleasure. From the time our luggage was unloaded to the time we left the terminal to return ho...me, nothing but exceptional service. The MSC Divina team/crew made us feel like we were the only passengers on the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth and quick. We were on the boat within 15 minutes after arrival. The MSC Divina has a very attentive, polite, and personable crew. One that made us feel very welcomed and very special. Our Butler, Aaron was top notch! We especially enjoyed our conversations with him and appreciated his willingness More to assist, my now fiancé, with planning his proposal to me our first day on board. Willie, James and Mae, were a delight in the Top Sail lounge! We cannot thank them enough, along with all of the team members of MSC, for making our sailing one to remember and so enjoyable. The Divina is a beautiful ship and very well kept. Being ones who enjoys "quite", the Yacht Club ended up suiting us the best. The Top Sail Lounge and the One Pool were areas that we spent most of our time, both on sea and land days. The One Pool has a good breakfast bar, even will make to order. The Top Sail Lounge always had snacks, hot and cold h'orderves, dried fruit, nuts and pastries throughout the day and night. The service, well, superb. We never had to ask for anything. The crew was always on top of things. Even to the point of knowing our coffee and drink order. This is a prime example of the superb service that we received.  Although we mostly stayed in the Yacht Club area, we did have time to appreciate the other areas of the ship. Many lounges where you can listen to great artists in a variety of genres. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to the talent. The shows were great! We are not much of "activity" people, so we did not participate in any. Our room Cabin 15032, was a very good size with a lovely balcony, shower/tub and walk in closet; which I appreciated! We particularly enjoyed not having anyone to the right of us. Our room was always kept clean and the little special touches at night, chocolate covered strawberries, Italian cookies and chocolates, were lovely. I can't say enough about how pleasant the Butler and Room Attendant were. I especially like the fact the they always had smiles on their faces although they have had a long working day. We did not agree with the "no tipping" rule. We feel that if someone provides exceptional service, then they should receive an exceptional tip. Needless to say, we provided tips throughout the sailing and at the end and enjoyed doing so. This was our first sailing with MSC and it will not be the last! We enjoyed ourselves so much, that on the day after we returned home, we booked our 2017 sailing (Yacht Club), same cabin - with fingers crossed we will see Aaron, Willie, James and Mae again! Well done Divina!!! See you again April 2017!

DIRTY! PETRI DISH OF BACTERIA AND VIRUS!!!! by Eiciano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Nobody is regulating the drinking machine- passengers are refilling their water bottles directly from the spout of the machines. You might as well kiss all of them because the bottles that touches their mouth was touching the machine's spouts when they refill. Unlike NCL and Carnival, the staff are constantly watching and telling passengers not to refill their bottles directly from the dispenser. Unlike the other cruise ships, the hand sanitizer is very limited to the dining and only works half the time so most passengers do not sanitize at all!

TERRIFIC by voyagesbylc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First of all I want to say Thank you and Job well done.  My sister and I got off of the Divina last Saturday, after enjoying an amazing 7 days as members of the Yacht Club.  WOW!  From the moment we arrived at the port, until the last moment on the ship, we were pampered, spoiled and treated like royalty.  We had a blast.  There are so many people that helped make our cruise unforgettable and I am sure I will miss some of them, but I am going to try and list as many as I can remember.  Here goes….

Our butler, Louise Jean Franco or just Franco, as we lovingly called him, was sooooo amazing.  He took incredible care of us and made us feel special. He was so friendly and helpful and we enjoyed getting to know him and his assistant, Elysee.    Our cabin was immaculate and they seemed to know what we needed before we even asked them!   No matter what we asked of them or when we asked it, they were both always smiling and striving to make our cruise extra memorable! We are hopeful that we can sail on the Divina again before their contracts end.  We felt very lucky to have gotten them as our team.

The staff of the Top Sail.  What a class act everyone is.  The butlers all look so incredible in their “uniforms” and the white glove service is top notch.  Our favorite bartenders are Errol Mattis aka Alex and Remson D’Costa.  They always greeted us by name and went out of their way to make sure we had whatever we wanted.  It was so fun to see their smiling faces and laugh with them.  They were always in a good mood and made us smile.  Not to mention they also fixed fabulous cocktails!  All of the staff in the Top Sail lounge was smiling, helpful and fun.  It was so much fun to be treated like royalty, even if just for a week!!

The VIP concierge staff, Anna  Varriale and Poririo Sarita, were extrordinary.  Anna had to help us with several  minor issues and she was always so sweet and eager to please.  It seemed as if nothing we asked of her was too much or a bother. Porfirio also jumped in to help us with our Voyagers’ club cards and a library book when it was time to relax.  It was amazing to have “our own” personal concierge service and never have to wait in line.  They are really great ambassadors to the Yacht Club experience.

The casino staff was EXCELLENT.  They made the tables so much fun and their smiles were contagious.  Needless to say, we didn’t always win but we always had fun.  That is a true test of a good casino staff.  If they can make people enjoy losing money, what more could you ask for!!!  There are a few dealers that we would like to mention because we always enjoyed sitting at their tables.  They are Sumiti Thapa D, Richie Vila Jacinto, Lucklyn Thalabanan, Irene Bina  and Alona Tynsynova.  Also, Tymur Tursunov, one of the pit bosses was very friendly and helpful.  He too had a great smile and was very welcoming.  It was so much fun to go into the casino and feel like you knew everyone and everyone was smiling.  Anthony R. Pereira, one of the bar staff was so much fun.  He took good care of us whenever anyone at our tables wanted to buy a drink and he would always say “Hi” when he saw us in the casino.

Your shows were wonderful, especially The Voices and The Michael Jackson show.  The three singers from the voices were phenomenal and I couldn’t get enough of their songs.  I was so impressed.  We also got to see one of the singers doing the show tunes, on the last night, in La Luna and he was excellent.  His voice was so clear and beautiful.  Wish he had a CD, I would have bought it on the spot!!

So, as you can see we were definitely impressed with the Divina and MSC.  This was our first experience on MSC but it definitely won’t be our last.  I have already sent emails to my clients to let them know about our incredible experience and my sister has at least 5 cabins sailing in the near future.  It will be our pleasure to sell MSC now that we know what our clients can expect.  Please let the staff of the Divina know how much we appreciated everything they did for us and that we think they are TERRIFIC!  Hope to see them all again SOON!!

Truly a great vacation for the whole family by Champagne2cruis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

As I sit at my table sipping coffee out of my new MSC coffee cup ;)  I am thinking about what an absolute amazing trip that we had on the MSC Davina.

We came home exhausted which means we definitely had a wonderful time!!

We had so much fun with the family, meeting fellow cruisers, being catered too & at the ports of call. Want to thank you very much for the "EXTRAS" in our room :) As we walked in and saw the Absolut, cranberry juice & water bottles, Abby & I both had big grins on our faces knowing that this was going to be a great trip.

The bottle of Champagne & fruit delivered to the room was a wonderful touch as well, we went on the balcony to sip it as we left Miami. The food was spectacular, service impeccable & the entertainment was exceptional as there were many jaw dropping moments. It was truly a great vacation for the whole family. Thanks again for all you did, MSC will be seeing us again!!

April will be our 4th... by watsonink

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

April will be our 4th time going on the Divina and will continue to sail MSC for years to come, either the Divina or the new Seaside. Yacht club is worth it, we won't sail with being in the yacht club. Food is excellent, the steak house is where we eat most of the time. We had the same waiter for all 3 sailings and he remembers us. The camp remembered our daughters name from past sailing. The shows, well, they rival any other cruise liners. Besides, our other favorite ships (oasis class and Disney) this is the best deal you can get. I highly recommend this ship.

Fantastic vacation by DawnBrokers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a balcony room and thoroughly enjoyed this. The ship itself was beautiful and after a day of discovery it was easy to get around! The entertainment staff were fantastic and always had great energy and a welcoming smile; pulling you onto the dance floor as well as getting everyone involved in their fun activities.Oz will get you dancing in no time! Victor will have you laughing at his antics.  The Garden Pool was our favourite place to spend a few hours if we were not on our balcony. The only slightly frustrating item was the long wait at the bars. However they did make some of the most unique and tasty drinks on a cruise ship. The shows were outstanding with top notch talent. Do not miss the Michael Jackson tribute. The breakfast options, buffet lunch, pizza, and of course the dinners were excellent. Our waiter was the best one on the planet. Octa, we looked forward to our dinners 'with' you every night! You are a magician and an illusionist. Thank you. The self check-out option worked perfectly for us and we were thankful for this option. We would not hesitate to cruise with MSC again.

IF I COULD ONLY STAY by nmincho

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Yes, I admit, I was a bit skeptical before we went on this cruise after reading so many negative reviews before our sail. But I have to tell you I am very glad we went on Divina. She is a beautiful ship! We always found something new to do and be, even on the sea days.

The crew was very polite, helpful and respectfully friendly at all times. There was a lie that no one speak English and basically don't understand you. I found that even though they speak with an accent they do go above and beyond to help you out with whatever the need.

Embarkation was smooth and easy and we were in our stateroom in no time. Disembarkation was easy too, no problem,  if I could only stay...

Entertainment team was pretty awesome, I have to say that girls who helped with arts and crafts class (Evelyn from Peru and Khaoula from Moroco) were so friendly, we were looking forward to arts and crafts class every day.Love

Our waiter Supriadi  from Indonesia was very good. He learned right away that we take our water with lemon, so lemon wedges were awaiting us every evening. HappyThe food was always brought at the right time and waiting time was very minimal. I have to say that the food was always fresh and nicely done to my taste. The only thing I have to say, that some dishes (risotto for example) could be garnished  a little more tastefully perhaps with some herbs/vegetables/sauces then it was, but it tasted well anyways.  The desserts were out of this world!!! Yummy

The entertainment is one of the best! Personally  I think that Italian music is the best in the world, so I very much enjoyed Italian singers, classical  music and definitely Verdi's Traviata. That was an icing on the cake on the Italian Night!!! Thank you Darren for wonderful entertainment every night!

Our stateroom was always clean and new towels delivered every day, sometimes twice a day.  Our housekeeper (Prashat) was very nice and thorough with cleaning. Floors were vacuumed daily, bathroom cleaned twice a day. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.

Pictures.... I really have to say big thank you to the photographers crew! Thank you for making our memories!!! The pictures came out outstanding so we had a difficult choice to make at the end of the cruise but well worth the money. We were given the deep discount  and appreciate it very much.

Ports of call. We did enjoyed  excursions at St.Thomas and walks in San Juan, but Nassau, Bahamas port was dirty and smelly, too many people and the only highlight of it is Paradise Island and Atlantis. Its my second time in Bahamas and this time it looked really bad, I almost wished I stayed on-board, but the water was so blue I had to go.

So,  overall  cruise was very good,  we enjoyed cruising on Divina and most certainly will do it again and will recommend it to my friends and family.

Past Food review as not so good is... so, so wrong! by gvictorw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Just got back from our first MSC cruise. It was wonderful!

I am an experienced cruiser and European traveler.

I almost did not pick MSC because of that bad food review and now I am glad I ignored that critic.

I can only imagine that his idea of fine dining is Ryan's, Golden Corral or ...Olive Garden,... which is not the best example true Italian cuisine.

Also, MSC is Mediterranean cuisine, not all Italian.

Put it another way. I rate food on Celebrity as a 10! Holland America as a 9 so MSC is a 9 1/2!

Do a MSC Cruise and ignore fools like the guy who has never been to a White Glove Restaurant in his life!

Great ship! by DAKGreenmtnboy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Spent a 4+5 on this beautiful ship; no true complaints aside from "some" of the service was a little slow. The food was average in the main dining rooms but the buffet was above average with the exception of a complete LACK of salads! Entertainment and entertainment crew were all exceptional. Cabin was IMACULANT! Overall the experience was truly excellent. Four star rating only due to service being slow and at times, several times our orders were not even filled at several concessions. The photo service was by far the worst AND most expensive we've seen with NO video option. Many activities were planned and occurred but the lack of announcements for these was quite noticeable; very conservative environment onboard. I don't necessarily object to that, but a little more information sharing would have been nice. We found the most exceptional part of this trip was the OUTSTANDING cabin service and cleanliness, simply perfect! We also did not know that this cruise was a "rock & role" cruise which was 'chartered' by a famous band. However, due to it not being sold-out the remaining passengers were unaware of this fact and much of the cruise was accommodating that crowd, less on the rest of the passengers; almost like we weren't really there?
