Not bad, but not great by kyleesgran

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise showed great promise as the ship was and is beautiful. The shows were excellent and the desserts to die for. They have a great infinity pool at the back  but you have to get your towels mid-ship and return them mid-ship. The buffet food was good and the choices were excellent, they have the best pizza on a cruise ship hands down. This ship has a lot of passengers and at times it felt as if all of them were where I wanted to be. Very annoying. The shops are small and understaffed. The musicians were great and if you wanted to dance with the exception of the disco you just got up and danced wherever. They are definitely European; you can still get a chance to dance with the officers! We had a good time, but will probably not chose to go back. It was a good trip for the money.

MSC Divina was an excellent cruise that made a great impression on a first timer. The entertain was like no  other, just amazing. The food was amazing served  with options buffet style or fine dining. There is a lot  that can be said, but it is something should be experience not told.

MSC is running a Med cruise in the Caribbean without taking into consideration that it is a different type of customer. by Paganson1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall service and food is not good.  Food as described on menus is not what you receive.  Either overcooked or undercooked.  Various balcony cruises missing half of glass door enclosure in the shower stall.  Complaints to management did not get them fixed.  Crew either does not speak or understand English, and do not address problems in the restaurants.  If you use a credit card for your onboard charges on the final morning you have to get in a long line to sign your bill, if you are paying cash the line is even longer.  When you get your charge from you bank there is a Service Fee for International transaction because their banking is done overseas. Onboard loading a mess.

All kinds of lines without anyone assisting you in loading operations. The main problem, and I discussed this with a Staff member, is that they have to adjust their operational mentality to the fact that this vessel is operating in the Caribbean where passengers are used to many cruise lines that are knowledgeable at meeting the passengers needs and providing the service that they are accustomed to.

(I have done 81 cruises and know the industry very well.)

Good cruise for the price but the food can be improved by cclark9731

Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Beautiful ship. Well maintained.  There is  always  someone  cleaning and  vacuuming. The state rooms  are nicely decorated and our  steward kept our room immaculate. He was  always  very friendly and never imposed. The ship is large and all the  stair cases to do not  go to all the floors  so pay attention when taking the  stairs.  There  are  lots of  signs to follow.  There  are  lots of activities  but  mostly for adults or very small children. I did not notice activities for  pre school to pre teen ages. They mostly  hung out at the  Aqua Park which made it very crowded. There is an infinity pool at the back of the ship that tends to not be as crowded. Its also good for non swimmers because it is only 4 feet deep. The other pools  are 6 feet. Lots of activities and lounges to hear live music. I was disappointed that kids were allowed in th Galaxy club even though  they  had their  own teen night  club. I saw  many kids there until 2 am. What can I say about the food? It  wasn't terrible  or uneatable just not tasty. It was the same thing for breakfast everyday. The fruits were not fresh and the trays  were always empty and we always had to wait. The Black Crab restaurant was pretty but once again I was not  wowed by the food or its presentation. Dont expect to get anything to eat at the  buffet after 10pm. There  was  pizza  that was  pretty tasty but  you can only eat  pizza  so many days in a row. There was  some food that was  brought out about  11:30pm but nothing interesting. That was the most disappointing part of the cruise. Overall the cruise was good  and I would go back again if the price is  right.  The ports of call were also pretty good as well.

Msc Divina I applaud you by nutmegb1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My friends and I took this cruise to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We were a bit skeptical after reading some negative reviews but we decided we will take the chance. I must say that we were all impressed with everything. The embarkation was well organized. Some of the greeters weren't smiling as you board the ship but that was ok. The Divina is beautiful in itself, the rooms the bathrooms etc were all sparking clean. The nightly shows was great. We enjoyed our nightly dining at the Villa Rosa. Each night was great especially  I think it was Italian night with the lighted cakes with all the chefs lined up it was breathtaking. The food was awesome, very healthy all the time. I think thats the way we should all eat on an everyday basis. The buffet was superb as well. The servers including Ade (VILLA Rosa)Happy, and the bartender from India was always coming around to greet us and to make sure we were having a good time or needed anything. Our Room attendant Manny from Madagascar was an angel always helpful and not forgetting Frederick from the beautiful Isle of spice Grenada in the photo studio.   We all enjoyed each port we stopped at especially Jamaica, Mexico and the Cayman Islands. The beaches was wonderful. The only set back was Bahamas too Hot. Of course thats beyond MSC control. The beach party was awesome. We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed every bit of it. Overall I give Msc a five star for making our 30th wedding anniversary a memorable one. My friends and I are looking forward to the next one on the Msc Divina. Hats off to you Msc.

Room for improvement by candiace440

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my second MSC cruise. I found that that ship is beautiful. The itinerary and amenities are great. However, many on the staff seem unhappy. The people who work in the buffet  often do not even make eye contact. When an item on the food line is depleted I watched them see a long line forming and turn their backs as they rebuilt trays instead of communicating with the passengers. I found that the staff go out of their way to accommodate Europeans and fail to acknowledge the needs of the other passengers are not being met. I think that they need training  in building interpersonal skills.

Fun Times on the MSC Divina by dmpinkerton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had an excellent time despite some of the things we read prior to the August 9, crusie on the MSC Divina.  The ship is so beautiful that pictures and words don't describe the tasteful decor.  We have taken Carnival trips and had a great time.  On our trip there were cocktail specials every night which were discounted and Carnival never did this.  The only down side and I saw this on the Carnival..the management need some training on how to treat service staff.. Service staff do everything to make a trip worthwhile and how they are treated makes me wonder just how much gratuity goes to them...I really was offended at how some of the managers treated staff in the dining room and retail shops...So that is my only complaint!!  We had a great time and wish it lasted longer...If the Divina changes routes I would go again!!!

Management staff by fayespurgeon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was clean and beautiful...the service people were very good, always helping in any way.

My complaint was with the Management staff.  It was difficult to gain information.  They would

comment that information would be given to me approx. 2 days before debarking the ship.

Cruise Worth The Price by solotarnovak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Purchased 2 Balcony ( Double Occupancy ) via a Travel Zoo deal of $299 pp + tax per room. These cruise for 2 adults & 2 kids cost about $1900. Based on this price it was a good cruise.

MSC still has along way to go to compete in the American market. I read reviews that claim " Cruise From Hell " or " Worst Cruise Ever ". On this I disagree. Had very good service. Had no problem with people not speaking English. The Food ( dinners ) in main dining room was fine. The buffet area needs some work as to how it flows & refilling of empty dishes but nothing that you can't get around.

Had an issue with the Steak House. Way over priced for what I received. Steak was not good at all. Everything was ala cart. Should have been price fix.

Pools were good. Not really crowded even on Sea Days. New ship. Very beautiful. Entertainment was also very good.

Their communication skills need a lot of work though. There was a problem getting on the ship due to problem at the port. People stood in lines for hours. MSC had no backup plan to deal with this. Poorly handled.

Last thing, ports of call ( This was Western Caribbean ) Jamaica was a waste of time. Don't bother getting off the ship. Also Great Strip Cay ( NCL's private Island ) was a disappointment .

Over all, for the price we paid, we had a good time. I'm not so sure that if I paid $4,000 for this cruise I would have been as happy. Would I cruise with MSC again ? Price, price price. That's the deal maker.

First Adult Cruise - Excellent Choice by roadrunner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise ship was fantastic! From the people you meet (fellow cruisers) to the customer service from everyone on board. The ambiance of ALL areas of the ship are breathtaking. The food variety in the buffet area was pretty good; however, in the main dining halls the variety of choices was not excellent but was very satisfying nonetheless. The taste of the food was always excellent. The cabin was always well kept and we had no complains. The itinerary of the MSC Divina - Western Caribbean was beautiful and enjoyable.

Highly recommended ship!!!

Regards,

From St. Thomas, Virgin Islands

great cruiseline by soccermania13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

this cruise was the best cruise we have been on. we live in florida and cruise quite often. we had never heard of msc cruises prior to booking it. once we entered the ship we both fell in love with the decor.

we then proceeded to the upper decks to enjoy a wonderful lunch. the choices went on forever. the pizza station had so many varieties to choose from, not like 2-3 on other cruise lines. the dining room food was also wonderful. the fresh made rolls everyday were to die for. the choices on the menu were also very good. overall the food was a 10. the wait staff were great. very attentitive, quick, polite, funny, etc. we had the 8:45 seating so we did not feel rushed like you do on the first seating. our cabin steward was also very accomodating. she was always very pleasant and hard working. she became a friend to us. now for the entertainment. the best of the best. every night they received a standing ovation. there was an opera one afternoon that was excellent. the night shows were just as great. they got the audience involved. the electric violin player was out of this world. she was really talented. everyone was great at what they did. we also liked the idea that the captain and his officers were seen all over the ship. we really enjoyed this cruiseline so much that we have already booked 2 more cruises with msc.

A little dissapointed by ivettegr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise service on the dinning was fine, on the embark and disembark was excellent, the room service was regular and the entertainment was great. But the ship facilities need to be improved. I was in a wheelchair because a bone fracture not associated to the trip. The public areas didn't have an easy access, the pool don't have a chair to move in to it, the theater can be access only thru the 6th floor and to the last line of chairs. The beauty salon services are very expensive.

Eric's Review by abugmm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Much better cruise than anticipated.  The ship was beautiful and clean.  There were a lot of activiities.  Crew was very friendly and tried to please.  Embarkation was the best of all cruises we've taken.  First night in the dining room was a little ragged, but then the service straightened out.  Some of the food wasn't hot when it got to the table, but that was minor.  Appetizers and pasta were the best.

Decent cruise by ArielPod

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Nice ship, but service is not as good as other Cruise lines as NCL or RCCL. If you like pizza or pasta, this is a cruise for you. Main dining room meal is good, but the options are not much. I did not liked the entertainment, only two decent shows during the week. Overall good option for the price,  but if you can afford to pay more, just choose another cruise line.

Review for Divina, MSC Cruise line by feleciahebert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I have cruised approximately 15 times over the years and would rate this cruise among the best.

The Ship - Absolutely Beautiful - very clean - huge - lots of pools and deck areas.

The Food - Wonderful - I loved the pasta stations (unfortunately my waist did not!)  The reviews I read before going on the cruise were very critical of the food.  We thought the food was delicious, fresh, and plentiful.  I don't know why the other people were complaining -  I can't say a negative word about it!

Room Steward and Wait Staff - very professional and thorough - They kept our stateroom as well as the entire ship immaculate!

The Captain - very personable - He sponsored a question and answer period on the ship which was very entertaining.  This made him very accessible and he has a good sense of humor.

Entertainment - Some of the best we have ever seen - Absolutely loved the costumes and how the different types of entertainment were blended together into one show each night.

Excursions - There were so many excursions in Cozumel that we had a hard time choosing.  We decided on the "Fury Catamaran and Beach Break".  We had a blast and would definitely recommend it - well worth the money!  At the Bahamas, we went to the beach at Atlantis - way overpriced.  We paid $75 for 4 hours to see the building, the aquarium and the beach.  I would NOT recommend this.  Just go to a local beach and save your money.

We liked the bar packages available.  We liked that the bartenders weren't constantly walking around hawking drinks on the decks.  If you wanted a drink they were accessible but not annoyingly so.

One thing we noticed missing from this ship was a lack of photographers as you left the ship and went to different ports.  This didn't affect us because we don't usually buy these photos since we have so many times before, but I could see where some people might would like them, especially first time travelers.

We didn't have small children with us, but we saw the little ones passing through with their leaders in the children's programs and they appeared to be having fun.

The ONLY suggestion I would make is to have a clock on the pool decks and at the exit on deck 4.  We didn't want to wear a watch to keep up with the time if we wanted to take part in an activity.  Also, since the time changed at different ports, it became a little confusing as to what time we needed to  return to the ship.  It would be nice to have a clock to sinchronize our watch with as we left the ship.

I would (and have) definitely recommend this ship to may friends and family!

NO DIVERSITY by BamaCoder

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship it self was beautiful top notch. The stateroom attendent in our case SUCKED. First experience with my stateroom attendent I was informed there were no clean face towels and he could give me ONE. I was traveling with my husband MISTAKE ONE.  I had to take my bed linen off myself in order to get clean linen. I have gone on cruises before and when returning for the evening I have always had the bed turned back and some design with the usage of the cabin towels. For those who say that's not important. YES IT IS. This is a service I enjoy receiving.

The entire ship was kept very clean. We had late seating in the UPPER BLACK CRAB were there were no black waiters. The service waiters spoke very very limited english. The service was average.

The entertainment on the ship was good. The entertainment department most definitely needs to step up their game. There were a few activities that involved the entertainment department.

Club GLAXY was a bust. There were a couple of nights I was informed it was great, but I never experienced.

The employees did not seem to be happy. I understand May 19th MSC DIVINA will take the ship to BRAZIL and all of the few english speaking employees will not continue on with the ship to this location. Again no one really seemed happy. When speaking with many employees asking if they will return once their contract ends none of them said yes.

The only way I would cruise with MSC again it will have to be a FREE TRIP.
