Great wait staff, ship and accommations very clean, great entertainment by KathrynJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Cruise would have been better if the two days at sea could have been broken up as well as the time allotted at each port.  The time constraints did not leave much time for an excursion, shopping and eating portside.  The ship has a great wait staff, the ship and room accommodations were very clean.  I didn't participant in the adult entertainment activities but the overall theater performances were excellent.  Only negative would be the buffet where most of the hot foods were warm to cold but there were sufficient quantities of fruits and salads that made up the difference.  Also for those who enjoy pizza--there were always ample supply of a variety of hot pizza.

Very Happy for Most Part by janet952

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The MSC Davina was my first cruise after about 28 years. So I don't have a lot to compare it to. The ship was beautiful and very clean. The common area was always very clean. We had a balcony room that I just loved. The balcony was my favorite part. I loved to have the door open and hear the water lapping against the ship at night. They kept the rooms very clean. Came in twice a day and cleaned.

I was traveling with my 12 year old daughter. We were very disappointed in the teen group. They had too wide a range of age. They lumped the 12-14 in with the 15 -17 age group. She was intimidated when she went up to the teen hang out. Said it was all older kids sitting on their phones. There were no planned activities for the kids so they just sat there and did not approach anyone or make friends. My daughter took a Disney cruise last year and raved about the teen group. She could not get enough! She met new friends and they had all kinds of fun activities planned. The MSC Davina needs to split the 12-14 off in their own group and have planned activities for the kids that push them to interact and make new friends. I was disappointed because I had hoped to have more 'adult time' with my daughter off making new friends. But instead I was her only friend and I spent my whole cruise keeping her entertained. Also there was not enough 'kid friendly' foods for picky eaters. She ate bread and pizza for 7 days straight.

Another complaint I have it the pool chairs. The days we were at sea, people got up at 7 am and put towels on all the chairs to reserve them for the whole day. It states that reserving chairs for the day if not being used was not allowed. But no one enforced this. I watched people knot their towels on the chairs at 7 am and not come back to use them until 2 pm... I had to stand or sit on the ground all day when at the pool. I think that small kids should not have a lounge chair.  I saw families with 3 or 4 small children under the age of 6 reserve a chair for each child... the child never really sat in the chair as they were playing in the pool. But there the chairs sat unused with a towel knotted on them. This was very frustrating to me and angered me.

Also the back infinity pool should be adult only or at least 13 and older. There were 3 pools. The inside pool was ALL kids and there was no way I was going to swim in that pool. The main pool was filled with screaming and splashing kids too. So I did not swim in that pool much either. The kids were all over the hot tubs in this area too. So I went up to the back infinity pool. I assumed this would be mostly kid free... or at least older kids that were not running and splashing. WRONG. Filled with very little kids whose parents were not watching. I wanted to sit on the shallow area and get some sun. The little kids were running and splashing and making it very miserable. I really think MSC should make the back pool 14 and older. We need a place to relax. I am not a hater of kids, I have my own. But that does not mean I don't want to be away from other peoples screaming kids when I pay for a vacation.

Food was fantastic for the most part. I never went hungry. The dinner at the Black Crab was really nice. But there was not enough kid friendly foods. My daughter ate plain noodles and bread all 7 nights. But she is very picky. Our waiter, Nova was fantastic! He was so nice and I really enjoyed being served by him. I do think that soft drinks at dinner should be included. It is very expensive to pay $2.50 every time you want a can of pop. For sure next time I am bringing some of my own soda onto the ship. I was not aware that you could do this.

The entertainment for the night shows was really good. I did not find a lot of things to do on the ship during the day. There were some little things going on here and there but nothing that really sounded fun. Especially for the teens. I found I was getting a little bored on the 2nd sea day.

Nights were better. Live music everywhere. The ship was beautiful all lit up at night. Staff really nice. There was a language barrier at times. Most of the staff did not speak much English so I found it difficult at times. But I made it work.

I think the drinks were very expensive. $7.50 for every drink be it a beer or a fancy drink is excessive. Even soda cost $2.50 for each can. I think a beer should be less than a fancy drink and soda should be included. You really rack up a bill for the end of the trip. Also there is a $12 service charge for each adult at each dinner and a $8 per child. So at the end of 7 days you had 7 $32 charges on your bill for dinner tip. This was over $200 and add this into your drinks and you have a big bill on your door at the end of the trip. I don't know if other cruise lines charge a surcharge at dinner or how expensive drinks are. But I know Disney did not charge the kids for soda or smoothies and ice cream.

But all together I give MSC Davina a 4 star rating. I really enjoyed our cruise and everyone was really nice and the ship was immaculate and clean.

Great cruise for the money by Cruiser636

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The MSC Divina is a great cruise for the money. My family and I had an excellent time as usual. I just wish that they had more activities for teenagers and young adults. Also, I think it would be more advantageous if the MSC Divina added a comedy show that the guest could attend for after dinner and the entertainment shows in the Pantheon Theater.

Already Planning My Next Trip on MSC Divina by MamaG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first time on MSC and before we were done I had decided that I want to take my parents and friends with us next time.  We arrived at the port between 2:45-3:00 and it took less than 10 minutes to be processed and on board.  Our room was ready and we didn't have any issues getting service from the waiters or bartenders.  We ate every night in the Black Crab and loved our wait staff.  The food was good and the tiramisu is NOT to be missed, it was incredible.  We thought the entertainment team was very talented, but after 3 nights of Italian opera, a change was needed.  We didn't go back until the last night for the Michael Jackson show.  More comedians would be good, we really liked "Beerprov", but I can see that it wouldn't translate well into other languages.  A better system needs to be implemented when it comes to the pool deck chairs, people place their towels on the chairs and leave them all day, finding an empty spot is almost impossible.  I was disappointed that they removed the craps tables in the casino and other lines have snacks after midnight for late night gamblers.  We enjoyed this cruise very much, but the 7:00 am room departure on the last day is a bit rough.  Would definitely go again.

MSC Divina by gh5615

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise on the MSC Divina was excellent.  The ship is wonderful.  Almost new.  The pool areas and decks were large enough and fully staffed to be kept super clean.  The onboard food was very very good.  Different menus every night with some pretty exotic choices throughout the week.  The staterooms were comfortable and adequately sized.  Beds were comfortable and daily housekeeping was superb.  The entertainment staff were all cheerful and went out of their way when needed.  The shows were terrific.  Especially the Treasure Island show and the Michael Jackson tribute show.  We are giving the cruise a 4,star rating.  Highly recommended.  Our only problem with the cruise was the lack of wifi for anyone without paying exorbitant fees.  In this day and age where wifi is literally everywhere, there is no excuse for this.  Wifi is not a luxury anymore.  We have decided not to go on any cruise ship again unless there is free wifi available 24/7.  Other than this one complaint we give MSC Divina 2 big thumbs up.

Good and bad by dejaaboo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This wasn't my first cruise but it was my first time on Msc. The ship it self is absolutely beautiful. However, there was nothing to actually do on the ship. For someone as young as myself (22), my boyfriend and I were often bored. Sure, there are shows here and there but there was nothing to do that was entertaining. The highlight of our trip was definitely the bartender. Anthony Pereira from India is the man!!! He was so friendly and his customer service skills were amazing! At night he would bartend at the casino. He greeted us whenever he'd see us. His drinks were specially made and always did the job. Never once were we disappointed. GIVE HIM A RAISE!!! He definitely deserves it. Other than that the buffet was good, however they served the same thing each night. Also, no one tells you that they charge you to fix the beds 3 times a day!! I could've done that myself. Over all it's not a bad ship. I probably won't travel with Msc again but if I do it would definitely be for the bartender.

Amazing Experience! by mjmeszko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My mom and I just returned from the 7-day Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the MSC Divina, and it was beyond amazing! I can not wait until we book our next cruise! The overall experience was remarkable. The staff on board is very on top of everything. I swear that housekeeping was waiting for us to leave because every time we came back to the room it was in tip-top shape! Reception was very helpful. We went on one excursion through MSC. We were initially told that the excursions were all full for St. Thomas, but when we went back later another gentleman helped us and we were able to get on the Pirate Schooner for snorkeling with turtles, which was so much fun! All of the waiters/waitresses were friendly and attentive. My mom and I especially enjoyed dining at The Black Crab. Our second night there we were seated with Erick and Novan, and requested to be with them for the remainder of our cruise. They were so personable, attentive, and outgoing with all of their tables. We enjoyed talking with them, and they made the experience even more amazing. They made recommendations for food when it was had to choose and just did everything to make our experience a pleasant one. I think that I may miss them the most! The Buffet is good for a quick meal because it can get crowded, but the food is delicious as well. Just make sure to make it all the way down for some more unique dishes! They also have some amazing photographers on board (although I will admit some not so great ones so I would recommend having your photo taken by a few different people), but when you find a good one, they take amazing photographs. It was hard for us to choose! We especially enjoyed Ghokan's style and photographs. The process for finding the photos is a little crazy, but you just have to be patient and remember how man other people had their pictures taken. I also think that MSC does a great job of making anything possible for their passengers. My mom and I had something planned for Great Stirrup Cay to remember my aunt who passed a few years ago, yet the water was too choppy for us to be tendered over. When we talked to reception and explained our situation, they spent all day finding a way to help us, even when we were told it was not possible to do anything. By the end of the day, we were able to celebrate my aunt, and it meant so much to my mom. I do not have enough good things to say about MSC. The whole experience was amazing. It was my first cruise, but I don't ever want to cruise with any other line! I could go on and on about how amazing our experience was! I very highly recommend MSC to anyone looking to take a cruise!

Need a Back-up Plan by phartling

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

In almost any business it is good to have a "back-up Plan". I am sure that there are complications of which I am unaware but when a ship cannot stop at a port in this case the Beach day at G. Stirrup Cay they should in my opinion proceeded to Nassau or Key West or somewhere else to round out the itinerary. The ship was beautiful and the food was excellent but we did not go on the MSC expecting it to be a Royal Carribean or Celebrity or Princess. If we had we would have been disappointed. Staff are not as well trained or as attentive as on the other lines mentioned and the entertainment is not of the same caliber but as I said we were not expecting it to be so were neither surprised nor particularly upset. It was a good rest and like I said a beautiful ship.

AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL VACATION!!! by gleonard1990

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have NEVER traveled on such a clean ship as the MSC Divina!!! I felt so comfortable and clean the whole time. Words can't express how hard our housekeeper worked from sunrise to sunset to make sure our experience was perfect. I would love to make sure he is recognized!! The same goes for our wait staff at dinner every night!! He always had the biggest time and the main reason we always are in the dining room for dinner! The entertainment was awesome and always a great night. I truly don't have anything bad to say. It was some of the best food I've ever eaten(specially dessert)! LOVED the drink coupon idea instead of being forced to buy a package. We are already planning our next cruise with MSC. We bought two pieces of art that we can't wait to get shipped to us. Bonus we had a full size tub in our balcony room!!! Everything was perfect, keep it up MSC!!

Beautiful ship by Cruiser457

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is regal without a doubt and we enjoyed exploring the lounges and cafes etc.     The entertainment was level 5 and we often saw the entertainment team around the ship and off of it giving a lot of fun to the day or evening.   Very friendly staff all over the ship and we travel  often to have other comparisons to make.    We would have rated the ship and cruise a 5 except for the food.   Our balcony cabin was very nice .and enjoyed having a fridge to tuck little snacks in for later.     The Food had a lot of variety but we did not find the quality that we expected.     It was just not tasty and often did not finished a meal.   We only went to the dining room on time and that was at lunch but we heard 6 other people discussing the past meals as just edible and that did not encourage us to eat at the dining room.    The buffet was varied and the dining areas were pleasant as well as the staff there who where very nice and friendly.    But over all the food was just so so.

Wonderful Getaway by Cruiser574

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our cruse on the Divina was wonderful.  The ship was spotless, due to the tireless work of all the crew .  Our cabin attendant kept our room in a wonderfully clean and ordered condition and the wait staff in the Black Crab Restaurant treated us as family.  We celebrated a 75th birthday while on board and our head waiter made the experience a happy, memorable one.

Changed by RPACKWOO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Breakfast and lunch in the dinning room is not organized. Know one is assigned a table, so waiters just look past you, and you wait. The Buffet didn't offer much to go with their salads. It is an Italian Cruise Line, and there were no black olives for the salad bar the whole 11 days. I tried to order a martini up with an olive. I tried for three days and finally gave up. First day the used Martini & Rossi Blanco for Vermouth, Second day they said didn't have any olives, so they couldn't make a martini. The third day they had olives, they had Vermouth, but they mixed the drink 50/50 each. I gave up and drank Jim Bean Black Label for the rest of the cruise. The Divina is still the most beautiful ship afloat as of today and has nothing but Broadway class entertainment. I hope they can fix their problems. This was our 4 cruise with MSC, and our second cruise on the Divina. All other aspects of the cruise was First Class. Thank you.

Terrible Service by Cruiser679

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Very disappointed. I went on this cruise because I am a travel agent and wanted to experience MSC first hand to recommend it to my clients. The MSC Divina ship itself is beautiful but that's where it ends. The website for booking excursions and on board packages was difficult to use and was unavailable most of the times I tried to use it prior to sailing,  having to check in before boarding and then having to stand in multiple lines once on board to set up my on board account and to collect drink coupons was not the enjoyable start of vacation I am used to from other lines. The majority of staff on board spoke little or no English. There were only 2 servers that were friendly and seemed to enjoy their job...our main dining room server and one waitress at the Cafe Italia. Bartenders would not acknowledge you at the bar, servers did not come around to the lounge chairs to offer/take drink orders, the bartenders at the wine bar were not even familiar with the names of the 13 wines offered. ..when ordering a particular wine each night before dinner (to the same and multiple bartenders), they did not recognize the name and even when showing it to them on the menu they had trouble picking it out from the small line of choices on the wall display. There were very few daytime activity options onboard. The weather was poor for the entire weekend which was no fault of MSC and I had expected the weather to be bad but they did nothing to offer things to do since the outdoor pools were unusable and indoor ones very crowded. There seemed to be a lot of late night activities in the various bars but we are not night owls so we did not benefit from that. The entertainment shows were excellent with the exception of the lip syncing. And finally the food was boring and prepared poorly. Steak in the main dining room was no more than half an inch thick, risotto was sticky and tasteless - our entire table had to send it back. The buffet was boring with exception of the excellent pizza station. Overall it was the worst cruise I've been on and not only because of subjective reasons such as food preferences but mainly due to the poor quality service standards. One major issue I forgot to mention was cleanliness. .on multiple ocassions we had to tell cleaning staff that thete was not soap available in the public restroom, one time immediately following it being serviced and our stateroom did not have soap in the dink dispenser. When brought to the attention of our room stewardess she only added water to it. There were minimal hand sanitizer stations compared to other lines and no attention to requesting that guests use sanitizer when entering food areas.

Rock band member dies on ship, not good for grandkids by Mscneveragain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Honestly words can't describe. Wanted to take 5 & 7 year old grand kids on "kids sail for free" cruise. Turns out 50% of ship was chartered to rock bands and fans. Walking around Sunday kids seeing "RIP" on a bunch of cabin doors asking what that means. How do you respond MSC?????  Horrifying, disturbing, and unforgettable.

They have reservations of rock groups which comes with their fans and all entertainment agenda just disaster because the Rock bands take all stages . All entertainment cancels or change schedule. And the main problem that they don't even inform us before selling tickets. Also after our cruise with rock groups immediately comes another one when we disambark

MSC Divina=Favorite Ship by LauraRDumbrys

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

After more than 35 cruises on 8 different cruise lines, MSC DIVINA is our #1 choice of ships. We have sailed on her 4 times and are looking forward to more.

Even though she is a large ship, it is easy to get around and the areas are set off from each other so that they are not overwhelming. It is beautiful and elegant without being over done or stuffy.

We had 9 different shows on our 10 day cruise and each one was very well done.  My husband usually attends 1 or 2 shows on a cruise but he didn't miss any on here.  The sound system, costumes, simple scenery and quality of performers were outstanding. The lounge acts after the shows were also very well attended and the theater performers often joined in.

Drink vouchers save money without having to buy expensive packages for everyone in your cabin.  If they improved the dinner food quality...medium rare is a lost concept...everything would be 5 stars! Service with a smile in all areas.
