Review summary

Honestly words can't describe. Wanted to take 5 & 7 year old grand kids on "kids sail for free" cruise. Turns out 50% of ship was chartered to rock bands and fans. Walking around Sunday kids seeing "RIP" on a bunch of cabin doors asking what that means. How do you respond MSC?????  Horrifying, disturbing, and unforgettable.

Oh wow, so that was just this week then, what a shame. RIP Mr. Bain. Thank you for all the memorable bass lines. Grandma/Grandpa there is nothing MSC could have done about that. I hope you don't hold it against them in the future. Look for the silver lining.

No, it was Jimmy Bain who played in Dio and Rainbow. http://m.tmz.com/#article/2016/01/27/jimmy-bain-death-announcement-def-leppard-cruise/

I wonder, was it Lemmy that had passed away during the trip, thus the RIP on the doors?

I concede the "hard rock" description. :-) They have borderlined poppy as of late.

While Def Leppard and the words "hard Rock" should never be used to describe each other, I totally agree with the rest of what budhakitty said. You can't blame MSC if research on your end was not done. I can't imagine a single member of that band or their fan base being so out of control that it scarred your grand children. A few questions to the MSC crew and honest answers for your little ones could have explained the RIP situation very easily. You are lucky the guy standing next to me in my picture and his band were not on that boat. That's a whole other story. Hahaha. Open your mind, live a little more and let the kids experience everything this world has to offer. My two would have gone bananas for a surprise like that.

Also, the RIP was not an effort to be offensive. A follow musician who was a good friend of the band passed away while the band was on the trip. The band and fans alike were paying tribute to this individual.

so did you watch the show?

It does appear that MSC does post their themed cruises: https://www.msccruisesusa.com/en-us/Cruise-Deals/Theme-Cruises.aspx

That was the Def Leppard Cruise (a very popular British hard rock band from the 1980s). Often cruise lines do not post about their themed cruises. But there are websites you can check prior to your booking or you can ask your travel agent to check for you. The situation you encountered on MSC can honestly happen on any cruise.
