Review summary

In almost any business it is good to have a "back-up Plan". I am sure that there are complications of which I am unaware but when a ship cannot stop at a port in this case the Beach day at G. Stirrup Cay they should in my opinion proceeded to Nassau or Key West or somewhere else to round out the itinerary. The ship was beautiful and the food was excellent but we did not go on the MSC expecting it to be a Royal Carribean or Celebrity or Princess. If we had we would have been disappointed. Staff are not as well trained or as attentive as on the other lines mentioned and the entertainment is not of the same caliber but as I said we were not expecting it to be so were neither surprised nor particularly upset. It was a good rest and like I said a beautiful ship.

Love the extra large balcony. Cabin was roomy and had lots of storage space.

Ship tip

Food was very good. But go on it with lower expectations than RC or Celebrity.

If you cannot stop at this port have a backup plan please. It was so disappointing.

There are always "things" that can come up as you are depending on weather and nature for conditions to be optimal. On the converse side our MSC Divina cruise in September 2014 warranted our stop at GSC to be cancelled as well due to weather in that area but we were able to stop at Grand Turk instead so they do try to make it the best they can when conditions and open ports allow!

Yes, I've seen someone's personal video on YouTube where MSC anchored close to a port and had tender boats get the guests. I thought that was awesome!

The boats always have an option to set anchor and send tender boats to shore. No additional costs. I've sailed with other cruise lines and they have gone to a different island without rough seas and done this. Just depends on where you are, there's always a reason please never assume.

I was on the Divina 2-13 to 2-20, from what I hear they frequently do not stop at the Private island.. Not a good practice. Three were a lot of angry people that day.😝

Ports are business, a ship can't just suddenly show up on an unscheduled port and dock whenever the captain feels like it.

From what I understand ships book ports well in advance they can't just pull into a different port if they have an issue. Nassau is usually very busy they may not have had the availability to go there.
