Good cruise if first time by JanineM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have cruised many times, many lines with our children 3-21 years old. This ship was overall very beautiful and good. The ship is huge but you never felt like you were crowded. The pools are a wonderful size to really accomadate a family who wants to hang out together. Many other lines have small family pools which makes that really hard. The only downside was the food and staff. The food was mass produced, always looked pretty but never really tasted good. The staff overall besides the wait staff was overall unfriendly and had no problem using guests bathrooms and smoking on the decks. They definitly didn't make you feel pampered or special like on other ships. Something I sure want for the money. I'd do it again for a special rate or a quick get away though, not for my big cruise or long awaited vacation.

A disappointing cruise! by FrancesM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Mariner was a beautiful ship, but the food was terrible and out of all the entertainment the good thing was the ice show and two comedians. Really never were informed where to go and what was going on unless you watched your tv all day. In our opinion the Carnival is a much more organized, fun and certainly better food cruise for your money.

A fantastic time! by CaroleB5

Ship was clean (of course) - personnel were courteous and helpful. Entertainment was okay. I have seen better shows on Carnival and Celebrity. However, the comedian was great!

A big disappointment. by BarbaraM31

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I really was not satisfied at all with the rooms and the food. I have been on the Carnival ships three times and also on the Coasta Riviera once, which were all excellent. Their food was out of this world and the rooms very much nicer. I wanted to try something different so my sister and her husband and myself and my husband said we would try the Royal Carribean. I will never go on it again and either would my sister and her husband. I was really disappointed.

Cruising 2007 on Mariner of the Seas by Sue96329361

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Mariner of the Seas is on of the greatest ships of all. It can accommodate 3500 guests and many staff personnel. Everything on this ship was spotless. We could tell that the staff cared how the ship looked and found them painting, sanding, window-washing and just about everything that involves keeping this ship perfect. The food was phenomenal and presented beautiflly. There was plenty of things to do on board as well as at ports of call. Several different bars with different themes to suite everyone's taste with live music, great shows in the theater that you never want to miss and want to see again and again, demonstrations of all kinds and even an opportunity to learn something new like play the steel drums! There was even an ice skating rink on this ship! Wow! The staff are all so nice and friendly -- smiles galore! The dinning rooms are just breath-taking with the best wait-staff in the world. We will definitely be booking again on this ship in the very near future.

Great vamily cruise by SweetsF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Ship and crew the service were incredible. We had a great time, words can't describe the experience, and this is my 9th cruise (3rd w/RCI). The nightly shows were as good as Vega's. The departure was as smooth as i have ever seen. One thing i strongly recomend is to pay the $5 p/bag pre-checking option. You get boarding passes and miss out on the airport bag hassle. This is a must in my opinion!!!

The ship is fantastic and the staff was wonderful. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The staff takes great care to keep the ship amazingly clean and sterile! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Marvelous Mariner by JohnB64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The large ships of RCCL offer a sailing experience that is hard to beat. We have cruised several lines over the last 25 year, but keep returning to RCCL because they seem to get more things right more often than the others. The size of the ships provides more options for activities to be designed for different age groups and interests. This variety means that you don't have to settle for what is planned in any one part of the ship.

Memories Made on the Mariner of the Seas by Roger225774512

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great cruise aboard the Mariner of the Seas. It has helped us make many memories of celebrating our 29th anniversary. The customer service that we encountered was very good. The food was great and the dining room staff excellent. The shows were awesome including the ice show. There was never a dull moment on the ship - always plenty to do. We would definitely recommend this ship to our friends.

We always have a great time!! by DebS5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We first started off with a 3 hour delay in the parking lot because of a security threat. A bag had been left unattended and the bob squad was called in. It turned out to be a beach bag full of toys left in the terminal, but I was glad the extra security was taken seriously for our safety. Then we missed our first port of call, Coco Cay, because of rough seas and they couldn't tender us safely. But then we had a great day at sea instead. The ship was a beautiful ship with a street right down the middle. Little pubs, shopping areas, places to relax, coffee, tea, ice cream, tattoos...you name it. It was a fun place to be. I was disappointed I could not stay awake long enough to enjoy the parades at night along this avenue. The ice skating rink was a blast. Where else can you go and wear a bathing suit and ice skate? The Ice Skating show was fabulous. Best show on the ship. The entertainment in the main showroom was O.K. I enjoyed it but felt it was rather average. We had fun at the art auctions. This is something you don't do everyday. It is fun to learn about the different artist and their works. I do have to say I am running out of walls at home to display my works. The pools were always crowded. This is the only place I really saw kids. We went into the solarium. The pool was rather crowded with just room to stand and cool down but at least it was all adults. One thing,we felt the drinks were VERY expensive. Although this is true on every cruise ship. We had a great time and our only complaint is that is was not long enough. We would recommend this cruise to everyone. I do have to say, you make your own fun on a cruise. If you go with an attitude, you will find something to gripe about. Chill out...your'e on VACATION!!!

A wonderful vacation! by BethM3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Overall, I'd have to say this is the best of the four cruises I've been on! Despite some difficulties going through check-in and bad weather the day we departed (all of which were beyond RCL's control), the rest of the week was great! We didn't get to stop at Cococay due to rough seas, but the other stops were beautiful and worth going to see. I give extra points to the Cruise Director, Graham - he kept us in stitches all week!

A relaxing vacation by 67

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This is a lovely ship, very large, like a floating hotel. All amenities. Beautiful three tiered dining room. Many small bars and restaurants on the promenade deck. Ice skating rink was a detriment to easy travel between my stateroom and other floors of the ship, but a minor inconvenience in view of the excellent and brilliantly executed Ice Show presented.

This was our third cruise with Royal Caribbean, but the first on the Mariner of the Seas...it is huge!!!! and has something for everyone..while I thought 7 days might be too long for us, it turned out we didn't want to come home...and are already looking for our next one to book...Don't miss Dunn's Falls in Jamaica...tour through Grand Cayman, just okay...Cozumel has best prices on souvenirs and excellent tequila!!!!

A Great Vacation by AmyC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was beautiful! There is always something going on. I liked that there were decks on floor 4 in addition to the upper decks. You could get out and see the ocean without all the crowds on the lower decks. The crew was top notch. Though we are not high rollers and about as average as you can get, the staff remembered us every time and made our stay very personalized.

This was my 3rd cruise and I really did like it, The ship was very nice, and the people were nice as well, The only thing that I didn't like I wish we could have stayed all night at one port. There was so much to do on the ship that you could not do it all. Now I need a vacation from my vcation, ha ha
