Get an assigned mealtime, the open setting can get a little hectic.

If you take the train to San Diego the pier is about a half mile from the train station

Choose it if you’re looking for a nice, fairly quiet, relaxing time.

Do not take this cruise unless you are OLD and/ or handicap. The average age was 80+ with many, many handicap. I never saw so so many walkers, scooters, canes, etc. I’m so many different variations and colors.

Keep your expectations low. And be prepared to spend alot of time in line for food or shows. Come early and get a table for dining and never leave. Go to the world stage an hour before the door opens to get a good seat.

Don’t do it unless you’re physically challenged and over 80.

Get a cabin mid ship because this class of vessel is bigger than other HAL ships.

Be nice to the crew. How would you like to work 12 hours a day seven days a week, for 9 months with no days off!?

It is a great ship but the activities other than music venues were abit boring for us so we didn't attend. Such as bingo, painting and origami.

Alaska is Holland Americas speciality

Our room shuddered all the time when the engines were running, worst noise ever starboard side forward, wouldn’t choose that area again

Avoid the Lido Market. It’s overly crowded, probably due to all the space that’s now consumed by the various specialty dining areas. The crowd in the Lido dining area really took the enjoyment away. My sister and I both picked up an upper respiratory bug, viral bronchitis I believe. Take immune support before you travel.

LOVE Grand Dutch Cafe for coffee, snacks and light meals - excellent pea soup (even if you think you don't like pea soup!).

The $50 a day all-in promotion is a good deal. We got the booze package, wifi, $100 each excursion credit, and one specialty dining. Much cheaper than other cruise lines and totally worth it.

Look at your excursion reviews before you decide which one to book.

The buffet in the morning can be very busy but the pool deck has seating and it's much quieter and calmer there.

It's a great time if you are there to see Alaska and have a chill time. Definitely not a party/activity driven boat. It's almost all elderly people and the ship is geared to that audience.
