Review summary

We were a group of 4 ranging from 17 to 79 years old and we all had an amazing time. The ship was laid out well. It was at full-capacity but it never felt crowded to me. The buffet was busy at times, but that's typical for most cruises. The itinerary was awesome and we all enjoyed the beautiful scenery. The ship had plenty of activities to keep us busy. There's a library and lots of games in the Crow's Nest. There were plenty of options for food and drinks and we absolutely loved the dinners in the main dining room. What I really liked about the cruise is that it's a quieter experience than some other cruise lines. With that being said, it's not boring at all. The guests and staff were all really fun and the evening entertainment was great. I would cruise on the Koningsdam again in a heartbeat.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation at Canada Place was long and crowded. There were two ships boarding. The port workers were striking so that was probably a big part of the delays.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at Pinnacle Grill once, and all our other dinners were in the main dining room. The food in the MDR was outstanding. The Pinnacle Grill was good. Breakfast was usually room service or the buffet and lunch was generally in the buffet if we were on the ship. The buffet was good with lots of variety.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pool is in a covered dome area, so the temperature inside was comfortable for swimming. The fitness center had plenty of equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. There was also a wide selection of free weights and weight machines.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
If you go in knowing this is a quieter ship, you will not be disappointed in the entertainment. There are things going on all day and I especially liked the enrichment presentations on the world stage. The evening music was great, too. We watched the dance group as well as the singing group and both were very enjoyable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff was top-notch. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The design of he ship is classic. I thought it was quite pretty inside with fresh flowers in vases throughout the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size was perfect for 2 people. There was a lot of closet and storage space. The shower has a glass door and not a curtain which I appreciate. There was a small desk and small couch as well.

Ship tip

The buffet in the morning can be very busy but the pool deck has seating and it's much quieter and calmer there.
