We chose the anytime dining which allows you to meet new people and share adventures and other cruises they have taken or have planned. Do take a sweater in the dining room and auditorium which were a little cool. Loved the Art Auctions and even bought our first selection of Art..A Thomas Kincaid.

Consider that the Island Princess has a high passenger/crew ratio and very crowded at peak dining hours.

Get a sticker for your forehead that reads 'I'm not interested' for the sales people, it will save you a ton of time ;-)

We ate at the early dinner seating. It allowed us to attend the first show every evening. We enjoyed that timing and experience. Think long and hard about better coffee. Not good in the Horizon. All the other food was great.

Choose early shared dining to get to know your table mates and see the early shows. We started with anytime dining which turned out to be wait-in-line dining, not good.

Evening can be a windy and cool so bring a light coat for on deck outings. Loved the movies under the stars but was very cold so dress warm. If planning on attending a show get there plenty early for a seat if planning on the early show. No problem is going to late show.

If you take the Anytime Dining you may want to dine later as on our trip there were so many Traditional Diners with the early seating that they took 1/3 of the Anytime Dining restaurant so it was hard to get a seat.

Take along a compassionate and curious attitude, show up for every event early (if you want a seat, or a yoga mat, or to eat by a window, etc.)

I would choose early dining as opposed to anytime dining. It is very nice to get to know your wait staff.

There are plenty of places to sit and unwind throughout the ship. Note the comment about a room under the pool.

Book your own excursions... if you know how to do so on your own. It is much cheaper. Take warm clothes and rain gear so your trip is not ruined by bad weather. There are LOTS of people trying to do the same thing at the same time, so plan for this when getting off & on ship, shows fill up fast.

Theater is small, so go early if you want a seat. Food was excellent in both the dining room and the buffet.
