Review summary

I liked the cruise as a whole. There were moments like the shore excursion in Barcelona that made me feel like I will never do an excursion again. I felt the staff was amazing and tried hard to make us have a good time. I felt that parents did not always watch their children and there should be more rules regarding children's noise levels and running in the halls- curfew I believe was around 1am so the children in the room next to us and two doors down would run and scream in the halls around 10:30pm and wake us up which was not ideal. It was not relaxing in that respect for Child-less adults due to the sheer amount of unsupervised children, but the only thing royal Caribbean can do is place more rules regarding noise and running and parents supervising children. The curfew should have been earlier as well. Royal Caribbean can improve on having more friendly and knowledgeable shore excursion attendants who will check with others if they are not sure of an answer instead of guessing. It was also quite crowded on the boat often times and it would take a bit to stand in line for food at places such as sorrentos or cafe promenade. Windjammer was also very difficult to eat at (no place to sit or long lines and popular dining options being unavailable) during popular dining times due to everyone trying to make the shows. Other than that, I liked the staff a great deal and the entertainment. The dining room food was great and it was a good cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Needed a bit more variety in the buffet and more open times

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I took part in almost all live shows at 7 or 9, took part in hot tubs, and movies. I liked almost all of the live shows but the timings were not always ideal. For example: shows at 7 or 9; we couldn't make the 7 if our dinner was at 6 so we would rush through dinner but the 9 show was always too late. Perhaps a 7:30 and a 9:30 so dinner attendees at 6 could still attend the 7:30. Also sometimes there were some gaps where i wish movies in the theatre were offered. I loved the "a star is born" showing, but other shows would be very late like "miss bala" at 10:45. I must say though that Allison and Mark were very likeable and tried their best to give us the maximum in entertainment so I must give them that acknowledgement.

Entertainment

Wonderful live music, the house band and the pool entertainers were just amazing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I thought that the stateroom attendants and waiters in the dining rooms were amazing, I did however sometimes feel like the shore excursions and guest services members (some of these members, not all) were not as friendly or helpful as others were. I was actually misinformed on a shore excursion experience and was very dissatisfied with that but all the other staff were excellent.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Well maintained the staff was the main reason I enjoyed myself. They were friendly and amazing. Augn and Somduth at the dining room and Purab as the stateroom attendant and many more than I can name...they all cared so much about their jobs and worked extremely hard for everyone on the cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Rooms were very small but otherwise good.

Ship tip

There are many children on this cruise and they were not always supervised by parents which wasn't the most pleasant so please be patient as they may sometimes be very loud and run around the ship which can present safety concerns and was not ideal for adults without children.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
There was not any time to explore this port so I cannot really say much.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

5 out of 5
I felt that Gibraltar was great, but there was mot much to do and felt there were other ports I felt we could have spent more time in instead such as Barcelona.

Cannes, France

I did an excursion and loved my experience! It was beautiful.

Barcelona, Spain

I was most excited for Barcelona, and purchased a shore excursion because I was told I'd see the sagrada familia, I also asked if we would also see inside casa Batlo and was told yes for the "gaudi Barcelona" tour. I was extremely disappointed because we drove by casa Batlo for 1 minute and I could not even see it from my side of the bus. When I mentioned this to shore excursion to get a refund since I purchased two tickets for this excursion at almost $200 because I wanted to see Sagrada and Batlo inside, they had misinformed me and weren't always knowledgeable about the ports or the tours outside of the very basic one line discription in the shore excursion book. I was offerred 10% refund so I will no longer be doing any future excursions with royal Caribbean based on that experience.

Valencia, Spain

There was not much to explore and there wasn't much time but that worked out well for this port.
