Relaxing Cruise by Dg1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was my first cruise on a Royal Caribbean ship. I have previously sailed on Princess, Celebrity, American, Commadore, Carnival, and Norweigen. This cruise should be compared to the midsize Carnival ships, but it is not a party ship. Very peaceful. The average age on the ship appeared to be fifty to sixty. I didn't see many children or teens. The ones that I saw were well behaved. The staff service was excellent and they were also very friendly. The entertainment was good. The ports of call were very short in duration. Most of the seafood on the menu was good, but the people at our table who preferred beef were not pleased. The check-in process was extremely lengthy at the pier and we had to leave our rooms by 8:00 A.M to sit in public areas for two hours to disembark the ship. Dress for the last night on the ship was Casual Elegent, but most people ignored this advice and dressed causual in order to pack before dinner.

The ship was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool area was always neat and safe. The layout and information on where everything was was easy to follow.

It was adequate. by DiannaK

Sail date: /
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The meals have grown predictable and the dishes found in the Wind Jammer really need replacing. Some members of the wait staff seemed to want us to be gone. Puerto Rico had been a place we wanted to see, but arriving at 2:00 in the afternoon on a Sunday meant limited excursions and time on shore. Too little time was given for St. Thomas; one couldn't go shopping and enjoy an excursion. Would rather have been allowed to stay in port an extra day than be at sea so much.

Nice facilities, given the ship size. Staff not impressive (with a few outstanding folks). Dining room staff forgetful, slow. Food quality average at best (buffets fair at best). Looks like we'll go back to Princess.

Caribbean Getaway by PhoebeK

Very pretty; very clean. In fact, there appeared to be a major effort to keep the ship clean throughout the cruise. Almost every staff member was friendly and helpful.

A Fabulous Vacation by AnnaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was the second cruise that my husband and I have taken and we certainly plan to take more cruises. The Grandeur of the Seas is a fantastic ship from stem to stern. Beginning with the decor of the ship itself, to the Captain (who started the day we boarded Grandeur), to the fantastic most friendliest and helpful crew ever! We had such a wonderful and relaxing time. Our cruise was to Bermuda, which, of course, is a beautiful island. We spent a day and a half sailing both ways and enjoyed every moment of it. The food was so good! Especially, in the Great Gatsby dining room. Our head waiter, Katrina, was wonderful! We certainly had enough time to relax and rest, which was most needed, to also enjoying the shows and performances of the dancers and singers. I also really loved the Cruise Director, Simeon! I thought he was great! It was just a fantastic trip and we can't wait to go again with Royal Caribbean.

fairly good cruise by JackS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Not as good as Brilliance overall. Dining room menu not as good (no lobster, no baked Alaska) our medium and mediun well Angus steaks were well-well done and dry, entertainment not as good. The buffet items not as varied as Brilliance of the seas. Pork or lamb was always at the carving station.Att lunch the only choices to drink besides coffee and tea were lemonade and water. When I asked about apple juice or something besides lemonade I was told apple juice was only for breakfast. The last morning at breakfast service was poor and coffee was available only after long waits.

We thought the ship was beautiful and everyone who worked on the ship were so very helpful. The entertainment was terrific. The cruise director and others were very upbeat and got the crowd involved. We would definetly take another cruise in the near future.

GRANDEUR OF THE SEAS OUT OF BALTIMORE TO SAN JUAN, SANTA DOMINGO AND LABADEE WAS THE BEST VACATION EVER. LABADEE WAS THE MOST PEACEFUL DAY WE HAVE EVER SPENT TOGETHER AND THE CREW WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ENSURE EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. OUR CRUISE DIRECTOR, SIMEON BAKER, ROCKS. HE IS THE BEST. AND OUT WAITERS, BRUNO AND JANET WERE OUTSTANDING. IT WAS MY SECOND ON THE GRANDEUR AND I AM GETTING READY TO BOOK FOR US AGAIN IN NOVEMBER.

"Extreme Disappointment" by SusanC19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

This was my first cruise experience and my first time to Bermuda, which was a birthday present and I was very excitied. I have not had the opportunity to travel in quite sometime due to the fact that Iam a caregiver for my Mom and my work schedule is not very flexible, so needless to say I was very happy about this trip. Unfortunately, the cruise ship was experiencing an electrical problem which forced them to sail at slower knots, as a result upon arriving to the Port of Baltimore at our designated time of 12 noon, we were handed a flyer stating the situation and explaining that the ship was going to be sailing later, about 6:30pm instead of its original time of 4:00pm, we would also be arriving in Bermuda a bit later that 11:00am on Monday. Hpwever, things just got progressively worse as the day moved on. We waited in the terminal for about 6 1/2 hours, not actually boarding the ship until between 6:30-7:00pm. We did not set sail until 10:00pm that night. The cruise was very rocky and not a pleasant sail at all, it is believed that perhaps the stablizers were not operating to the fullest extent. Nevertheless, we did not arrive in Bermuda until a bit after 5:00pm on Monday not allowing us anytime that day at all because all of the shops etc in Hamilton and St. George close at 5:00pm. The next day we had to return to the ship by 2:30pm, dramatically shortening our visit in Bermuda, which is the sole purpose of my trip, to see this island. Royal Carribean gave those in staterooms a $300.00 credit toward our onboard expenses, which truly cannot compensate for the lost time in Bermuda. I feel that the money spent on this cruise was wasted and my disappointment is immense. I understand that sometimes there are circumstances beyond control, however, I feel that in light of this, the most important people involved, the customers, should have been compsensated much more.

Not so Grand by LindaM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship was lovely, however the food at the WindJammer was terrible. We found there were not enough places to eat other than the dining room which was wonderful and the food delicious. The liquor shop left a bottle of rum out of our order and because you cannot open the boxes until you off the ship we didn't realize it until we got home. They did however charge us for the bottle of rum. We sat in the Baltimore terminal until after 7:00 p.m. and didn't set sail until 9:30 p.m. The dining room was closed and 2400 passengers had to make do at the buffet. Lines were long and we no sooner sat down to eat and they called the Muster Drill. Due to the late arrival of the ship we travelled without the stabilizers to make up for time. Most of the passengers were seasick during the first three days of the cruise. Overall, not a very pleasant experience, especially for first time cruisers.

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I was aware of the problem with the ship before I boarded , but I never would have imagined the degree it affected the entire cruise . From fighting with everyone on ship the first evening to get something to eat at the buffet ( because the dining room was closed ) to having to wait over one hour to leave the ship in Balt. The food was average , and the buffet was always disorganized and sloppy . I will never use this service , R. C. or take another druise again .

Just a mediocre ship by BonnieF2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

This was a repositioning cruise. 4-19 through 4-26-08. Fine cruising while we were in the caribbean. On the way to last port, Bermuda, ship was rocking (4-8 ft waves), you could tell we were in the Atlantic Ocean. Apparently staff couldn't tell if people were getting sick from a virus or sea sickness because they put sickness bags handy everywhere on ship. The Captain was annoucing "please was your hands frequently". How's that for a real downer? I will never sail the Atlantic again. Finally we were told why we were late into bermuda port (engine problems). They did not get fixed and had to shut down again. Therefore we arrived into Baltimore port nine hours late. Diembarkation was terrible, you would think they never did it before! Everyone jammed with luggage on the stairs - UGH! I liked the extended vacation til we were kicked out of the rooms and everyone had to sit around public areas and babysit our luggage. Again, this ship does not have the best chefs apparently so food was just passable. And why no hand sanitizers!!! I think next cruise will be Princess lines again.

The Granduer of the Seas was grand!! by Raymond1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very clean with one ship person for every three people.. As a matter of fact, there is a woman on the ship that has her home there and has sailed over 144 times with them.. I suspect she is using it in stead of a retirement home whuich would cost much more . I am thinking about it.. The waiters are marvelous and genuinely want to make you happy.
