Caribbean Getaway

Sail Date: June 26, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Suite

Very pretty; very clean. In fact, there appeared to be a major effort to keep the ship clean throughout the cruise. Almost every staff member was friendly and helpful.

Pros: The food was better than on other cruise lines; the buffet was open every evening.

Cons: No sanitizing towelettes; not able to purchase a bottle of alcohol for room; not able to have onboard purchases shipped home

Recommends Grandeur of the Seas? Yes!

Entertainment
The guest entertainers were not as good as we'd hoped. The ship's cast were good.
Ship Quality
Food and Dining
The quality of food was excellent. It would have been nice to change tables occasionally since we weren't thrilled with our table-mates.
Cabin / Stateroom
Very good. Always clean. Our stateroom attendant made a major effort.
Service and Staff
The staff were very helpful and friendly. In ten days, only one person appeared to be a little grumpy.
San Juan, Puerto Rico
There was so much traffic that we weren't able to finish our tour. It would have been nice to visit the fort.
Samana, Dominican Republic
We missed our scheduled tour and had to take one from a vender not associated with the ship. Not a good idea. Parts of the island were beautiful, but it was depressing to see the poverty surrounding the docking area.
Labadee (Cruiseline Private Island)
The water was beautiful and the perfect temperature. We didn't go beyond the beach. The person who got our lounge chairs didn't seem happy with his tip ($1.00 per chair.) He made that fact well known.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
Shopping was best, however prices weren't as reduced as I thought they'd be.
