relaxing getaway by TedN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Grandeur of the Seas is showing some rust and the staterooms need some updating, but overall, this cruise was very enjoyable. The food was just right, the crew, especially our stateroom attendant and the dining room staff, was terrific. We wanted a relaxing break, and this cruise was just that: a good value for the money. The cruise port of Norfolk sets a good example on how to get people on and off the ship with as little frustration as possible.

First Time Cruiser...loved it! by BethJ1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

My first cruise out of Norfolk, VA to Bermuda, 4 nights 5 days. We had 3 days of clouds and rain and some lightning and thunderstorms, but even those didn't hamper my fun much. Loved the ship, wished bathrooms were a bit bigger but you don't spend a lot of time in there, so I lived! :-) Loved all the various things to do, gamble, shows, lounges, discos, art gallery, shopping, main dining was fabulous. Loved Bermuda, everyone there was very nice. Did Dolphin Quest, a bit pricey but if you love the sea, and animal life it is worth it at least just once. Wished you actually had a bit more time, and direct interaction with the dolphins, but to just be in the water and touch them or kiss their nose was wonderful! Nice beach at half moon bay, but be sure to take the taxi to the top! It's only $2 per person, and I would have paid $50!! Did shopping in the Dockyard shops, very unique and nice place to go. Watch out for driving, narrow winding roads...saw too many unstable motoscooters being passed by large buses to scare you. I would stay on the bus! Overall a 8 out of 10 for me.

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

From the beginning with coming aboard, to the end , the departure,my cruise meet all my expectations and more.Your overall staff were very well trained and it was obviously there for our enjoyment. The delightful touches to our cabin were appreciated. The food was so delicious and the shows were such a pleasant way to end an evening. Such talent! One need not be bored but rest was a lounge chair away. I especially enjoyed the five day cruise as it suited me.

A good cruise by JoanW5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

I thought the rooms were too small. The picture did not represent the ship very well. The room was falling apart. You could not take a shower with out getting the floor wet. The bathroom did not flush very well at all. We had this trouble every day.

Beautiful Bermuda by RuthG6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

The ship was very impressive in size considering that it was one of the smallest on the fleet. Our room was comfortable, but the air was not working well, and did get stuffy during the night. We had a great stateroom attendant. The pool area was a bit crowded at times, and some of the shows were crowded in the lounges, but overall, it was worth the time/expense. We enjoyed the food most of all I think.

Nice cruise!!! by KiaraP

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean

I think it's a good cruise if it's your first and you don't have anything else to compare to. It was my first one, so it was good to me. But I went with my family who had been on bigger cruises before and they kind of spoiled it for me, they kept comparing the ship with the other bigger ones and pointing out what was missing. But if you go with other people who have never been on a cruise before, you will enjoy it.

Loved the ship! by DariaW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The staff couldn't have been better! Even though we went during a spring break week, the young people on board were well behaved. I wish the ports of call were more to our liking. They were both rather sad looking and depressing and Cozumel's beach was just too crowded with all the cruise liners docked. The time schedule for onboard activities would have been of more use if the end time was also listed. We had a hard time getting to the ones we wanted because of conflicting schedules - or so we thought. We missed some because they were so short and others went on forever. The accommodations were perfect and our room attendant made the most delightful animals out of the towels. I took photos of each one to cherish. The trip to Mexico was a bit rough but the return journey was smooth and relaxing. Overall, I would travel on a Royal Caribbean ship again but not to Costa Maya or Cozumel.

great family time cruise!!! by Jennifer6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the ship was great! very easy to get around. the entertainment was very good as well. the rooms were smaller than I have experienced before, but alot of storage space. Not enough hooks to hang things like wet suits, and we had 5 wet bathing suits to deal with everyday. they don't dry at all in a little room with little ventilation. Overall we had a great family vacation and I would take this ship on a cruise again. Costa Maya was a joke. The Mayan Ruins were okay at best and we had a difficult time finding our excursion guide. They speak very little english and you feel like they are always trying to rip you off. the wait staff and food was AWSOME! my kids felt like litlle princes and princesses. I have been on Royal Carribbean before, and this was the best yet!

Nice get away by AngelaR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was great leaving out of Tampa! We live about an hour away so it was easy to get to and the port was well staffed. We barely waited in line to get on & off the ship. Make sure to be aware of how much alcohol you can bring back from your destinations. We were only allowed 1 bottle per person tax free. Any more and you'll have to pay almost $3 each. Also, they don't allow you to bring opened bottles on the ship because Royal's policy is to hold your alcohol once you board and give it back to you at the end of the cruise and they can't give you back an opened container. Instead of doing an expensive excursion, we got off the boat and rented a jeep from alomo for only $55 for the day. Cozumel is only 30+ miles around so it was easy to navigate. We went to the ruins and only paid $6.50 per person (where as the excursion would have been $99 per person). They were neat but not as large as the ones on the main land. Other cruisers went to Chakanub Park and said it was great, only spent about $16 per person and you can snorkel there. The seas were a little rough during our trip because of the high winds but if you go to the Pursor's Desk, they'll give you sea sickness pills for free. All over a nice trip.

Cruise staff is top notch!! by TedV

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I'd recommend a bigger ship. The day we stopped in Costa Maya the tide was very high and we were forced to leave port before getting off the ship. While Carnival and another larger ship stayed and allowed thier passengers to stay for the day. We were not offered anything from R. C. for the inconvienance.

Great time by Aw1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a beautiful and big ship, 11 stories tall, offering ever activity you could ever want to participate in. Never a dull moment! I saw great comedy and musical shows, gambled, exercised in the workout room, had a massage in the spa, read a book by the pool, danced, drank wine, eat great meals, listened to a classical concert, watched a James Bond movie, shopped on board and went snorkeling in Cozumel.

I loved the staff. Nicest people I've had in a trip. I loved the menu on the Windbreaker room where the buffett was served. Would like to see a bigger room for the workout. But overall I had I wonderful experience.

Spring Break Cruise by LisaK1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We just returned from our cruise on Grandeur of the Seas and we had a nice time. Our biggest complaint had to be all the college students and their excessive drinking and unruly behavior. I understand the cruiseline could only do so much but they really did nothing to tame them down. For example, they allowed the very drunk students in the dining room with swimsuits and cut off jeans and t-shirts. We felt that was something they could have controlled. We had teenagers on this cruise and they received a real education. Two of our girls were in the kids program for 12-14 year olds and were very disappointed in it. They tried it for 2 days and then gave up. It seems that what was scheduled to do never happened and the kids just sat around. The service in most areas was good and our cabin attendant was excellent along with the dining room staff. We have been on 20+ cruises and this was not ranked up there in the top 5 but it was not in the bottom either. We had a group of 21 and I think that was what made this cruise fun not anything Royal Caribbean did.

Great First Time Cruise by LaurieM6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Grandeur of the Seas is lovely. Everything is laid out very well, so that you can choose your day's experiences. For example, the pool activities were noisy and fun, but there were plenty of other areas where you could relax in quiet and just watch the ocean! The crew was outstanding. We didn't encounter anything but excellent service from anyone. All were friendly and eager to please guests. Our stateroom was much bigger than I expected, very nicely decorated and with an enormous amount of storage space!

It Was Okay by ValentinaM1

The ship was small, there wasn't much to do, but sit out in the sun (beautiful weather!) and tan, only at night they had some shows and such...I did Carnival 2 times before trying Royal Caribbean and both Carnival ships were waaaaay better and had so much more things going on....Royal didn't have the 24 hr Pizza Place or the 24 hr Frozen Yogurt Station or the water slide...I'm going back to Carnival!
