Wonderful Grandeur of the Seas by RicT1

Sail date: / Traveled as:
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is my seventh cruise but my first cruise on Royal Caribbean. I did a 6 night repositioning cruise on the Grandeur of the Seas. The cruise went from Fort Lauderdale to Colon, Panama in early November. I arrived at pier around 12:30pm and handed my baggage to one of the porters. Walked into the pier and headed towards the line. I found myself at the head of the line and within a minute or two I was being checked in. From getting to the pier to entering the ship took maybe 15 minutes. The check in process was very efficient. I had to wait about an hour for the rooms to be ready so I went to the Windjammer Caf for lunch. I found the buffet style Windjammer Caf to have very tasty food. When the rooms were opened I put my carryon bag in the room and changed my clothes. I met my Stewart and he introduced me to the cabin and made sure I left for the muster drill on time. The ship is very nice and kept up nicely. I spent the rest of the time, until dinner, exploring the ship and getting my bearings down. At dinner we had a great table, server and assistant. The food was creative, presented nicely and was delicious. There was no specialty restaurant on board and I didnt see anyone ordering the $15 filet in the main dining room. Went to the nightly show and then back to the room to check out the next days activities. I still havent figured out how to fit all the things that I would like to do into a day (there is always overlap making me miss things I would like to do). The captain, in his address to the guests, said he had the friendliest crew and I have to say I agree with him. I saw him in the hallway once and had to tell him I agreed with him regarding the crew. All the crew members were friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Only one small problem with the shore excursions and that was taken care of quickly (somehow half my shore excursions werent issued). That being the only bump on the cruise shows how well the crew performed their duties and a great attitude towards their work. Sadly, six nights is not very long when you are enjoying yourself. Had the same waiting for buses, customs delays and, of course, a driving rain storm that made for an interesting departure in Colon. I enjoyed it so much I am now getting ready to take a 12 night cruise on the Enchantment of the Seas.

Great cruise! Great staff! by JohnK4

This ship has an area called The Solarium which is for people over 16 - it has a glass ceiling and an indoor pool. Wonderful place to visit with people or just sit there and drool on your lap. No outdoor noises intrude. Outside pool area is lots of fun, but sometimes people don't want all that noise. Indoor pool area is great for meeting people without music playing. Not just for the blue-haired set, either.

An Excellent Experience by Shirley4

Since this was our first cruise, we were a bit concerned with getting sea sick. Not a problem. The ship was very stable and in fact, we were already moving out from port the first evening and had no idea we were moving yet!

Royal treatment, by VincentV

Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship had great facilities, they sung a Happy B-day song with matching whole chocolate cake for me & my wife. We were also surprised when we went back to our cabin to find out there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us with matching banners etc. Johnny and the Take four band were excellent entertainers and very professional. The food was great and excellent. The prices aboard the ship was fairly reasonable. Overall the cruise was a lot of fun and great memories.

Still Deciding by SherylB5

Overall we had a great time, but traveling on other ships and cruise lines I felt this boat fell short. No special buffets, actually no food besides room service and yucky snack bar that had dry pizza, cold fries and burt hotdogs after 9 pm and before 7 am. Also only 3 activities pool side

I really enjoyed this cruise. The staff is the best i've seen. The activities they have planned, if you participate, are great. they made my trip 10 times better. The shows were great also. I always could find something to do. I would refer first time cruisers to take this cruise. The food was good it could have been better, but the food at scheduled dinning times were great.

I celebrated my October 1, 2010, birthday on Grandeur of the Sea. It was an experience that will remain with me for time to come. I was really treated royally and had one of the best times of my life. We sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Key West and then, to Cozumel Mexico. All along our way, we had great entertainment experienc; I met some nice people and made some new friends. This was a remarkable time in my life.

Not 100% Satisfied by BarryB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Good rating overall, was not happy with the midnight buffet, food was fine but not enough seating, windy blowing food off of our plates, went inside the windjammer to sit down and try to enjoy our meal and they came in and requested the about 10 of us please leave the area that we weren't supposed to be in there. I threw my food away and went back to my room. They had only 1 yogurt(not ice cream) machine on the whole boat and it didn't work have the time or was covered up.

Best Ever ! by DavidW3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Grandeur of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I like the size of this ship, rather than the newer and larger freedom class ships which take you entirely too long to get from one place to another on the ship and have too many people, causing you to wait in lines. The staff on the Grandeur was the absolute best I've ever encountered. The ship is easy to get around on and the food, entertainment and staff made this one GEAT experience!
