Mixed Reviews by lrosa2006

The service provided by Reymil and Ismael in the dining room was wonderful. Both gentlemen were personable, attentive and friendly, very hardworking. We also received wonderful service in the Windjammer Café as well as at breakfast in the dining room from various servers. However, I must say that the quality of the food at times left something to be desired. Not that the meals were poor, I just expected a higher quality. The sushi was inedible in my opinion. Our housekeeper Arif (I hope I'm spelling this correctly) was also attentive to details and always left our cabin super clean. However, when we entered the cabin on the first day, it had a strange, musty smell, quite unpleasant. I truly enjoyed the illusionist and Now You See It. Those were my favorite evening entertainment shows. Thank you for your attention.

downsizing by josephturner36

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

I have been on several cruises including royal carribean and it seems royal carribean is trying to save money now or trying to be greedy. The entertainment was low cost and the food in windjammer and main dining(isaac) was cheap. It all use to be very great and something you would tell family and friends but not anymore.believe it or not, i found carnival last year to be a whole lot better.

cruise and shore excursions by dhawn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

we enjoyed our cruise  with our two teenage grandkids.  it was rather crowded in the room but we adjusted and all had a great time.  The ship and crew was very attentive and made cruise a worth while experience.  Our grandkids will remember this for along time.

The one problem we had was with our shore excursion in St Martin.   The excursion was not part of R/C sponsored one so we were on our own to get to the excursion on our own.  The people at the dock we asked for help directed us to a taxi who took us downtown and let us out with no help on where we were to go.  After asking around, we had to take another taxi back to close to the ship to arrive at the proper place.  The excursion was great and we enjoyed it.   However, we realize that this experience was our fault and will plan on booking through R/C in the future.

Our review by missmlp

We had a great time.  However we will probably stick with a newer Carnival Boat or Disney from now on.  This ship was catered more to retired folks. My hubby and I felt bored and didn't have many evening options that interest us.  The kids camp was awesome for our kids.

It was ok, but Princess was better, and had better value by cmorris38

Royal Caribbean charges fees for everything - they get you on the ship and then nickel and dime you until you have nothing left. Their drink packages are not even close to reasonable ($22/person/day for just fountain drinks; $67/person/day for alcohol). There is NO "wow factor" on this cruise.  While the ship was very clean and well maintained, and the crew friendly, they were pretty clueless about a lot of things - they seemed overworked and burnt out.  Its not hard to see why.  Cruises Only was great, so stick with them, but I guess I would recommend checking out other packages before picking this one.

Freedom of seas by tbuck699

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We last cruised 8 years ago, while we had gorgeous weather and seas that looked like glass no waves at all. Cruising has changed dramatically. I was shocked with the outsourcing of all services, the food was ok at best never really hot drink package I purchased was 44.00 a day only found I drink worth gettingcoconut mojito. Drinks watered down I believe.  Staff nice but overworked. Shows were all very good. I will not cruise again going to stick to adult only all inclusive.

Anniversary cruise by kasiunia505

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a very memorable experience.  This ship was huge and beautiful, plenty of things to do.  The shows very excellent as well as the activities, which had us laughing our butts off every night.  The food in the main dining room was excellent, and it was pretty good in the buffet.  We got the small interior cabin, even though there wasn't much to it, it was very clean and quiet at night with no vibrations. We stayed on deck 9. The ports were beautiful, excursions fun, the only thing that we were not too happy with is the people in Jamaica and Mexico pressuring you to buy their things.  Overall this was a beautiful, relaxing and fun trip.

Fun first cruise! by brendanwanlass

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the ship, staff and ports. Would recommend. Clean ship, excellent food, great staff. The ports were a lot of fun. Would recommend doing shore excursions as you can experience a lot more in the time you have. The main dining room and windjammer are where we ate all of our meals. Fantastic! The pizza shop was great for snacks. They had a variety of pizzas and Italian styled sandwiches. We hope to sail again!

Freedom of the Seas by brosfamily

Overall, a great cruise.  Great Service, buffet choices were limited for breakfast.  Stateroom kept clean but the room had a odor of body odor, the pillows as well.  Highly recommend specialty restaurants; Giovanni's, Chops Grille and Johnny Rockets, the food and service was outstanding.

Couldnt get better service or friendly faces anywhere by bugsienumber1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really enjoyed the port of calls. The people that run the ship, are great. The service is impeccable. Wether in state room or dinning room.

Unfortunately, if u want a lobster in dinning room, u have to pay for it. The food in dinning room is medioka at best. I was use to excellance when I dined last on a ship, and no matter what u ordered, I never had to pay for it b 4. Actually when I ordered their strip steak that was on their menu, I couldn't even eat it. Was the worst strip steak I ever had. As much as they charge u for a cruise, the food in main dinning room should be held to a higher level. Either it is the cook or the vendor they r using for their food, or both!!! It was bad.

Also, my husband is a smoker. They have very limited area for smokers on one side of ship by pool. When ship is at sea, every one is at pool and all the chairs are taken, even the limited 20 or so for the smokers. We were told you could smoke on your balcony on one side of the boat, so we booked that side. When on board, we found out you can not smoke on any balcony no matter what side you r on. I guess this was a case of a travel agent trying to get a booking, because we never would of went if we were told the truth.

So all in all, this is the worst experience my husband and I ever had on a cruise line b 4.

I had an awesome time, the crew and staff were all very friendly, cordial and helpful.  The ports, shops on land and on the ship offered a wide variety of options.  We will definitely be sailing with RC again.

Wonderful Honeymoon! by katiela311

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I took this cruise for our honeymoon and we had a fantastic time.  From the excursions to all the events that the cruise ship offers.  There is always something going on for everyone to enjoy.  The food is also delicious and you can always find something somewhere if you are hungry.  The staff on the ship made the experience wonderful.  Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and wanted you to have a good time.  We will definitely be booking another cruise sometime.

Joyfulness! by grat8eful

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

My recent cruise on the Freedom of the Seas Western Caribbean trip was wonderful. I enjoyed it from the beginning to end. The location of the room, atmosphere, and entertainment were more that I could hope for. I could have remained on the ship and enjoyed the accommodations for a month.

I want to share a special thanks to Katrina Freeman at Cruisealert for her assistance in making this trip a pleasure.

2nd cruise by HappyAnniversar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As we expected we had a wonderful time We went to 3 of the Restaurants that we had to pay for , very good we also went to the chefs table. This was a 5 course meal with different wines for each course. It was worth the extra money. This also came with a tour on Saturday morning of the kitchen. A nice surprise with chef Melvin. So much to do you need another week to do it all. Would highly recommend this to any one. Listen to what they tell you about going shopping and follow their recommendations. We have started to collect magnets from each Port of call as this is an inexpensive way to have a reminder of the places we have been.

Typical by fishsticks2

These caribbean cruises are all getting to be the same.  The service depends on the people.  I had some really great servers and some that should be thrown overboard.  Except for the upscale cruise lines, the food is no better than Dennys.  I never could see what all the hoopla was about.  Little by little they are taking more and more perks away from the guests.  This was my 38th cruise.  My biggest compalint is these mandatory gratutities.  A gratutity is for someone going above and beyond, and giving super great service.  I do not believe that I should have to pay a tip to the people "behind the scenes" these are the employees of the ship and they should pay them.  I have no problem paying the wait staff, except the Matre D, who I dont think I ever see, and the bartender, I dont drink.  Of course, I pay the room attendant.  I have these tips removed at customer service and pay who I want to. I was on the Freedom when she was new, and she is definately showing wear.  It was an ok cruise but nothing to get excited about. Always nice to get way at sea.

One of the Best for Us by longitude81

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

From beginning to end we enjoyed the cruise.  Traveling out of Port Canaveral was particularly beneficial to us because we live close to the port. The availability of the sauna and steam room had particular appeal to me because of my age and joint stress. So after a morning ride on RCCL's stationary bikes I was able to relax and recondition my body.  We loved the ice show and found the hoop performance absolutely amazing.  Being Diamond C&A members was the icing on the cake. The  perks were amazing.  Staff, crew and officers made this a memorably wonderful cruise.  Thank you, Krystine Harmoneyq, our agent at Cruises Only
