Review summary

We really enjoyed the port of calls. The people that run the ship, are great. The service is impeccable. Wether in state room or dinning room.

Unfortunately, if u want a lobster in dinning room, u have to pay for it. The food in dinning room is medioka at best. I was use to excellance when I dined last on a ship, and no matter what u ordered, I never had to pay for it b 4. Actually when I ordered their strip steak that was on their menu, I couldn't even eat it. Was the worst strip steak I ever had. As much as they charge u for a cruise, the food in main dinning room should be held to a higher level. Either it is the cook or the vendor they r using for their food, or both!!! It was bad.

Also, my husband is a smoker. They have very limited area for smokers on one side of ship by pool. When ship is at sea, every one is at pool and all the chairs are taken, even the limited 20 or so for the smokers. We were told you could smoke on your balcony on one side of the boat, so we booked that side. When on board, we found out you can not smoke on any balcony no matter what side you r on. I guess this was a case of a travel agent trying to get a booking, because we never would of went if we were told the truth.

So all in all, this is the worst experience my husband and I ever had on a cruise line b 4.

I wish they would have a dedicated room for smokers. I'm a non smoker and can't stand all the smoke in the casino and the smell on the promenade where the smoke billows up. I think a dedicated room would be a win / win for everyone. Lobster tails are unlimited on one of the formal nights. You might have missed that night. Keep searching for a cruise line to fit your needs. It's not Royal I guess.

Does this boat not have free lobster tail certain nights in dining room?

I believe that only HAL still permits smoking on balconies.  So, you might want to consider that cruiseline.  Be sure to confirm with the cruiseline directly when you book.  Policies change as you experienced.  I doubt if the travel agent lied.  He/she was just not up to date.  I hope that the food on your next cruise meets your expectations.

no ships allow smoking on balconies any longer, that isn't just Royal, it's Norwegian, Carnival, Princess, Disney. sounds more like a travel agency issue than a Royal, it's clearly posted all over their website that it is not allowed. Friends were just on a month ago and had lobster on the second formal night, which is something a few lines do, a different formal menu each night. If it wasn't a 7 night cruise than I am not sure, I Know Carnival stopped doing lobster night on anything less than 6 nights.

Sorry but i do not feel sorry for smokers one bit. Maybe your taste buds are destroyed by second hand smoke from your husband and therefore can't appreciate good food. There should be NO smoking at all. My friend adds, 'want some cheese with that WHINE?' We've enjoyed numerous cruises and applaud the food everywhere on the ship.
