I wasn't really impressed with food quality, restaurant selections other than steakhouse or with variety of shows. The only thing I found to be better than other cruise line ships is really few children, less rowdy people older mature groups of people and nice size pool.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Smooth, fast and straight to room after
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Main dining was not the greatest, food usually Luke warm. Buffets equal to golden corral, not good but eatible. Pinnacle grill was good.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Casino, pool and bars was the only enjoyable activity. Fitness center and pool both were a nice size.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Piano bar like watching karaoke singers playing piano, terrible. Not a lot of shows of any quality, maybe comedy but didn't make it so I can't really say. They should bring on magicians and mentalist/hypnosis.
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Service at casino was hit and miss. Sitting in bar lounge watching people play trivia, service was lacking. Bartenders on first day overwhelmed with little to no help so long wait on drinks.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Older looking ship showing some wear but layout was ok.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Camera outside my stateroom so had to Remmber to close blinds anytime I changed or took shower.
Ship tip
The food served off dining room menu is not that good but they offer an upgrade food selection for an additional $20 to $40. I upgraded twice paying on average $35 more. That extra money paid would have been better used at the Pinnicle grill which i did like.
They canceled this port due to possible bad weather,, but after the fact realized that wasnt that bad and we could have done it. Juneau was only reason I chose this trip, I had purchased a helicopter ride to walk on glacier and wasn't able to do that. Other ports were not impressive so my first trip to Alaska via cruise was a BIG disappointment.
Cute seaside town, wish I would have skipped the lumberjack show and just found a mode of transportation to tour the entire town. The lumberjack show got great reviews with a "must see" but I found the acting poor and very corny.
We got to disembark there at 8pm but had to be back on ship at 1130 pm. The trip to downtown required a 30 minute shuttle. Not worth the hassle to get off the ship, shuttle to downtown and due to time of day not be able to see or appreciate the city or its buildings. Waste of a port.
Easy we waited till last thinking most people would fet off first not true most waited till later disembarkation times. Taxi lines are a nightmare, order your transportation ahead of time. Don't use uber or lyft type rides because you have to walk 1/4 of mile further away to wait where tacis and private booked transportation/shuttles are right outside terminal
Not sure you're aware of this or not, but the Victoria (or Vancouver) stop on an Alaska cruise out of Seattle is added solely to satisfy a legal requirement. It is not, and never has been, the intention to give passengers a chance to actually see the city.
Unfortunately, it seems that since Covid we have seen a drop in many areas on the lines I sail on. Still see many pleasant crew, but you can tell they are overworked by our standards. We found Holland (which had an excellent MDR pre Covid) to be less appealing unless you were Orange, in fact we were lucky to have so much OBC that we did excellent specialty dining about 9 out of the 14 nights just because we were unhappy with most of the MDR experience.
