Good Cruise Experience by dblast27

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Prepare to be nickeled and dimed to death, there is a fee for every little thing. Food was good desserts were nasty. The stops were beautiful the only problem is all these tour guides and people trying to sell you things. Room service attendant took really good care of us. When we had a question we asked her for instructions. Great price. Pay the gratuity charge up front so that you aren't blindsided by it. Don't bring liquor on board they'll hold it until the end and charge ridiculous prices to bring theirs. $7 for a redd's apple ale (really). Would rather fly to destination, but did enjoy being in a different place every night.

It was OK... not bad..not great by cjennyj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our room was spacious, as we opted for  balcony suite.  But it was dirty, hand markings over the bed and sand all in the carpet and the shower curtain was brown from mildew.  The food was better than I expected, as the dining room staff was very attentive, the server even cut up my children's steak fr them.  I also had purchased a premium beverage card and the drinks were a little weak but as far as I could see they were using top shelf liquor and it included the Starbucks on the ship.  The pool space was EXTREMELY SMALL!!!!!!! We didn't even attempt to go in it as it was so crowded and the decking was soooo hot you would get a third degree burn from stepping on it.  Also the kids activities were always full so none of our four kids could do any of the activities and the rock wall was closed AND the bungy jump was closed, so they get a BIG two thumbs down for that.  As far as the ports we visited, Nassua Bahamas is TERRIBLE, a shanty town full of hustlers attacking you as you get off the ship, then we went to Atlantis Resort and they wanted to charge us 700.00 to go in their water park for two hours!  Needless to say we did not do that so we went back to the beach were it is was littered with broken glass.  My recommendation is to just stay on the ship.  Cococay was beautiful, we did a jet ski tour which was ok.  They gave us a very good BBQ lunch on the resort as well.  My recommendation would to be get off the ship EARLY and book ypur excursions right away, because if you don't you will not get a reservation, as it is first come first serve and it fills up quick.  We tried to go para sailing and tried to book it at 12 noon and EVERYTHING was booked for the day.  Overall an ok trip but not worth the 6000.00 price tag we paid for 2 adults and 4 kids!Nervous

It was good but not great by roush1111

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Me and my wife enjoyed ourselves, but for what we paid, we expected more.  The boat needs some serious updating for one.  The food was hit or miss, especially the breakfast in the Windjammer...but I know that they make it in bulk for a lot of people, so it is not going to be great.  The dinner in My Fair Lady was mostly good, the duck and eggplant parmigiana was great.  There was no rain when we were on the boat, so all of the entertainment and the pool was available the whole time. There were quite a few things to do, but it felt like there could be more options during the day.  We were done in the Bahamas and Cocokay before the time we had to be back on the boat, and when we got back on we ended up hanging out in our room and sleeping for a few hours because there was nothing else to do.  We had fun with some of the night activities, Love and Marriage and The Quest were the most fun things we did during the cruise.  We would cruise again, but only on a different boat, and if we pay less than we did for this one.

3 Day Enchantment by v1cd1sh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Spent three days on Enchantment of the Seas to Nassau.  The ship shows sign of age but overall it was a nice experience.  The buffet area was small and became very crowded.  The amount people versus sitting area was very hard to find a seat.  You passed on getting an omlette or eggs cause the one line was way too long to wait.  The rooms showed there age but at the same time were well maintained.  RCCs private island Coco Cay was very nice and I was quite surprised.  It was spacious and being tendered was not an issue.  The staff was top notch and for three days this was a fun time.  If I chose a seven day I would want a larger boat.  But overall a great cruise.

Enchantment of the Seas - needs a refurbishment by dojomargo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

While the staff was friendly, accommodating and professional, the ship itself needs a major overhaul.  While in the women's restroom nearest the casino, the door fell totally off the hinges next to me.  Our cabin (which I paid extra for a Junior Suite) was hardly any larger than a regular cabin on most ships....plus there was rust everywhere on the balcony and the door handle leading onto the balcony was broken.   This was my fifth RCL cruise and still my favorite line, but I'd never take a cruise on the Enchantment ever again.   I'll opt for the newer, larger ships.

Wonderful by francesevans

This was my second cruise, my 18 year old daughter's first cruise. However this was my first Royal Caribbean Cruise and I have to tell you that royal Caribbean is the way to go. We enjoyed everything about the cruise. But if we were going on a longer cruise like a week long I would want a larger ship with more activities. The only thing I would change is that I would book a shore excursion for the Bahamas. We did the enjoy our time in Port. But our time on coco cay island was incredible and the highlight of that day. I can't wait to book my next cruise!

Outdated, But Great Service by dani072607

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is somewhat old and somewhat small, like most shorter cruises. The staterooms were outdated and worn. The carpet looked dingy from wear and the tiles and shower in the bathroom did as well. The service was excellent! Our stateroom attendant, Elvin was very helpful and friendly. Our dinning room servers, Carla & Sachin were also excellent. They remembered our drink preferences and were very friendly and helpful! The food was excellent, but the portions were somewhat small. The hours for the Windjammer and the Cafe were annoying. I also did not like that if the cafe was closed, you could not get drinks even though it was a self-serve station. This is not a problem on Cranival's cruise ships. Also, the buffett-style dining area is not like a food court like you see on Carnival's ships. This means that the whole thing is closed at times, whereas on Carnival you may see a station or two closed at a time, not the whole dining area, which I liked better. The entertainment on the ship was excellent! The singers & dancers put on very good shows! The other acts--comedian & juggler--were also very good. The band & orchestra were also very good. There were a lot of excellent art pieces to look at throughout the ship. The adult area was well patrolled to keep kids out, which was nice. The adult area also has a pool and is larger than on similar sized Carnival ships. The amenities on board were somewhat lacking. It would have been nice to have putt-putt golf, billiards, or bowling on board. The poolside movies were nice, but variety would have been better. They repeated some movies during the cruise. Coco Cay is amazing! It is well developed with amenities right on the island. Overall, the cruise was nice for the money, but it may be worth it to spend a little more on a newer, nicer ship with more amenities. At Nassau we did the Forts & Pirates tour. I would not recommend it. There is not much to see at the forts as they are not very big. The pirate museum contained mostly replicas and very little actual artifacts. It was a major disappointment. If I go back I would go to Atlantis. The Nassau area is a little sketchy, but the beach is within walking distance if you do not want to spend the cash to go to Atlantis. At CoCo Cay, we did the kayaking excursion which was excellent. We also did the Treasure Hunt Snorkeling. I didn't order the kayaking & snorkeling combo because it was still listed as 1.5 hrs and I wanted to be able to snorkel at leisure. I thought maybe that was a tour group. Don't waste money doing that, the combo packs give you access to the snorkel gear the whole day, so it's worth buying it in a combo to save money. CoCo Cay was amazing! They brought food from the ship, so you did not have to go back. It was also nice to beach while feeling secure because there were only people from the ship on the island.

Cruise was better than expected for being so short, really loved the shore excursions by dtc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Would never book through cruises only again though, they repeatedly messed up the payments we made toward the cruise and never coordinated the ground transportation, even though it was paid for. We waited 3 hours to get picked up from the airport and had to get on the phone for an hour the night before to make sure the next things were getting handled, and had to pay out of pocket and get a refund for some because they dropped the ball. The Royal Caribbean part though was really great. I loved the boat, the food and the activities. We picked some pricey shore excursions (dolphin cay at Atlantis and Aquaventure and stingrays at Coco Cay) but I really liked the island and the cruise portion of our combined Universal / Royal Caribbean package.

3 Day Bahamas tour-Enchantment of the Seas by marilynjstefan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a very nice time on our first cruise.  The room was very nice and surprisingly comfortable for the size.  The crew was friendly and helpful and the food was great.  My one negative is that all of the pools were not accessible by walk in stairs, but instead you had to use a ladder to get in and out.  This is fine, but I had some physical issues that made this difficult.  This meant I couldn't use the pools and this really was a downer.

Great Trip by casondrab

Had a wonderful time. The ship is a little dated. The customer service was excellent except on formal night when we were doing pictures, the photographer was very nasty with us. But otherwise the staff was very accommodating. They remembered our names which I really like that personal touch.

Great Cruise by katferg77

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This is our first cruise with Royal Caribbean, previously we cruised with Carnival. We were very pleased with the boarding and departing of the ship. We have a son with special needs and we were worried about how he would do. The boarding was a breeze. Although this is an older ship, it was very clean and beautiful. Staff was wonderful. The only two disappointments we encountered was the room service choices were terrible, and the unloading at Coco Cay was very long. The room service was the worst I've experienced anywhere. Only a handful of choices and nothing kid friendly or anything I even liked. The cruise director stated that getting off the ship would be easy at Coco Cay. We went to get off the boat at 10:00, as we had an 11:00 shore excursion. He recommended getting off the boat 30 minutes prior to excursions. It's a good thing my instincts told me otherwise. The line was wrapped around from floor #1 all the way up to floor 4. People were hot and anxious after waiting so long. Our son did ok, thankfully but I was very worried. Aside those two experiences, the trip was great. The shows were amazing, and the main dining room was fantastic.

1st Cruise but not my last by grayelcindy

This cruise was wonderful!!  1st vacation in 3 years, could not have picked a better thing to do.  Sleep Eat and sail into ports that we have never seen.

Nassau was a surprise, I'm a shoppers and found better deals in the states.

Cococay was enchanted and restful.   The boat was clean everyone was gracious and catered to every need.

The best time ever! by majcmajc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The cruise was great! Fun for all age groups! Food was amazing, service was great as well. Plenty to do while on board, didn't have to leave the ship unless you wanted to. The only negative thing was the "guest service" area was always crowded with long lines. I enjoyed the dancing with the stars! Make sure you bring picture money, they took the most amazing pictures, I had to buy them all, quite pricey but worth it! Overall, I had a great time.

our girl time by kpullby

We had an AWESOME time!   I wanted to spend some quality time with my daughter, and that's just what happened.  We had SO much fun!  The weather was great!  The food was delicious!  The only thing that we did not like was the outdoor movie screen.  Maybe 1 movie would have been ok, but Sunday there were 3, and they were all repeats of the other 2 nights.  We did not watch any of them and would have preferred to listen to music.  I also want to say it was GREAT getting away from cell phones, internet and technology.

Enchantment of a deal by kagibson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We greatly enjoyed our trip through Royal Caribbean. My fiancee is a Gold Member and loves this cruise line. I have traveled through Carnival in the past, and felt like it was very comparable if not better. I loved the service we received throughout the cruise. We had great attendants, and the activities and ports were great. We really enjoyed Coco Cay the best just because we love beaches, and it was so beautiful. I wanted to see Nassau and Atlantis, but felt underwhelmed since it rained and it was very touristy. We couldn't do much in Atlantis since we didn't buy a day pass. Our room was very clean, and the dinner was fabulous. We dined at Chops Grille and loved it! We purchased the alcohol drink package and felt like since we don't drink alcohol a lot we would not do it again since we didn't get our money's worth. Overall, we enjoyed our cruise and want to go back again.

First Time Cruise - Gr8 Experience! by easicomputers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise and found Royal Caribbean service is hands down FOUR STAR. The staff are EXTREMELY GOOD at their jobs showing respect, kindness and a willingness to serve at every turn. Notably, from the moment we arrived, our stateroom attendant was ever-present and available to even our smallest requests and managed to slip in and out of our cabin so often, our room was always tidy and clean.

DINING: On the 3rd evening, we dined at MY FAIR LADY and it was a white glove experience. Our waiter Eduardo even made the choice of appetizer, entree and wine an easy one to make. The downside was while the menu had vegetarian options, they were very limited.

I must admit that dining in the Windjammer Buffet was overall a more convenient experience and the selection of food items were more diverse. The hours that are kept are extremely flexible and allowed us to eat almost at our leisure between all our activities and naps. The wait staff there were incredibly attentive as they carefully navigate amongst the throngs of passengers like a well-choreographed dance.

Latte-tudes on Deck 6 offers up Starbucks beverages and sweets and is opened extended hours. The coffee at the Windjammer was sub-par, so this was a nice alternative and the beverages here were also included in our unlimited beverage package. The only downside here were the blenders that were broke on almost every visit we made to get a Frappucino (apparently from the over-use and popularity.)

The Park Café on Deck 9 is a GREAT alternative and perfect for a late night pizza snack especially after a late night of drinking. During daylight hours they offer a salad bar which was remarkably simple, but a healthy delicious and convenient alternative.

Notably, the Bartenders have a a difficult job of keeping passengers lubricated and appeased and I am sure there are some  passengers who are more demanding than others. By and large, kudos to all mixologists!

Ports of Call: I must admit that I found Coco-cay far exceeded my expectations, partly due to the weather that was mostly raining in Nassau. I've been to Nassau before and was still glad to shop and visit Atlantis. We did not opt for any excursions but were told that if we go to Atlantis after 5, we could get in for free, only to be turned away after catching a cab over there. We realized that this is a loosely enforced policy and managed to go through the hotel lobby (not the casino), and was able to access the gorgeous grounds and see the aquarium which was well worth the walk.

Coco-Cay was (surprisingly) gorgeous and personifies the tropical island experience. We did not even board the tender till noon where we quickly settled in and got in the water for some overdue swimming and snorkeling. There is really nothing very interesting by way of a reef to see, but there are some artificial ruins that have been placed for the snorkelers.

I was not aware of the amenities available on the Cay and it was unclear as we debarked the tender as to where I could use my C Pass or where I must use cash. I would advise bringing some cash with you just in case.

In fact, by the time we got out of the water at 2:30 there was seemingly no food options available to us that we could find. Again, this was not a big deal knowing we would soon be back on the Enchantment to dine. We also failed to realize we must bring our towel(s) with us and ended up doing without towels on the Cay; no biggie.

The maintenance department probably does not get much recognition but I have to give props for a very rapid response from engineering when our safe refused to open. A maintenance man was at our door within mere moments of calling guest services. Nice work!

Production staff, cast & crew; What can I say? The show(s) are the cherry on the cake. The Orpheum Theater is gorgeous and inviting and there's just not a bad seat in the house. The singers and dancers work very well together and really put on 2 great shows but Stage to Screen to me is definitely the standout production with its full live orchestra, amazing costumes, choreography, lighting and sets. The live jazz sets on the Centrum are a great way to get to know the singers better and again, the musicians are really some of their unsung heroes who make all the magic possible. We also played BINGO in the Orpheum which was worth the chance to win some cash and a free cruise for two, albeit luck was not on our side for this game.

I cannot emphasize enough the quality of the staff and only regret that I did not take note of the names deserved of being mentioned.  I am quite certain that if it weren't for the synchronous teamwork at hand from stem to stern, our trip would not have been the same.

We chose the Enchantment to celebrate my birthday (also notably acknowledged by RC staff with Birthday Cards in the stateroom) as well our 15th anniversary which was an unforgettable experience for both of us. We were unsure whether a 4 night cruise would be enough time, but it was a perfect reprieve and while we were completely satisfied, we were also happy to be headed home after 4 nights aboard ship.

Royal Caribbean delivered a SAFE and FUN journey that allowed us to make and enjoy memories that will last a lifetime. The cruise director did a GREAT JOB as did the entire staff on the Enchantment! We will definitely sail Royally again in the future.
