Relaxing vacation during Spring Break by haassmith

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Despite being Spring Beak for a large number of young adults, we still had a relaxing and peaceful vacation. The springbreakers tended to congregate (fill) the main deck pool and pack the adjacent bar, but the beauty of a large ship is that there are many other places to go that are quiet and more adult. A few springbreakers came to these quiet areas and they were interesting to talk to mature and well mannered. I'm sure there was some rowdy behavior but none that we were aware of. There is truly something for everyone on a cruise.

Relaxing cruise....just avoid the Spring Break crowd by arb1155

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Cruises are usually what you make them.  You can do as much or little as you want.  I did like the ship, but it did not have any type of cool water slides or rock climbing wall.  Wasted space on bocce and a putting green.

It had 5 pools, one which was always overcrowded with 18-22 yr olds on Spring break.  Hey, been there, done that, but there are plenty of places to get away from the crowds too.  The rooms were great, food was great.  Deck staff to get drinks was pretty lacking....I like to be waited on...at least on a cruise.    There was a huge outdoor movie screen showing concerts and movies...under the stars.  It was pretty nice, and easy to see, even during the sunlight hours.

Wonderful Get-a-way by bfaithparker

Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We sailed on the Emerald, our first cruise ever.  We planned it to be short, only one stop, in case we didn't like it, or got bored. etc.  It was a beautiful ship, the service was superb (thank you to Nadiia Ursatii and Paul Cambel).  We sat with nice people for our meals, met a small group at the non-denominational church service that was held on the Sunday am we attended.  That was very special for us as  we didn't expect to find a church service.  Food was outstanding (as we had heard it would be), a very exciting time for us.

Big Smile

very rude customer service by munnymack

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Luciana cristina DoVale, customer service agent with her not so friendly nor apologetic attitude for sending us all over the ship just to up grade from our soda card to the all beverage card, than called me rude. They would not give clear instructions what we needed to do so it would have been one trip, very unhappy with them. I will see if we get the 75.00 returned on our card that cheap cruises said they will give. The food staff and our room  was well taken care of. Just not a very friendly customer service crew.

Mike's Birthday by evolaruba

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean

This cruise was amazing.  If you are into slot machines this was the cruise to take. There was a lot of people and energy in the casino (this was a gambling cruise) My husband and I were given a card for free alcoholic beverages or soft drinks), to our surprise the casino sent us chocolate covered strawberries twice to our room., also 2 bottles of champagne.  The food   was good, and so was the best pizza in  the sea.  During the day we relaxed and seen two great latest movies in the theatre.  On the last day there was a raffle at 11:00PM for a 7 day cruise for two, and guess whose name came up- Dora Cudemo- .  Have already made reservation for the Mexican Riviera cruise.  Life is Good

Great Ship by dhorneck1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Beautifully updated, large ship with plenty of pools, whirlpools and deck chairs. Took a tour of one of the kitchens and it was spotless. First night dining was slow, but was speedy from there on in. Nice lounges and 2 happy hours, with buy one, get one for $1, every day. Very enjoyable!

Fantastic!! by joephil

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Emerald princess is a very comfortable ship to sail. The service is teriffic and the staff very friendly and cooperative.  Our cabin stewart was great, and took exceptional care of us and accomodated all our needs. The entertainment was good, but the ship singers could have been better.  The shows were very entertaining and the guest performers were exceptional. Getting on and off the ship was easy and very organized.  The food were great in both the dinning room and the food court, and exceptional in the speciality restaurant "Chops". All in all I defeniately give the Emerald ship 5 stars Plus.

Happy

so-so trip by a1kraus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Was disappointed in the food. Went to "The Grill" and found the filet mignon to be tough. Either the knife was dull or the steak wasn't really filet mignon. All the filet mignon I have had I could cut with a butter knife. Also, disappointed in the baked Alaska. When I have had it in the past, the top was meringue with only vanilla ice cream and  the meringue was set on fire at the table. The baked Alaska that was served was more of an ice cream cake.

Was sorry we missed Grand Turks. However, I think more compensation should have been give than just the port tax and trip refunds.

I think the movies provided were great.

The staff was superb.

This was the first cruise for my wife. I booked the cruise as a birthday present and I am glad I did. She had a great time and said she will only cruise on vacation going forward.

The ship was very clean, courteous and very helpful staff and very good food.

Thank you

relaxing cruise by Robinm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorite part of cruise is the employees and relaxation.

Food was good , but not a wow factor. Food was pretty much the same daily. not a lot of great choices.

Lots to do. Casino was to smokey, night life was quiet.

This ship catered to older people. More of a Señor citizen cruise, but needed the relaxation

Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Weather was great nice break from Michigan winter! Onboard staff was great. Our room stewart was so efficient along with room service.

Cities were so beautiful strongly recommend an excursion at the beach to truly appreciate the trip.

Boarding & disembark process are the only sore points of the trip.

Your standard Princess cruise by nross218

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship is in fine form for one that sailed in 2007. Cruise staff was super except we never saw the Cruise Director. Did have one incident in the watch boutique. Beware, if you want price matching be sure to take a picture of the item and the serial number and get written confirmation of the price. Wait staff was excellent. Food was standard Princess, but no lobster tail on this short cruise. Had a crew drill at 9:30AM, which resulted in only one buffet . The line went out to the pool. Poor planning! Could not attend Captain's Circle party at 7PM because we had early dinner and there was only one instead of the usual two (early and late).

It All Depends by kdbodie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This makes the 5th cruise I've been on in my lifetime. And I thoroughly enjoy the all inclusive aspect of cruise vacationing & Princess totally rock in that regard. This ship was great and the staff worked really hard to make sure everyone was having a good time and that their personal duties were fulfilled. I will say that this cruise ship and line has a very specific audience and unfortunately I am NOT that. I believe the audience the entertainment food and every other aspect is geared towards those who are of AARP age and conservative. I am neither of those two things so in the future if I were to choose another cruise, which I will it will not be on the princess line. I simply need to have more  variety.

First time on Princess - extremely happy with Princess Cruises by Happiercruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I've cruised on Norwegian, Carnival, Holland America, Celebrity, MSC and Royal Caribbean in the past.  This is my first time with Princess cruises. It was an awesome experience.  I LOVE cruising and all the cruise lines are pretty much the same as Princess except the staff on Princess went over and above to be helpful and courteous.  The food was awesome, the service at my table was superior.  Each night the waitress gave her recommendations and we all ordered what she recommended and were never disappointed.  I bought the drink package that included virgin versions of daiquiris and pina coladas.  They were super good and no one minded bringing me my "free drinks".  The waiter at dinner made sure to have a diet coke for me each time my previous one was empty without me asking.  I read some poor reviews on the Emerald Princess before I left and was a little concerned but I was definitely pleasantly surprised.  I think I received a really good deal on the cruise because of some poor reviews.  I have a feeling that these bad reviews were from people that just don't enjoy the cruising experience or the ship did a complete turnaround because of the bad reviews.  Signed,

VERY HAPPY WITH MY CRUISE EXPERIENCE.

Worse cruise ever almost jumped off ship by Bubbly803

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I was very disappointed about this cruise. The Buffett food was very poor I could have got better at Golden Cora . The service was all excellent but otherwise so poor I would never go on Princess again. I didn't even want to com,sin to desk on ship because if they offered to give me credit for another cruise on their line I would not take it. The Karoke lasted 45 min and then they rushed us off because staff had to get to another venu. There was nothing I mean nothing to do Thursday nite. Everyone was just wandering around trying to find some entertainment. I spent more time in my cabin than I ever did so now you know. It was inexspense cruise but no fun I was ready to get off the ship by Thursday .

Nice weekend getaway! by Neenee12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Emerald Princes was our first experience with the Princess Cruise lines. The main course  food was okay but desserts exceptional.  We ate one nite in the Crown Grill and loved every bite.  The rib eye and steak chop were steakhouse quality and the chocolate decadence dessert was devine!!  The food in the diningroom was fair and underseasoned..Salads were soaked in dressing and the rolls overheated and dried out!! The lunch and breakfast buffets were unexciting.  Pizza was good and a nice option for lunch!

We did not enjoy the entertainment on the ship other than the comedian on the last nite.  The shows ere mundane and short.  The cruise director was not exciting or entertaining.  Our cabin was lovely and quiet!  and our room steward did a great job.  Overall, I prefer a smaller boat with less walking.  The ship seemed choppy for walking purposes.

I think we would not be in  a hurry to rebook a cruise with Princess. We have travelled on better lines!

Nice ship but by rstrykowsky

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Emerald Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship is beautiful, balcony cabin was nice, never-seen room steward kept room fresh. Loved Movies Under the Stars, including blankets at night. Staff was all friendly although we could tell how hard it was for many to be away from their families for so long. Thought food selection was fairly limited and repetitive, hardly any seafood, especially at buffets, although fresh fruit selection was nice. Desserts were average. Had more trouble that usual keeping bearings on ship and saw others having same problems. Need more ways to recognize port and starboard without looking at ocean wake, and paper map doesn't indicate whether amenities such as the delicious pizza/ ice cream, and hamburger restaurants are on port or starboard, Library needs more bestsellers! Ship feels intimate because broken into many smaller sections, bars and lounges.
