Queenie and Lloyd, just sit back relax and have a wonderful time. My husband and I just came back and we loved it.

Which cruise was this ? My husband and I were on the Emerald 02/27 - 03/05 and no such thing happened.

The lack of substantiating comments for these ratings leaves me wondering. Can't count this review in my considering future cruises as a result.

Thanks for the review. I enjoyed my time on the Emerald. I agree with Mr Kennicot's statement.

Yes, he didn't go to the final port because he received a distress call from a catamaran that had been hit by a whale. The shop turned around to rescue 3 Americans and a South African. Honestly if that was you sitting on a dingy paying for someone to save your life you wouldn't be complaining. I was disappointed us but I am satisfied knowing that Princess Cruise lines have be involved in over 30 rescues in the last 10 years. As it was a life or death matter you should understand he didn't just decide.

There had to be an explanation. Sailed on Princess for years, never heard of a Captain just canceling a port willy-nilly. Even if there was a legitimate reason for missing the port I never heard of situation either where the Captain and or other officers didn't bend over backward explaining, apologizing and adjusting the days events calendar to compensate.

I found the Emerald to be a totally relaxing cruise - not many brats (regardless of age, 3-103), a good mix of ages from kids to adults. It didn't have the high energy of Carnival, but rather a more subdued type of sit back, have a drink/snack, and enjoy the show.

I guess for whatever the reason, bad weather or rough seas, etc you wished the captain to take a risk and put his ship, BUT more importantly his passengers and crew in danger. Just curious, were the other passengers happy the captain made the decision. I know I would be. If an excursion was booked for that port you were not charged for it. Princess doesn't charge for excursions until the excursion is actually taken. Do you have the knowledge to take a ship into a port? I have faith in the captain to do the right thing. I do not think he was happy or enjoyed disappointing his passengers. I don't think any other captain enjoys it either, no matter the cruise line.

Just so you know, the Captain does not  just "Decide" to skip a port as the fee's & taxes charged to the cruise line are already paid for the docking there. There had to be a reason for skipping the stop such as weather, rough seas or a medical emergency. Also, check your account statement beginning with the day after the missed stop. I am sure you will find a credit for the port fees & taxes. Princess cruise line is not a Disney or Carnival type of genre when it comes to entertaining kids. Princess is geared more towards the adult passengers.
