Disney is the way to go with teens. by KTCraig

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The Disney Cruise Line does a wonderful job of scheduling events so that you can choose any activity to participate throughout the day and you will have the opportunity to attend all of those activities! (if you are not too tired from all of yesterday's activities...and if you are. there are several places to relax also) The shows are awesome and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food, well, lets put it this way...I gained 17 pounds on my trip which may not be a good game plan for everyone but I absolutely loved the food. Thank you to the chefs and the waiter staff. My children (13 and 15 years old) had more than enough activities to keep them busy all day and sometimes late into the night as they made many new friends from all over the world and are still in contact with many of their new friends today which I think is very cool!!! The only negative thing is the laundry room is small and the dryers take about twice as long as the wash machines. I would suggest to Disney to provide more dryers than wash machines or for you as a traveler to pick odd times to use the laundry service which I did the one late night and had no problems, but the last day early morning is not a good time to do laundry so plan accordingly when it comes to this.

The pager phones that are provided in the room is a great resource to be able to contact other members of your party and they are included with no additional charge in case you are concerned about communication issues with cell phone and internet plans.

Overall, it is a truly great experience (especially if you have eating fine cuisine listed as one of you hobbies) and if you have active teens they will love it!!! If you are considering, I would suggest that you do it because the memories created by you and the Disney Cruise Staff alone are worth the cost of the trip and the food...BONUS!!! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the fact that...

Alaska is a fantastic destination!!!

Awesome by joaniegallagher

This was by far the best cruise we have taken.  The ship was immaculate and everyone was very friendly and helpful.  Castaway Cay is a must see.....turquoise water with beautiful white sand beaches....a paradise!!  We had fun at the crab races and the barbeque was delicious.

more than expected by azcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Having been on a numbe of cruises, this was my first Disney Cruise. While I had heard of positive marks on such cruises, a Disney Cruise is one that must be experienced. First, the ease at checkng in for departure is make simple and smooth (as was disembarment). There is SO much to do on board it was hard to just sit at the pool. There are three pools including an adult only pool. The Ports are easy to explore with getting off and on a simple effort. Then there is the food  EXCELLENT. This starts with being assigned a table by number whereupon the guests at the table and the servers stay together during the entire cruise while rotating from three great restaurants. Plus one can simply eat at the buffet or one of many snack areas. The entertainment is of high quality. I am one that thinks that every child (of all ages) must experience disneyland, now a disney cruise is a must.

Oldest ship --- not up to par with other ships by SharonmByer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have cruised many times with other lines but first with Disney -- I wished I had researched Disney ships more before I booked the cruise

on Disney Wonder -the ship itself was a dissapointment -- then I found out why -- oldest ship due to be renovated soon -- the staff were very

nice though and the food adequate but not up to what I have experienced on other lines ---would not recommend this ship ---

Very Nice Cruise by puckettfamcruze

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise, so we thought we'd do it in style with the most talked about, Disney Cruise.  It was very nice I must say, but I will say that the Wonder is in dire need of some updates.  The Wonder is one of the older ships, and to be honest it shows.  We were on the 2nd floor, mid-ship, which was a very good location for first time cruisers I might add.  One thing I must note is that our cabin had the smell of urine and just sort of a stale smell from the moment I walked in.  There were also lots of things on the walls that needed cleaning, but again, the Wonder is an old ship, and it is my understanding that she will be out for cleaning here in a few weeks. Disney's service came through as our hostess was on top of everything from the moment I mentioned the smell to her.  She did everything from mop, wipe, shampoo carpet, change linens and mattresses, etc.  She even gave us so many nice things for our inconvenience.  The size of our room was excellent.  We had the Deluxe inside stateroom with a large port hole window, and it really was nice to be able to look out and see some sunshine every morning.

My 8-year old daughter loved is so much she cried the day we had to get off!  She didn't really like to Oceeneers Lab on this ship, but did love the Club.  So much we had to drag her out most days.

The access to the characters was just awesome!  I mean you couldn't ask for anything more.  They were always walking around, or taking photos, and the lines were there, but not unbearable at all.  The cast members were so sweet and just awesome people anytime they saw the kids they came up to them, they were just awesome!

The only downside I had was that I didn't feel there was too much for me to do.  I'm in my mid-late 30's and my husband is in his mid-late 40s.  My mom who is in her late 50's tagged along as well.  The movies and shows were great, but it seemed something was missing.  I'm not sure what, but at times I was a little bored on the sea days.  None the less, I loved it and I'm looking forward to celebrating my birthday in 2014 on one of the ships.  Ohh my 20 year old was there as well and felt she always had something to do, as well as my 11 year old cousin who we could never find for dinner!  She loved, loved, loved the activities for her age and she loved her counselors.

All in all, Disney is truly a great family cruise vacation.

Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our family had a fantastic time on the cruise! This is our 2nd time aboard Disney and we absolutely love love it! We already have started planning for our 3rd trip! We are quite sad that they arent leaving out of Galveston anymore, and are hoping they will come back soon! The kids had an awesome time and still talk about how they want to go back. Lots of memories were made!

calm sea by katscruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

very good food, very good service, the room host always seemed to be there when we opened the door...I think she was majical, just like the cruise line.  If you don't care to have children crying when you are dinning, then a Disney Cruise may not be your cup of tea....fortuntanly, it was not the norm....most kids were having such a great time, that it really wasn't too big an issue....The Gulf was exceptionally calm on this cruise....very unusual...it was my boy friends first cruise, and he throughly enjoyed the experience...

I highly reccommend using Cruise.com for all of your cruise travel needs. they were always helpful, knowedgable, and always put my mind at ease.

Smooth cruising by kauaipeg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The DisneyWonder and crew were top notch. We were going out with a hurricane in the Gulf. They by passed it and the weather was so smooth we thought we were on a pond. The food, entertainment, and staff were great. It was our second time on Disney and were very pleased. We look forward to making it to our Gold Status.

Best Cruise Ever, best service! by verochino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I can not express it enough this was the best experience ever with my entire family! Most importantly the one that I continue saying that made the best ever of our cruise was the server Jose, assistant server Ajit and our stateroom hostess. Without the outstanding effort and support from these three people our cruise would not have half as enjoyable. Also of course the other half came from the rest of the crew who walked around the ship to make sure we were not in need of anything and the performers the energy that they had made all come together for all the family. We will defiantly do this again! And one last note for all parents…… at first I was a bit optimistic about leaving kids who are 10 and 11 wonder around the ship on their own but all the crew members made me feel safe letting my kids go to the different clubs and activities they had on board. My kids loved and enjoyed that freedom as well.

Disney cruise - Why? by Stu6025337

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We have been on 4 other Royal Caribbean cruises, this our first Disney cruise. In Disney's defense (maybe) Wonder is the oldest ship in their fleet, although I've also been on RC ships of the same vintage that were far superior. Note that we did not travel with children (a company trip so we didn't choose the trip), but viewed it as an opportunity to examine if we would take grand kids someday. I found it odd that the activities for kids went so late. Saw lots of little screaming kids having meltdowns that needed to be in bed. Compared to the other cruises: little for adults to do only two shops (and this from people who aren't shoppers) coffee sucked! no excuse for this fewer activities for kids that on RC cruises (I was amazed at that). Most centered around getting a picture taken with a Disney character (for which the lines were incredible) of some music/parties with the Disney characters making an appearance (which were boring - same thing, just different characters) in room TV was almost exclusively Disney content, could rarely even get some news. Food was only OK and quality of bar drinks was poor Pools and hot tubs were small in size (yeah, I know, "it's a small, small world" - sorry, couldn't resist) While having a balcony was nice, the deck to railing plexiglass was so dirty/weathered that while seated, one couldn't see through it Too much marketing to buy Disney merchandise and on-board services On Castaway Cay, on -beach service was incredibly poor. Our order saw forgotten one time and even when the server remembered, it took a long time to get our order (and that on the adult beach where I would have expected better) There's more, but I'll just end with... I'd never cruise with Disney again, even with kids.

Wonder-ful? by Diswiz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This ship was nice however my very first Disney cruise experience was on a newer ship. This ship was smaller and the dining experience was not nearly as nice as the newer ships. The room 's bathroom needed some upkeep . The shows however were great and the oceaneer club was nice for my 5 yr old. There were plenty of characters meets and I was able to even watch two new movies in 3 D. The overall cruise was nice but I had a lot of expectations from seeing a newer ship prior to this.

Exceeded our expectations by pearlali

The staff and the ship were awesome from start to finish. The food was good, but not exceptional by any means. The kids had enough activities to keep them busy that my husband and I had plenty of adult time as well.

Everything was great. But the rooms have no irons so it was very inconvenient to have to walk down the hall to the laundry room to iron. And only only two irons per floor. :/

Awsome by lisepmilton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This trip was amazing. The boat was extremely clean and the staff was very helpful. The majority of the staff had been with disney an average of five years. That says a lot about the company. There was so much to do. The kids club had many activities for the children and my kids did not want to leave. The port of calls were exciting and we had a wonderful experience. Many activities for everyone and the food was amazing. I highly recommend for all ages.

Amazing Disney by mommeyers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Disney Wonder / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The ship is amazing. The shows were superb. . Broadway all the way! The people are friendly and so entertaining. the care and cleanliness is top notch. Everything runs smoothly. My only reason for not giving 5 star was the pools. They have an adult pool. a kiddie pool with slide. but the in between pool for my 10 yr old. is small and very very crowded. You couldn't actually swim, you had to stand there or be bumped into. open the adult pool to an hr of the day for 'tweens maybe. too small for the amount of kids.

Older ship, but well maintained and continuously cleaned. Could not have been more fortunate as a guest on this ship and to this crew for a first time cruise.
