This is my second Princess cruise, I would have to have a serious think about booking another. Unfortunately it was the destination rather than the cruise line that made me book this cruise.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We weren’t due to board until 2pm, but we arrived at Cirqular Quay early and we were able to board at 11:30am.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We did not eat at any of the specialty restaurants. The meals at the dining rooms were on average very good, the buffet (Horizon Court) was very poor.
My partner paid to attend the first wine tasting session, only to be served a wine which had gone off, and no replacement was offered.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
We did not use any of the activities (pool, gym, day spa).
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The singers and dancers performed approximately 4 times out of the 22 night cruise. Magicians, comedians and gymnasts were flown in for evening performances.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
As always, the service was exceptional from all of the staff.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Although the ship is old, it is very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
You could tell the ship was built in Japan, the bathrooms, especially the shower, is tiny. As the ship arrived in Japan, all of the toilets on board were upgraded for the Asian market with bidet toilets, this would have been a nice option.
Ship tip
Pack a book or a deck of cards as the daily activities are not great.
Please make sure you go to the bathroom before getting off the ship, unless you are happy to pay 30 Malaysian cents (plus extra if you don’t have any tissues) to use a filthy squat toilet in a shopping mall.
We used the ships tour to get into Ho Chi Minh as the port is over an hour from the city. We were harassed by the locals at the market, but had a lovely lunch at the Rex Hotel.
Tokyo is a half hour away from Yokohama. We had to take three trains to get to our hotel, this is difficult with luggage. Thankfully it wasn’t peak hour we were travelling in, but still lots of other commuters.
