Baltic Criuse on Costa Atlantica by AndreaS3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

We chose the cruise for the date and ports of call. We had a good experience. Overall the service and food were good. There were many bars and lounges, but not many restaurant options. The dinners were excellent in terms of choices, quality and service.

trip of our life by SheilaP2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

My husband and I recently went on the Atlantica for their eastern seaboard cruise. We have travelled extensively for years [all-inclusives] independant, and cruises] and we both agreed that this was one of our best trips ever. We loved the ports of call and got to see places that we had only dreamed of seeing. The staff for the most part were very friendly and professional. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the ship, especially in this time of flu season. It made us feel relaxed about coming down with some bug or other. The cabins were quite roomy even our inside cabin. We liked the fact that they had happy hour every day, but felt that 11:00 AM was way too early for the first one! When you are heading off for land tours, you really don't need to have a drink first!!! There were some negative things too. For instance, all the Canadian and Americans heartily disliked being charged in Euros in their own countries! I doubt if they are charged Canadian or American in Europe!! It almost felt like an insult. The front desk people were not the best for sure at handling problems. In fact, we had a problem and they just upset us further. Not a good impression on our first cruise with Costa. In fact, we wrote about not receiving our ship board credit, and they haven't bothered to answer us. Not too impressed there! They catered too much to the European clientele with the entertainment. eg. the music for dancing, and the lounge music. The North Americans definitely felt like outsiders at times. [We talked to many people about this] Would we go with Costa again. Yes, because we felt that it was good value for our money and it had enough positive things about it. if you are young, I would hesitate to go on the trip we took because it was geared towards a much older crowd. Sometimes we felt too young and we are 61 and 64!!!!

A Costa Cruise by MarleneB3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The ship was well kept and clean mostly but the crew was not helpful and had an attitude..Service was poor until I complained and the air was kept so high that it felt like a sauna most of the time in and out of the cabin. Service in the dining room wasn't the best, until I complained and had the entire table moved. After the complaint, the servers were great and the crewmember that did the exercise class was terrific..Other than that. pick another ship

Couldn't have been better: 14 day cruise by BillH15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Our first cruise with Costa (we've cruised before with Princess) was great. Excellent food, excellent service, a beautiful ship. Our cruise started in Venice with stops in Italy, Spain, Portugal, England, Germany and Denmark. A great selection of ports. Would highly recommend this cruise, only wish it was offered more than once each year.

Great cruise all around by MaryA52

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean

Very clean ship, nicely decorated Italian theme. We were there over Christmas and they had a Christmas buffet with an ice sculpture with octopus legs hanging from it; unique stuff like that. Excellent food and service in the dining room. They also had a couple theme nights (toga party) that involved the people. Entertainment was great in the theatre - opera singer and jazz singer plus numerous grand shows. Gym was fabulous with good equipment, steam and sauna room, jacuzzi in the gym area.

A first time family cruise!!!!!!!! by JoelS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our first cruise and we were just over excited to be cruising, but when we got on the ship it was much more than we could have imagined. The ship was very clean and were greeted by the most excited crew ever. The overall ship was decorated with the most beautiful decor. We were really amazed at how so much can go on at one time on this ship. Beautiful ship!!!!!!

Not worth it! by KimberlyL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful and kept very clean. The staff was typically rude and unable to communicate unless you spoke 5 languages other than english. They could speak: German, Italian, Spanish, French and maybe Dutch. The food staff was disappointing. The desserts left you sad. The ice cream machine (when it was on) would often produce very running ice cream or nothing at all. The variety of all, to include auidence participation, was just not inviting.

The most fun we ever had on a cruise! by RuthR3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We enjoyed the cosmopolitan atmosphere, with mostly Europeans and enough Americans. This was a Caribbean cruise, so suprised to see so many European, but loved the ambience. We're seasoned cruisers and realize we're not at home and can't expect it to be like the local country club. The food was fine and the waiters efficient. Enjoyed the piano bar often, The occasional roving musicians and dancers were a lot of fun but the whipped cream on the cake was the Toga Night, the last night. We got into the spirit and enjoyed the laughs and contests. You could tell that there were a lot of people who had done this before on this ship because of the golden crowns, bracelets and other accessories they added to the basic sheets provided by the ship. Such a ball! (Actually, our cruise was in 2005 - hope it hasn't changed!)

Not as good as other cruise lines by MariaA4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship is very nice even though it's an old ship. The entertainment is fun and it's very Italian-style cruising. However, we had a lot of service issues which were unresolved and the food was mediocre. The kids complained about the children's program "it was boring, Carnival is much better" and were not allowed at all in the jacuzzies. Activities are very limited but fun.

Buyer beware by 217

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)

The ship was clean however there were too many conflicting themes regarding the decor. I have visited Rome a few times and the gawdy theme throughout the ship was tacky. The ship doeshave great potential.

Costa Atlantica by Steve3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Atlantica / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was a very clean ship - people constantly were washing the deck / windows / etc. The restaurant, however, was very disorganized. Service there was substandard, although the food was acceptable. Breakfast and lunch had particularly poor restaurant service - slow, large numbers of mistakes, difficulty getting coffee or utensils. Dinner service was slow and confused -- courses were rarely served to the whole table at the same time. The buffet was pretty good with fewer service issues, although we saw several other guests treated rudely by some of the staff. The cabin service was excellent. The room was kept very clean, and the staff was very professional.
