Review summary

We enjoyed the cosmopolitan atmosphere, with mostly Europeans and enough Americans. This was a Caribbean cruise, so suprised to see so many European, but loved the ambience. We're seasoned cruisers and realize we're not at home and can't expect it to be like the local country club. The food was fine and the waiters efficient. Enjoyed the piano bar often, The occasional roving musicians and dancers were a lot of fun but the whipped cream on the cake was the Toga Night, the last night. We got into the spirit and enjoyed the laughs and contests. You could tell that there were a lot of people who had done this before on this ship because of the golden crowns, bracelets and other accessories they added to the basic sheets provided by the ship. Such a ball! (Actually, our cruise was in 2005 - hope it hasn't changed!)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Good and well served. The Lido deck and fantail buffets are always pretty chaotic on cruise ships, due mostly to the passengers, and who can tame them? The food was ample and good. Be prepared that Italian pizza is a much plainer form than American, which piles everything on.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There were lots of small areas where games were held, with music and cute prizes. They managed to run games which all could understand and participate in without feeling foolish. Piano bar was great! We danced a lot and the band was fun and played all kinds of dance music.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Very friendly and willing. We seemed to get around the language barrier somehow and got our needs served..

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was plenty large enough for us. Actually, we like smaller ships but they've gone the way of the dodo. The atmosphere was very gay (in the original meaning of the word) and the staff went out of their way to assure a happy time. The Pompeii-inspired "frescoes" in the atrium were a nice touch.. Many tucked-away areas where you couldread or just have a quiet time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Out outside cabin on the boat deck was very spacious and the beds were comfortable, as were the pillows, and more were available in the closet. Our steward was efficient but mostly invisible, though everything was done well.

Pros: Smiling, helpful staff; A lot of fun organized events and plenty to do.

Cons: Shore excursion in St. Lucia
