Review summary
My husband and I recently went on the Atlantica for their eastern seaboard cruise. We have travelled extensively for years [all-inclusives] independant, and cruises] and we both agreed that this was one of our best trips ever. We loved the ports of call and got to see places that we had only dreamed of seeing. The staff for the most part were very friendly and professional. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the ship, especially in this time of flu season. It made us feel relaxed about coming down with some bug or other. The cabins were quite roomy even our inside cabin. We liked the fact that they had happy hour every day, but felt that 11:00 AM was way too early for the first one! When you are heading off for land tours, you really don't need to have a drink first!!! There were some negative things too. For instance, all the Canadian and Americans heartily disliked being charged in Euros in their own countries! I doubt if they are charged Canadian or American in Europe!! It almost felt like an insult. The front desk people were not the best for sure at handling problems. In fact, we had a problem and they just upset us further. Not a good impression on our first cruise with Costa. In fact, we wrote about not receiving our ship board credit, and they haven't bothered to answer us. Not too impressed there! They catered too much to the European clientele with the entertainment. eg. the music for dancing, and the lounge music. The North Americans definitely felt like outsiders at times. [We talked to many people about this] Would we go with Costa again. Yes, because we felt that it was good value for our money and it had enough positive things about it. if you are young, I would hesitate to go on the trip we took because it was geared towards a much older crowd. Sometimes we felt too young and we are 61 and 64!!!!Ship experiences
