Good Experience, but not excellent by mamcccpr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Having traveled on another Celebrity ship, I was disappointed in the lack of SeaLife activities. Previously we had scrap-booking classes where they gave youthe kits for free to make pages for your scrap book,  loads of Bingo game opportunities and the watercolor class got a full set of paints, brushes and canvases to keep and use throughout the cruise.  I took the watercolor class on board Millennium and was loaned a small box of watercolor paints (which I offered to buy) and brushes, a dirty plate to use as a pallet and three brushes, all of which had to be returned at the end of the one hour class. There was no opportunity to take the materials back to the cabin and perhaps finish over down town.   There was a crepe making class, but no fruit carving class, no end of cruise grand buffet.  We have booked on celebrity again, hopefully this cruise will be more like the previous one on Infinity.

Food was okay but not standout, even in Qsine, where you pay for presentation more so than the food.

Would Highly Recommend! by LOLO

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Everything from the organized boarding/departure was very good.  The staff was the friendliest of any ship I have traveled with before.  I have traveled on 4 other cruise lines, this being my first with Celebrity and I would highly recommend it.  Our veranda room was very nice and was kept very clean, but our bathroom had a very mildewy smell. We very seldom saw our stewards, but if we needed anything, they were quick to accomodate us.   The food was excellent, although we found the service to be slower than on other cruiselines. Also, condiments such as mint jelly, were offered after I had taken a few bites of my lamb.    We were originally on the 8:30 seating for dinner for 2 nights, which we found to be too late for us, so we asked if there was any way that we could be changed to the Select Seating.  I was very impressed with how nicely it was handled and we found that the Select Seating worked much better for us.  We made friends on board that we dined with for 5 nights and we never had to wait for a table-pleasantly surprised.  Before we left on our cruise, I spoke with someone at Celebrity who asked me if we were celebrating anything.  I told him that it was our 25th anniversary and he said they would do something special for us at dinner and asked what night I would like it.  I told him the 1st formal night(Saturday) at the 8:30 seating, but no one said or did anything.  We did get a shoe made out of a napkin, but I'm not sure if that was the special acknowledgement-dissappointing....

We felt that the entertainment was very good with some fantastic dancers, musicians, etc. There seemed to be a good mix for all ages.

The pool area was great!  We were so lucky to have great weather overall.

Although the buffet was good, it was very hard to find a table, especially at breakfast, so most of the time we went to breakfast in the dining room.

I know it seems like I am complaining, but we did have a wonderful experience with your cruiseline and we would do it all over again in a minute!!

Thank you

Lois and Scott Buek

Beautiful scenerie by dawn695

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was a beautiful cruise for scenerie . The ship was a nice size. Not too big or too small. Do not expect what you get on a Caribbean cruise. This is more scaled down on food and service. We had any time dinning and asked for the same waiter and crew the entire trip. Sheldon, Daniel and Nilo wer great! We liked all our stops except for Icy Straight. There was nothing much to do there. We bought transfers to town . When we went to use them the shuttle filled up. The other driver said only one shuttle running and it would be 30 minutes to next shuttle. So we turned our tickets in for money back.  The food on the ship was just okay. I recommend going to Qsine! Pay the extra money to have a meal there. It was our best meal on the ship. I had a massage at the spa. Would not recommend that either. Way too expensive for what I got. My masseuses was late . She did not listen to my request .I asked for an aroma thearoroy and got something else. The masseuse had no music on in room. I felt worse after the massage than before( sore) ! I wanted an aroma thearorpy . Got from fluff to pain. Very repeatitive movements that did not make scence.( I get a lot of massages)

I would recomened this cruise and the tour before the cruise(that was great!). This was our first time on celebrity .  I have been on carnival, holland America, Norwegian , royal Caribbean  and Princess. I still rank Royal Caribbean the best. I would say Celebrity was in the running for 4th place.

Good way to taste Northern life by forbes

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

A good way to see several of Alaska's points of interest. Some stops had several ships in port so could not get an appropriate feeling for the town/village.  We enjoyed our excursions in Ketchikan and Juneau,  learning about the lives of the native people and we appreciated the natural environment. We disembarked at Skagway as we were more interested in visiting Whitehorse than Anchorage and were told we would have time to catch the 7:30am White Pass train but were not told that we first needed to clear US customs as the ship is registered in Malta. So we caught the 12:30 train instead. The ship staff were friendly and pleasant. The food was very good and well presented with lots of variety to suit all tastes. It was also an opportunity to try foods not usually part of our menu at home. We were satisfied with our table mates that were chosen for us, and had great conversations with them. The ship was clean and attentive to cleanliness. Guest services personnel were knowledgeable and helpful. Although staff were from all countries, all spoke good English.

A Great Cruise by weirish5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I had a great time with my husband on our cruise.  The food was excellent and the view was even better.  We loved Cafe al Bacio and spent lots of time sipping coffee, listening to music, and looking out at the great view.  The comedian Fred Klett was the highlight of the evening shows.  He is hilarious and completely family friendly.  We purchased the Premium Non Alcoholic Drink Package and loved it.  We would definitely do it again.  The only other ship we have been on was Carnival Sensation.  Honestly we liked both ships about the same, preferring a couple features on each ship.  I had a brand new jacket stolen from my room on this trip and that was a bummer, but otherwise a great vacation.

Just got back from cruise on ducruise lines Milennium. Absolutely exceeded our expectations. The service was like staying in a five star hotel.Every thing we asked for was done., The inside passage of alaska has breathtaking views. We were able to visit all of the ports during the day and know when we got back on board everything would be done for us. Loved it. and can't wait to go back

relaxed family trip by jiejiejin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Excellent service and staff.  Kids program is beyond my expectation.  My 9 year old son kept going back to the club every day. Buffet has a lot of options, better than I expected; the main dining restaurant food is OK but not as good as I expected for Celebrity.  There are people replacing copper pipes with PVC ones in our hallway almost everyday, which is a little noisy and annoying.  They did not smoke in the hallway but left strong smoke smell.  I wish they do these maintenance jobs when the ship is not cruising.  We booked a shuttle bus trip to white pass summit at Skagway, which was supposed to take us to the suspension bridge, the bus driver/guide just cancelled it after we boarded.  We complained to excursion dept. afterwards and they refund us $21 dollars each.  But it is not just the matter of money.  We missed the opportunity to see what we wanted.

cruise member didn't take good care of fell down customer from staircase by unaswu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I had bad experience with this trip. Weather for the first 3 days were wet and I had an incident I fell down on the stair case on the 5th day because of the water on the floor. There's one cruise member came to checked on me and asked me do I need to see doctor? I replied I think I am OK. After that no one back to check with me. Couple minutes later, I realized my hand had serious bruise and notice my hip and my knee hurt badly. My friend who went with me asked for the ice and we waited at least 8 - 10 minutes. People who seated next to us room 2075 customer commented "they are busy selling drinks and didn't bother to get ice for me at all".

Celebrity Millennium Alaska Northern Glacier by daisyduff

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We had a great cruise to Alaska on the Celebrity Millennium.  We loved the itinerary on the ship and were specifically looking for a one way cruise.  We spent two days in Vancouver prior to getting on the ship and four days in Anchorage at the end.

We like, but don't love, Celebrity.  We're cruised several lines and prefer to use Carnival, but they did not offer one day cruises to Alaska.  The ship was lovely, but there wasn't much for our teenage sons to do, and we found the service to be lacking a bit.

We treated my mother (for her 80th birthday) to dinner at The Olympic.  The meal was exceptional and the restaurant is beautiful.  It was well worth the extra $50 per person since it was a special event.

We don't love the food in buffet area.  There isn't the selection that exists on the other cruise lines.  The main dining room was fine and the food good.

very enjoyable cruise by JohnMarvelVa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We traveled with another couple and had adjoining Veranda Rooms.  The rooms were clean and as represented.  Would like to have had the ability to open the separator on the veranda so we could enjoy the company of our travel companions.  Assumed this was possible since it was on another cruises

The food was good considering the amount of people that were fed.  Not always as hot as it could be.  Dinning room food was always good but at some times the service was slow.  The hours of operation was allowed food and drink whenever desired.

We only went to one of the shows and it was excellent and enjoyed be all in our party

We have cruised on three prior occasions and this was the best or tied with the best.  Prior cruises were to different locations and had different levels of accommodations and were on different cruise lines.

We would definitely consider Celebrity when making future cruises

We added a land tour which included Anchorage, Denali and Fairbanks.  If we were to do it over again we would only go to Denali on the land tour

Excellent cruise and accomodations, good food, undrinkable coffee! by blackwell4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I very much enjoyed the cruise--my balcony afforded me stunning views of the Canadian and Alaskan coast.  The excursions were wonderful if overpriced.  The room was very comfortable and nicely funished.  My only complaint here is that you never knew what would be on tv--one day Downton Abbey is on at 8 PM, one day it's on at 10 AM.  Publish a tv guide!!!--How hard can this be?  The food was very good, much better than on my Celebrity cruise in the Caribbean two years ago.  I LOVED the Eggs Benedict every morning and the shrimp cocktail and cheesecake every night.  The soups were pretty awful and the entrees largely ok.  But far and away the worst part of the cruise was the coffee--it was absolute swill, totally undrinkable!!!!  Just as it was on my Caribbean Celebrity cruise.  Making decent coffee is not hard--It boggles my mind that you can't just walk up the street in Seattle and buy some Starbucks coffee.   Having to get my caffeine from Diet Coke while I'm eating Eggs Benedict because the coffee is so disgusting is just not right!

Always a pleasure sailing by Gzhao

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Incredible service from the staff (they always greeted you with a smile) and everything was high class and more luxurious than your average cruise ship. A wide selection of food options and dining areas to choose from. Optional services cost additional money but you can still have a fantastic time without spending extra money. Second time sailing with celebrity and it's been even better than I've remembered it to be. After excursions they had hot drinks waiting once you entered the cruise ship. They always had what you wanted right before you knew what you wanted like those hot drinks. The pools and fitness areas were clean and spacious. Exploring Alaska by cruise made for one unforgettable experience and it could not have been done without the excellent and friendly crew on board.

Good experience for the first time by ervinzhao

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise was good experience for the first time to visit Alaska.

Waiter and assistant waiter were excellent.

Food from Ocean View Cafe were good and had various choices. However, I wished the plates were dried without water. Some people from my party were looking from some Korean spicy food.

Great Vacation by gbottoms

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was one of the best cruises we have taken.  The service was excellent.  The shows were great and the food was fantastic.  We have sailed several cruise lines and we found this one to be the friendliest we have found.  The stops and excursions were really well-planned.  We will definitely sail Celebrity again.

Could have been better! by BajaBob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Service was very good, food average (the pizza was horrible). On shore days, when you got back on ship around 2 to 3 PM the buffet had very little open, but the pizza was open, we settled for a hamburger by the pool. One of my main problems with cruises is the companies treat you like criminals searching for alcahol. The naturalist on board was very good. My agent could not answer my only ?, when was our land tour scheduled to arive in Talkeetna so we could book a flightseeing tour, I made several calls and got it done no thanks to RJ. Land porfion was great.  I won't be recommending Celeberty or PL to anyone.  The $200 hotel credit was a joke, 90 days to use it and then you give it a month before the trip so I had 6 weeks after to use it and only on youf express deals, so we got Howard Johnson at Lake Tahoe, we would never pick them to stay.

Alaska Cruise 6/27/14 by kmljr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Most was very good.  The dining was excellent, service and food.  The stateroom was fine.

We had one bad experience in the Rendevous Lounge.  I ordered drinks during the cocktail hour special and was charged full price for a second drink (still during cocktail hour). The servers were argumentative and rude when confronted with the error in charges and would not adjust the bill.  Guest services later resolved the issue.

Good experience with the cruise by djiang

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This is my first time cruising with Celebrity.  In general, I had good time with the experience.  However, if I have to be critical, comparing to other cruiselines we have taken before (not Alaska though), I believe Celebrity still has many rooms to improve.

On-board activities:  The on-board activities are limited comparing to others, even on crusing days.  We were a little bored with 2 kids from time to time.  Of course there are many fee-based activities like casino and drinking but public, free activities are liminited.

Food:  There are many promotions for fine dining.  The included meals are not bad but again comparing to other cruiselines, the foods are not on top either.
