2nd Part of Back-to-Back 2014 by StanB3

Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excellent food and dining service.  Aqua Spa cabin attendents were excellent. Entertainment was very good at times and not so good at times.

Crew was friendly.  The ship was generally very clean. "Behind the Podium" speakers presentations were very timely and well presented.

Not up to par for Celebrity by Candoer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am not a fan of ships this large.  With that said, the Equinox is a majestic ship with lots of space for its 3000 passengers.

However, in many respects the food and service was not what I expected based upon prior vacations with Celebrity.

First, there is constant up-selling.  Internet time, specialty restaurants, art auctions, bingo, pictures,  land tours, spa tratments, drink packages, the list is endless.  Unlike prior sailings, we could not access the computers to do anything but go on the web for  75 cents a minute.  (I could not even view my digital pictures.)  Every time I tried to get room service to order anything in my cabin, I was put on hold for several minutes.  The food was bland, and in general service was poor.

Quality ship, service, staff, food, itinerary: Awesome!! by AtlantaCouple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were on the Equinox out of Ft Lauderdale on Dec 9, 2013. We are in our 50s and this was our third cruise, the other 2 being awesome on Princess. I must say the Celebrity experience was a step up in many ways: ambiance, room size, fine dining experience, etc. The average age of cruisemates was more mature on Celebrity and the activities, understandibly, caterered more to this audience. We will use Celebrity again!

Second Transatlantic by hjl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Transatlantic

This cruise was picked for its ports before going across the Atlantic. The ports were great and would recommend anyone to send time in southern Spain and Portugual. The captain club elite social was great as always and we met some great people. My only disappointment was on the ships internet cafe not the service but the rudeness of the passenages. Twice I witness shouting and yelling between passenagers that I would recommmend security to be stationed there. Never before have I seen such unruley behavior with regard to using a computer. Other than that area the ship and guess were cordial and polite even in the pool areas.

Amazing!!!! by JuliaFreeman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The cruise on the Celebrity Equinox was just amazing.

The food was some of the best I have ever had anywhere but definitely on a cruise ship it would be at the top of the list for sure.

The service from all the staff was superb and always very attentive to whatever request we had.

The only  negative  would be the initial entertainment was poor. There was a comedian/juggler and he was sad.

Their dance troupe was very good. Their singer was also very good.

Overall it was an absolutely great trip and I look forward to planning our next one.

Thank you

12 day Med. Cruise by Minncruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall the cruise was great. Good staff-rooms clean. Felt that charges to go from ship to Venice should have been included.  Soda pop & bottled water should have been included. The shows were excellent. Embarking & disembarking went very smoothly. The food was exceptional. The bed was very comfotable & wish we had it @ home!!! Enjoyed the walking path in deck 14.

Thank you for the great experience,

Great cruise on the Equinox by swmichcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

It was our second time on the Equinox and I don't think it could have been any better. We are Elite with Celebrity and were treated extremely well and we ended up taking a suite guarantee that was a steal for a little over $600. The suite benefits were excellent. The Captains Club host Roosy was a shining star of the trip. We were asked to sit at the Captains table one night and we eventually accepted. We didn't have dinner with the Captain but had dinner with the Chief Engineer. We almost didn't accept because I didn't bring a suit or jacket on this cruise. I told Roosy of my dilema and she arranged for me to borrow a complementary tux jacket for the dinner. As i said before she was great. As for the cruise itself it was also great. A 12 night cruise with an overnight in Venice. I highly recommend the itinerary many great ports. We did ship tours as we had a $1000 of onboard credit to use up and we were not disappointed with any of them and the tour guides were all very nice people and very knowledgeable and happy to tell about thier countries. We have done almost 50 cruises now and this is one of the best. We were very happy.

Med Cruise by BobH43285231

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Nice cruise; great ports of call. One exception was Venice. Spending only the afternoon, evening and the next morning there really made experienceing the sights difficult. Too many shuttle trips!  I would have rather spent one whole day there. Paying $50 a couple for a shuttle ride into the city was not only unexpected, but irritating as well. With over 18 cruises under our belts, mostly with Celebrity, RCC, and Azamara we have come to expect better with this line.

HECTIC TOUR OF THE MEITERRANEAN by ARNIESCHINDLER

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

FIRST TIME CRUISING THE  AREA.  .OUR EXPERIENCE  OF LAND TOUR RATHER  THAN CRUISE IS MORE MEMORABLE AS FAR AS SEEING THE PLACES WE WANTED TO SEE.   MOST OF THE TOURS WERE MORE TIME ON THE BUS THAN ACTUALLY SEEING THE  AREA CHOSEN.   THE LAND TOURS INCLUDED  ENTRANCE FEES TO HIGHLIGHTED AREAS  OF STOPS AND NO  PETTY CHARGES EXAMPLE WATER   WHICH SHOULD BE GIVEN ECH DAY IN THE STATEROOM NOT CHARGED AS YOU ARE LEAVING SHIP FOR TOUR.  THE FOOD ASIDE  FROM THE SPECIALTY RESTUARANTS WAS ACCEPTABLE BUT NOT  GREAT.   THE SHOWS WERE FINE AND AFTERR A BUSY DAY WERE TIMED WELL..   ALL IN  ALL WE HAD A NICE TIME. WE ARE NOT TO DIFFICULT TO PLEASE BUT THE NICKEL AND DIMING ANNOYED US.

12 days bliss by MegaBit86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

My wife and I we not really sure what to expect. The first morning as we headed into France I watched the sun rise over the Mediterranean and knew this was going to be something special. We enjoyed it so much that on the last day of our trip as we headed back to Barcelona we booked another cruise. My only issue was we had a difficult time making either the 6:15 dinned or the 8:45 dinner. Our solution was to use the buffet about 7 of the 12 nights. However, we really enjoyed the buffet and being able to sit outside on the aft deck enjoying dinner and watching the sun set was a wonderful consolation. Thank you to all the wonderful and helpful members of the ship's staff.

Excellent itinerary, excellent service, food should be also excellent by Jackieoxman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We enjoyed every moment of the cruise with the exception of embarking in Barcelona and disembarking in both ports where tenders were required. Too long lines or waiting time even for quite active seniors and lack of particular priority measures for older people such as a priority line. We are select members but still more organization was required. All the ship staff is attentive and useful: at guest relations, at restaurants, very particularly our room assistant, waiters at Blue and Maitre D' and his assistant. At Blue, attention to special meals requirements was excellent, however the quality of meals was not as good as our experience in the renovated Infinity in which we have had the pleasure to navigate twice. As compared to our previous experience we did not have the joy to dance, once again, the Infinity's dancing lounge,( not the Sky lounge) is so much cozy and motivating to sit around and look at the dancing couples or dare to dance. In spite of all this we are preparing our next cruise in Celebrity expecting that mentioned inconveniences would be looked at.

Exceptional Cruise with extraordinary attention to detail by hil3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was or first cruise and we are generally averse to large crowds so we had great apprehension. We were truly surprised at the attention given to small things. Very polite attendants for our staterooms who constantly kept us iniformed and with towels.. Pool butlers were always cleaning. Great concern and attention to keeping public bathrooms spotless. Not once did we ever enter to find a speck of dirt or paper. This is a remarkable feat considering the heavy use in certain areas of the ship. We moved around the upper dining room using the dine at your own time choice and the staff everywhere was experienced as they seemed to anticipate our every need. We found little quiet areas to hide out even on the observation deck and sky lounge on the ship.. The specialty coffee bar became our favorite once again because of the staff, In particular we loved Ivana. We hope we get to see her again. This group could handle at least 50 people at a time with polish and professionalism and make us all feel so special. In the mornings we always hit the organic cafe by the pool for special smoothies. We paid for the premium non-alcoholic package for there of us and it was worth every penny. This was a graduation trip for our grandson and he was never bored. Many times he said it was OK to just stay on the ship. Also noteworthy, none of us got seasick as the ship was so smooth in its sailing. We had a veranda cabin and sat on it many times in the evening. We particularly enjoyed the evening entertainment in the grand foyer while sipping our specialty teas. This was the height of luxury. If you don't ever leave the ship to go into the many ports, you will have the best vacation ever and be throrougly spoiled by the staff on the Celebrity Equinox. We hope we can come close to this experience on our next cruise which we hope to take with our next graduate in May or June next year.

Celebrity Equinox - Europe, Mediterranian, Venice, Croatia, Montenegro by ovaisq

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We chose this cruise specifically to visit Barcelona an Dubrovnik. Kotor (Montenegro) was a bonus. All other ports on this cruise, we had visited many times. We were not disappointed. Overnight in Venice was also a bonus, although it was super crowded to be fully appreciated. Best time to visit was early morning before the crowds set in. The cruise itself: cuisine was excellent; staff pleasant and amiable; shops on board could offer better selections. Overall very comfortable and pleasant vacation.

Review of the cruise with Celebrity by Cruisier

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Great itinerary and service; however, lack of security as for belongings. My camera was stolen under the watchful eye of the Photo Gallery attendant who saw the camera untended, but did not put it aside, and as a result it was stolen.

terrible experience by chung

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

I did not enjoy at all. I do not drink, you guys charge even water and coke or juice(smoothies) Your swimming pool is so small, that is the one I do to get exercise everyday. I could not enjoy the facilities that you have...size of swimming pool was so disappointed.... I loved maid services everyday... but I do not know you need to clean twice a day. One time a day will be enough for me. Your food was so boring....not high quality...

Wonderful Experience by TravelerRon

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was a 12-day Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to ports in France, Italy, Croatia, and Montenegro. A wonderful itinerary (though port intensive). We took a few days pre and post trip to stay in Barcelona and enjoy this thoroughly remarkable city. The Celebrity Equinox is a very comfortable and entertaining ship. Due to the numerous ports of call and our late-dinner seating, we did not get to take advantage of everything the ship had to offer (mostly the entertainment in the theater). However, the entertainment in the lounges, at poolside, and in the main foyer was outstanding. Our balacony cabin was located forward on deck 8 and was quite comfortable. We did enjoy returning from an excursion and relaxing out on the balacony before dinner. Storage was quite adequate. The staff throughout the ship were very friendly and helpful. We did buy the Specialty restaurant 3-package. While we thoroughly enjoyed Muranos and the Tuscan Grill, the Asian Silk Harvest restaurant was a little disappointing. Also, I did not like the fact that when you purchase the 3-dinner package, Celebrity requires you to go to all 3 restaurants. Nevertheless, the overall cruise experience was totally enjoyable. Dubrovnik and Kotor were extra surprise treats that are very unique and interesting. We did all of our excursions privately and were able to add people from the Cruise Critic Roll Call board to make the excursions less expensive. I would give special recognition to Aldo of Aldo's Limos for a great tour of the Amalfi coast. He really puts his heart, soul, and knowledge of the area into his tours (and only 55 euros per person with 8 in his new MB van). Also, if you have been to Rome, think about a tour to Orvieto and one or two other small Umbria towns. From Villafranche, Eze and Monaco are recommended, but also try to make a stop in St. Paul de Vence, a wonderful little town of art galleries and cafes.

Amazing impressions by 19Vale47

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We got a lot of new amazing impressions from different country's attractions. Bad impressions from Dubrovnik: too expensive, peoples are malevolent. KV11 shore excursion is very cute visually, but Islands that we visited for beach and lunch absolutely not ready for acceptance the tourists. Bad sanitation, the meal uneatable and can be the reason of poisoning. The lower level of the guide. NPO4 is very good excursion, but long non stop way to Amalfi (more than 2hr without restroom) is hard test for not young people. One day of the our vacation has been stolen by security of Equinox. We got our baggage only about 7:00 p.m. in despite of we had priority to get it. The reason is the Iron in baggage. First of all, the ticket agreement not put a veto on Iron, Secondly, if it is a really dangerous using iron, the special iron room must be equipped on the ship in order to passenger could prepare their formal dress. Now you enforce passangers to take too expensive iron service.
