Holiday Cruise by jnc1218f

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Sailing with Celebrity for the 2nd over the holidays was a very pleasant and relaxing experience.  The staff especially in the dinning room and the stateroom were very attentive to our needs and requests. The entire crew were very friendly and cheerful despite being away from home over the holidays.  We are planning

a Mediterranean cruise this some and are expecting the same level of service.

Celebrity Becomes Carnival During Christmas by stolbert

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I did a back-to-back cruise this year on the same boat, (Equinox) and the same cabin (Concierge Class).   The first cruise was a 10 day eastern Caribbean and the second an 11 day journey to the Panama Canal and back.

The two cruises could not have been more different.

The first was ideal.   The cruisers all seemed to want the same things I did...peace, tranquility and a pleasant passage.   On December 12, on 'turnaround day' everything changed.

Among the new passengers were over 600 children who were virtually unsupervised for the entire cruise.   When they weren't unsupervised, their parents were part of the problem.   There were supposed to be rules of conduct but they were not enforced.   The staff was reluctant to tell anyone 'NO'.

Kids that appeared to be as young as 4 roamed the ship unsupervised, playing in the elevators, running in the hallways and otherwise intruding on others.   Teenagers acted as if the other passengers didn't matter and even taunted them when they misbehaved.   There were kids using the casino as a passageway and in one instance, a parent even brought his infant to the adult Jacuzzi in the aqua-spa and put the diaper clad infant in it with him.   When the other adults in the Jacuzzi objected he had a fit and refused to remove the infant.   Disgusting.

The New Years Eve party seemed designed to please the crew more than the passengers.   The main party at the outdoor pool had contemporary music which was OK since the more mature passengers like myself don't don a tuxedo or gown to hang around an outdoor pool in the heat.   The alternative sites didn't provide relief.   The dance area on the 14th deck featured salsa music and had 5, 6 and 7 year olds on the dance floor and otherwise acting like hyperactive kids.   The music planned for deck 5 was cancelled because the musician was sick.   The other music on deck 3 was good but was limited to a set of 5 songs.

I actually paid extra for this experience.

I have been a fan of Celebrity for several years and normally take a 3 to 4 week December cruise every year to ring in the new year.

Never again...at least not on Celebrity.   I have to resume my search for a cruise line that doesn't lose its 'class' over the holidays.

Wonderful 50th wedding anniversary cruise! by jensmom24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Equinox is a beautiful and well maintained ship.  We enjoyed dinner in Murano twice, the service was outstanding.  All the ports and islands were good and especially Marigot and Orient Beach.  We had the best embarkation and disembarkation experience ever... fast and efficient.

Great ship and cruise...small bumps by mikegreenspan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The ports were good, maybe Dominica not so much, no outstanding beaches, but two sea days at beginning and end provide time to relax and unwind. Ship was clean, staff pleasant and accommodating and entertainment and food good.

Silk Harvest Asian Restaurant just OK but pricey. For $70, I can feast at my local Sushi and Chinese restaurants with equal quality.

The bumps. The cruise was to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary. We received an invitation at our cabin on Dec 18 inviting us to a "Honeymoon" celebration event..only the event was held on Dec 14. Oops!

The departure morning, Dec 22, there was no paper bill left at our cabin...that never happened before. I went to Guest Relations, got one and they did say the bill should have been delivered to my cabin. Oops!  Guest Relations seemed to shrug this one off.

And, our laundry was lost for 24 hours. Ship personnel handled the recovery well (delivered to another cabin), chocolate covered strawberries, champagne and a $50 OBC.

The first two bumps should not have happened, lost laundry happens and ships response was very good.

My wife slipped (her bump) on the jogging track.  It was drizzling. The staff was quick to respond with assistance and a band aid, called to follow-up on how she felt and insisted she have an x-ray at no cost to us. She did and nothing more than a bruise. Outstanding and concerned response.

We booked an October 2016 cruise on board from Istanbul to Rome. All is good. Celebrity is good.

As an Elite level Celebrity cruiser, the perks have not disappeared as they have as a Diamond level cruiser on sister Royal Caribbean. Of 19 cruises all but two have been on RC or Celebrity.

Celebrity Equinox will NOT disappoint by bean9617pgh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this cruise (12/1-12/2014).  Part of the reason it was so awesome was the Aqua Class Veranda cabin we had.  The staff was pleasant all around, no one pushed any extras on us, and if we had any questions, someone was there to help.  The ship is very nicely decorated and logically organized.  The unique Hot Glass Show should not be missed and don't wait until the last day to see it.  The Blu Restaurant is absolutely worth going to as the service and food is the best we have ever experienced.  The ports were all new to us (except Cozumel) but very enjoyable.  Just be flexible with the locals.  Never felt uncomfortable even though we walked a lot.  Best thing we did for coffee was to go to local grocery stores to buy the items.  Beer was very cheap there too!

Love the ship poor service in dining room was disappointing. Cramped seating by lillytsu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great Ship and excellent itinerary. Mostly good food but poor service in dining room. Very cramped seating and although our head waiter was slow but effective, his server was extremely slow and obviously not very well trained. They tried to be friendly, but not an excuse. People at other tables around us were seated after us, but we were always served last. We decided to eat at the buffet most of the time which was not what we really wanted, but found less aggravating! We enjoyed the main shows, but this cruise lacked other entertainment. The Miami DJ was terrible! The Sky lounge was beautiful but wasted most of the time for lack of enjoyable music. The exception was the 70's night. The room attendant was excellent and we left him a nice additional tip.

Poor......room.....noise at night....poorly layout....no fan in bathroom....few drawers

fair.......food on top deck mediocre .....poor layout very hard to navigate

excellent....food in main dining room.....service thru out ship first class

outstanding......shows/entertainment.........Broadway quality

I think that the size of this ship was more than we could handle....I don't think that we will go on a ship of this size again.  Princess in our estimation is our line of choice.

8.5 out of 10 by needmorevacatio

Pretty Good! Just came back from this 10 night cruise with much thoughts. Everything was pretty good. Nothing was outstanding and nothing was bad at all. Our room ( balcony )was sufficient in size. The bed was quite comfortable, but the pillows were very soft. Our room steward was very attentive and was there any time we needed something. We did the anytime dining which I highly recommend. The only problem with it is you get different waiters every evening so no bond is formed or extra service.. Food was always good nothing that we raved over. Our biggest minus was for 2 adults in our early 50,s we were among the 25% youngest ones on the cruise. This led to not that much activity by the pool and we felt there were less things to do during the days at sea. ..

We found the total experience on the Equinox to be extremely pleasant and relaxing. We sailed in Aqua Class. We loved the food in Blu and the steam rooms in the Persian Garden. Ports were great. Wish I was still on board!

Best cruise ever by JCDD6

Ports were good.  Crowd a mix of older individuals.  Food in Ocean View Café very good.  It was very easy to get on and off of the boat while in port.  No long lines or waiting.  Activities planned for just about every hour on sea days.  You could do all kinds of activities or just relax.  It was never boring.

Equinox Nov 10 by srpk

Good itinerary...just a lot of rain.  The highlights were the Panama Canal on the ferry boat...got to touch the walls of the canal in the locks.  Great perspective of the locks operations.  Even the rain didn't damper our excitement.  Enjoyed swimming with the rays in the Grand Cayman and had a great tour in Costa Rican rain forest.

Best cruise ever by dsine

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Starting with Chris Festerman's (Cruises Only Agent) excellent support, this was a wonderful cruise.  We loved Celebrity Cruise Line (sailed on the Equinox).  Everything went smoothly from start to finish.

The staff, entertainment, and food was first class. We will definitely sail with Celebrity again.  Chris will also be our new choice of agents. He was very patient and thorough in answering ALL our questions. We especially enjoyed the length of our cruise as well as the ports we visited. Having the paid gratuities was also a plus.  It was nice not to have to sign each time we made a purchase.

I think I will stick to Holland America from now on.  HA staff is 5 star---Celebrity staffing is poor, except for Guest Relations on the Equinox----Carl was excellent!  Dining room staff  very poor---had 4 different tables in 5 nights and we had fixed seating!!!!  The Maitre d' staff extremely poor.

We had a wonderful time on the ship.  The ship was large but it never felt like we were too far away from anything.  The ports of call were great and the food was delicious.

Equinox Celebity Mediterranian Cruise!!!!!!! by carmen5415

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Had a wonderful time!!! first time on a Celebrity cruise ship! Love the staff, food and excursions. Will definitely go with Celebrity again in the future! My husband and I highly recommend the cruise line. We went with our friends, Pat and Ann. They recommended this cruise and we are thrilled they did!!!  We had a wonderful room with veranda. Nice size room!!!! Impressed with cleaning staff and cafeteria waiters! Better than Costa cruise lines!!!! Good as Holland America which was the last cruise line we were on. Excursions were fun and guides were knowledgeable. Worth the money to go on them. I had a wonderful spa experience with a nice chiroprator, a nice young lady from Johasnesburg,South Africa. She was very gentle with me, especially since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis  and Fibromyalgia.

OK , but Got Sick 3 days into the cruise by dawnruperealtor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Equinox / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Food at the buffet for lunch was good, but not for dinner.  I can't say the main dinning had any better food.   Both my husband and I got colds the third day and can't figure out how we got them except that someone must of been sick in our room on the last cruise.  We were both really healthy when we got on the ship.

Not real happy with the room attendant as I kept having to ask him for things.  Entertainment on the ship was the norm you find on most ships these days.  What I did like about the cruise was there daily itinerary.  There was a good mix of things to do on board the ship.  I thought the casino paid out good for casino's on ships.  I found  a few slot machines I could play on for awhile and won some good bonuses. No tenders on this trip so getting off and on the ship at ports was very easy.  Overall the ships crew were very friendly whereever you went.  The free drink package was a great deal and would make me book on Celebrity again.
