Luxurious resort like adult oriented by jmp594

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Our first cruise with Celebrity and we loved it. We didn’t have the kids with which is probably ideal for this ship due to limited onboard activities except kids programming. We enjoyed the newness and unique features including room controls on our phones. We had an infinite veranda and enjoyed it but a higher deck may have been better. Overall pricy but had a luxurious modern resort feel and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Shows were good but nothing I would call can’t miss. Food was excellent as well as the service. Plenty of options but not sure specialty dining was worth the extra cost because it was not especially unique or better than other included options. Cabin and common areas were kept very clean. We would consider this ship in the future or an upcoming sister ship when our kids are older or as an adult only cruise.

Very unique in several ways. We loved the infinite balcony, makes the room seem so much bigger. Loved the large screec tv in room.

Beautiful Ship by royyonkers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Beautiful Ship. Some very fresh and innovative design changes throughout. Eden is a great venue to relax in and the restaurant is delicious. The only negative is the infinity veranda stateroom. It is basically an outside stateroom with a oversized window that opens up.

Absolutely incredible ship! From the incomparable atmosphere of Eden to the classic restaurants (and there are many), it just never ends. The infinite verandas make the rooms feel massive.

Great anniversary by bizeebees

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

The only big suggestion I would have for celebrity management would be to pleases top the upsetting, before we got on the ship wegot hit with multiple emails selling, repeatedly , drink packages, wifi ,upgrading the rooms, excursions, additional spa treatment, buying jewlery, purchasing the next cruise, constantly pressure to buy dinnersat 6 additional fancy restaurants ( not needed- the food & staff were amazing). At times it was like traveling with car salesman ,too much! I go on vacation for rest, relaxation, & peace. I have spent enough$ already, thank you for asking.

Wonderful ship, disappointing itinerary changes by pbflead

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Wonderful ship, crew, food, amenities. Enjoyed my time onboard ship. I will schedule my own vacations in future, enabling visits to places I want to go to, when I want to go there. Cruising does not allow sufficient personal flexibility (cancellation, refunds) when ship/company itinerary changes are contrary to my vacation desires.

Overall, we were underwhelmed with our cruise ship experience. We were surprised by the lack of wildlife, but loved the landscape and excursions . We saw the northern lights, what an awesome sight.

A Must-Do Cruise! by AMiracle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Rained all day in Ketchikan, but we still enjoyed the Bear viewing excursion. We lucked out in Juneau with the weather, but the whale watching was a bit of a disappointment in that while we did see humpbacks, the excursion mentioned orca - and we find out on the boat that orca are actually very rare in the area. The port was VERY crowded… just be aware that the best food places have huge lines. Skagway was fantastic! We did the combo white pass rail, dog mush camp, and gold panning. Very worth the price of this trifecta. We also had an amazing dinner in town, and got lucky with weather again!

Upscale Ship with great service by WorldTrvlr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

We enjoyed Celebrity. The first day was hard because there was a TON of “upsell” but after the second day, it went away. Food and Staff were great. The specialty restaurants were way overpriced - especially Eden, and not worth the money. This was our first Celebrity cruise and we plan to go again.

Celebrity Edge is a beautiful ship and I would definitely cruise on it again! Dawes Glacier excursion was cancelled which was a disappointment but everything else was great! I hope to go on another Alaska cruise in the future!

NOT OUR LAST TRIP TO ALASKA by angelo0502

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Our 7-day Alaskan cruise started off great. After a brief tour of the ship, we decided to have lunch at the Oceanview Cafe. We then went to the Spa instead of the Sail Away on the top deck. Not that many guests were there! Our first day at sea was pure bliss. Nothing but quiet relaxation time. Even our cabin was quiet which was noteworthy due to our cabin not that far from the mid-elevators. Pre booked excursions through celebrity included a VIP Endicott Arm & Glacier tour, a Whale Watching & Salmon Bake tour, and the White Pass Scenic Railway Tour. We also went on other excursions not booked through Celebrity (highly recommend): Misty Fjords National Monument Tour in Ketchikan through Island Wings (an absolute must!), the Lumberjack Show, and a horse drawn carriage tour through Tally-Ho in Victoria at night (booked the 9 - 10:15pm ride with plenty of time to get back to the ship). Gained 5 pounds with all the food I ate on and off the ship (go get you some Halibut at Red Fish Blue Fish in Victoria. Worth the wait!). Spent couple more days at the Thermal Spa, caught a few shows, took tons of pics and video. We traveled as a couple and had the time of our lives, especially with the addition of 4 nights in Seattle! This was by far the best cruise (1st with Celebrity) and the best vacation we have taken together. Wife wants to fly back to Victoria to spend a few days. So beautiful and arguably the most beautiful city in all of Canada! And the biggest surprise of all was that it did not rain at all in our entire trip, including the 4 nights we spent in Seattle. Truly blessed!

Wonderful week cruising Alaska by ahawk20

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Celebrity Edge is a lovely ship, upscale from Royal Caribbean & Princess. Yet still comfortable and unpretentious. We had couples of all ages- honeymooners on up, families with adult children, families with teenagers, families with elementary aged kids, a few toddlers and even little babies! Surprisingly very few if any motorized scooters :). Will be doing another Edge Class cruise again.

Underwhelming - A mixed bag of highs and lows by SeattleCruiser1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Edge

Was a little surprised to see the high ratings from this particular cruise. Have been to Alaska several times and booked this cruise as a chance to try out the Retreat and visit Dawes Glacier. Retreat was just OK, and generally paled against the Haven on newer NCL ships like the Prima. We missed Dawes Glacier due to an overnight passenger medical issue and Coast Guard had more pressing matters than to airlift passenger off. As such, we went straight to Juneau. No compensation provided by Celebrity, but passenger disappointment was high enough that the captain gave a specific lecture on what happened. I’d like to give this specific cruise 3 stars vs 4, because the missed excursion disproportionately affected our experience even if other areas were better. Many passengers took the view that there is always another cruise, which came across as a privileged position, and not realistic for some. If choosing an Alaska cruise and this will be the one shot, recommend a cruise that spends all day at the glacier (Endicott Arm or Glacier Bay) or visits in afternoon after Juneau to reduce risk of missing. Theoretically on the right itinerary, the Edge should be great at a glacier given the bow thrusters and maneuverability. We are taking Celebrity again this fall in Europe on the Ascent, but not traveling in the Retreat so a better value. If we were to return to Alaska we’ll likely look at a smaller ship next time, such as Seabourn or Uncruise.
