Review summary

Our first cruise with Celebrity and we loved it. We didn’t have the kids with which is probably ideal for this ship due to limited onboard activities except kids programming. We enjoyed the newness and unique features including room controls on our phones. We had an infinite veranda and enjoyed it but a higher deck may have been better. Overall pricy but had a luxurious modern resort feel and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. Shows were good but nothing I would call can’t miss. Food was excellent as well as the service. Plenty of options but not sure specialty dining was worth the extra cost because it was not especially unique or better than other included options. Cabin and common areas were kept very clean. We would consider this ship in the future or an upcoming sister ship when our kids are older or as an adult only cruise.

Embarkation

Easy and quick when using the app, no need to stand in long lines as it took seconds

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Great selection of high quality and tasty food. The specialty restaurants were not significantly different or better than the four main dining rooms and were arguably not worth the additional cost. The buffet offered a great variety of delicious food that was attractively presented. Eden cafe offered amazing soups and sandwiches.

Mast Grill

5 out of 5

Great option for a quick burger and fries and other similar foods near the pool area and solarium

Cyprus Restaurant

5 out of 5

Favorite of the main dining rooms due to decor and comfort, food and service.

Eden Café

5 out of 5

Amazing soup and sandwiches. Everything tasted so fresh and good

Rooftop Garden Grill

4 out of 5

Tried lunch here and food was good and the venue was great but burger was kinda greasy and food options didn’t seem to justify the additional cost.

The Sunset Bar

5 out of 5

Became my favorite place on the ship. Located on the back upper deck of the ship. You can sip a drink with an amazing view.

Pool Bar

4 out of 5

Very close to the pool. Usually busy. Sometimes they were out of ingredients like limes.

Oceanview Café

5 out of 5

Lots of good food options and comfortable not crowded seating, attractive decor and great views. I don’t know why they put the pizza station in the very back

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

5 out of 5

Nice decor, excellent service and food options.

Café Al Bacio

4 out of 5

Convenient location serving coffee drinks and desserts and drinks. Always a line to get service

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not as many planned activities on the daily calendar and no rock walls or some of those amenities as the Royal Caribbean cruises we are used to and it was also a preview sailing so maybe it will be a little different on their regular sailings.

Solarium

5 out of 5

Very comfortable loungers. A great option if you are sun adverse but want to relax and have a view and enjoy an indoor pool and hot tub.

The Grand Plaza

5 out of 5

Beautifullly decorated in the main part of the ship.

Pool

5 out of 5

Very comfortable loungers with plenty of towels, attendants, beautiful design and usually live music. Hot tubs with a great view.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The live music around the ship was very good with mostly familiar pop songs. The shows (Jewelry Box) were good but a little over the top on the stage affects and the artistry. There was a music show called Hype with a super talented lead singer/dancer with an amazing vocal range and an amazing band but the dancers with their frequent costume changes didn’t add much and at times detracted from the music. 45 or so minutes of continuous very varied music and dance was not especially entertaining despite the talent of the performers.

The Theatre

5 out of 5

The venue was unfortunately better than the shows. A stage that extends into the seating area instead of the more typical stage front. Lots of amazing special effects digital screens and moving stage parts. Shows were a little too artistic with a excessive use of dancing.

Rooftop Garden

4 out of 5

Very attractive out door space on an upper deck but not much to do here

Children's Programs

Walked through the area and looked at the schedule and it looked like fun with some unique activities but the space was somewhat small. We did not have our kids with on this cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent personable and attentive staff in dining rooms which we were in three of the four on this short 3 night cruise. Only negative was one of our sommeliers wasn’t very attentive. The customer service was outstandingly nice. They were able to resolve any issues we had. They were especially good handling some irate customers. It did appear there were some issues and adjusting to a new ship or computer system perhaps in various areas around the ship but generally not too bad

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is brand new so it was well maintained minus a couple of small spots that were surprisingly showing wear and tear already. Everything was kept very clean both in the staterooms and common areas. Ship design and decor was more modern plush resort like than typical cruise ship feel. Some design elements had ramps that went to other levels instead of stairs which was aesthetically pleasing and convenient but awkward at times when navigating the ship because you would need to walk to the opposite side of the ship to get to where you needed.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We tried one of the new infinite veranda rooms. The bathroom was larger including the shower than the typical cabin. All the decor was like a modern resort. The balcony does not extend outside your room but instead is an extension of your room. There is a bifold clear door that leads to your balcony. On the balcony there is a blackout shade that can be lowered and the top half of your balcony window can be lowered to get the ocean breeze. Lights, TV and balcony controls can be found on cruise lines app which you can control from your phone even if you don’t have the internet package. I was slightly disappointed by the view on deck 6 from the balcony because it is not along the edge of the ship (the rooms are inset away from the edge) and there is an open deck with equipment on it just one deck down so it was in your view even though it didn’t technically have an obstructed view.

Ship tip

Expect to pay a premium but it may be worth it. A sister ship is expected in 2020. This ship might change the future of ship designs. If you want to know more look into endoskeloton versus exoskeleton

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and easy. Numbers were called at a good pace. Self carry option was easy as well since it was a short cruise. Customs was a breeze with the new facial recognition it only took a few seconds. Then you were directed to a non declaration (of which everyone seemed to be waved through without any questions) versus a declaration line.

This was only a 3 night preview sailing so we spent most of our time exploring the ship. I’m sure the 7 night regular sailings will have more activities and you would be able to see all the offered evening shows. To answer the question about is deck 7 high enough. I would think so but if you can go up any higher for minimal cost I would probably do it. We were near an area where there was a covered seating area and not far from an access point to get outside on deck five. I didn’t feel like I had great privacy with people occasionally walking on the open deck below but it wasn’t often and it wasn’t like they could see me unless I had my balcony window open and I was standing at the edge of the balcony and they were looking up. Obviously if people are walking around on deck they are mostly looking out to sea.

We are on deck 7... would you recommend still going higher?
