Amazing time. Would love to do it again. It was a shame we missed Maui.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Bit confusing through Vancouver, longer than past experiences elsewhere.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food was exceptional in both Ocean Cafe, Main Dining Room and Eden Cafe.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Not really any bells and whistles on this ship!
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Not very much going on except if you wanted to go sit in dark nightclub (during the day) for quizzes, game shows etc.
Very sedate sailing, no loud music blaring anywhere even when bands/groups were playing.
A lot of wasted space used for high end shops (that NEVER had anybody in them), that could have been used for another sports bar/pub that would have been ideal for quizzes/game shows where there is actual daylight coming in.
Children's Programs
No children and none on the sailing either!!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Exceptional, and very discreet. I only caught my room steward once or twice. No corridors strewn with carts and laundry at anytime.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Extremely clean. But as mentioned above, so, so much space wasted with pointless stores!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
This was a solo infinite verandah cabin. It was fit for purpose, didn’t spend much time in there! Lack of storage space though, no draws to put t-shirts, underwear etc, just 2 small shelves under the safe.
Shower was the biggest I’ve experienced on a ship. Bed was sooooo comfy.
Surprised by this port, it might have been the weather, it was a glorious sunny autumn afternoon. We just strolled along the waterfront, saw seals taking in the sun and found a nice brewery for a beer!
Not much around the port. First day we got on Hoppa-on-Hopper-off bus (literally outside port gates), visited Rainbow Falls, Candy Factory among other places. Got off downtown and wandered around the farmers market. If you do anything in Hilo, then eat at Pineapples, really good food and reasonably priced. Back to the bus, and ‘hopped’ around some beaches.
On second day, hired a car and drove up to volcano national park. Amazing…
Really nice little port (tendered). Again we hired a car and drove to the north of the island and had enough time to come back and do the south too, visiting beaches and sights.
So disappointed with Honolulu/waikiki as an area, it’s so expensive. We managed to get out of the city, so much better. Pearl Harbour and Kualoa Ranch.
