I am a smoker so those that smoke had a nice deck to use with sitting area. Each morning I took my cup of coffee and sat on this deck. Slot machines are very tight. Delicious food. Crew are the best.

There are not huge pools available. There were 2 medium pools, 1 smaller pool and 4 hot tubs, which is too warm to use in the hot months.

The serenity decks were great but they need more pool area. The pools were always so full of people that you could't even get in.

Late dining is great so that you don't feel rushed to make the early dining if out for a long day at port or just hanging out by the pool areas. However it doesn't work very well for attending the shows in the Theater. They need to adjust times to accommodate late diners better.

If you sail and are an older couple, July would not be a good time to go. Parents were not controlling their children and they were running our halls at 2 AM. They did not listen to others asking them to stop running and making noise. Younger kids 5-8. Crew even asked them but no parents around.

Carnival offers a pack of water bottles for $3.99 if ordered precruising. It is a very casual ship as far as dressing. I would not bring a lot of dress up clothing. One outfit would be enough.

This was our first time every having a aft cabin. It was great just made for a lot of walking back and forth to the front of the ship. Might next time get a balcony midship and see if we can cut down on the walking. It's a big ship.

On the Lido deck towards the pizza, there are two jacuzzies that were not filled up as much as others on the ship. That was a nice place to go hang out and then grab lunch. There were typically less people in that location if that is something you desire during your trip on the Valor.

The serenity deck on this ship was very big and had two spas, better than some ships!

People are packed in like sardines and the cigarette smell is terrible. People actually don't get challenged about smoking in non smoking sections.
