Had a wonderful time. Was the first time my husband went. And my three girls. Can't wait to plan another one. But would want to plan a different one with different ports and different ship.

Second and last time with Carnival

We gave Carnival a second try because we didn't think it was fair to judge off of one trip. Unfortunately this was our last time. The ship and staff have the potential to be an awesome vacation but Carnival's typical guest is obnoxious, drunk, lack social courtesies and use the ship as a babysitter. Kids were running and screaming through the hallways and stairways constantly - as late as 2 am.

Excellent staff... but.......

Overall, I would say it was a good experience. You do have to keep in mind the cruise line wants your money... so the whole trip may seem like one huge tourist trap. But keeping that in mind and watching what you spend will keep your expenses at a reasonable level.

My family cruise

The cruise itself was very nice the maintenance staff has something to be desired after cleaning my balcony they left the chairs and table stacked up against the balcony door. My wife's cabin had a A/C problem and they just brought her a fan for the room.

Pleasant Cruise

The ship is very dark and somewhat tired. We went on cruise to relax and we were able to do that. Do not know if we would travel on Carnival again. It would have to be a much newer ship.

The sail away party was fun. The muster drill was not. Overall, we had a great time. We enjoyed all the amenities and facilities and entertainment and especially all the delicious food offering. We loved where our cabin was located. It was perfect trip for my girlfriends birthday celebration.

Pleasant trip

A pleasant trip with a few issues with staff. The biggest complaint was coming home with gifts brought from Cozumel that was wrapped in newspapers covered with photos of non censored dead bodies. Check your newspapers before giving to people especially children.

The most fun vacation ever!!!!!

We boarded the ship and right away started having fun. Delicious drinks were being served while we were waiting to gain access to our room and set sail. Each day of the cruise brought a new adventure both on board and at the ports.

A Bit Outdated Cruise

It wasn't the best first cruise experience, but it wasn't the worst either. Me and my daughter had a good time and I am going on a Royal Caribbean cruise with some friends this November. It will be interesting to see how the two compare.

Wonderful and Amazing First Cruise

My husband and I went on our very first cruise on the Carnival Valor. We got the Faster to the Fun add-on and were very pleased. Although the extension to the customer services (dedicated) line never worked we were only 2 floors down from the desk. However, one of the porters broke a very expensive bottle of cologne and when we complained and asked to be compensated we got complimentary laundry. Only one out of the 5 people working the services desk actually seemed happy to help us so that was disappointing. And although the faster to the fun comes with your room ready by the time you board (it was) our luggage came later-like almost a few minutes before the ship left the port. However-aside from this the rest of the crew were amazing. Everyone was very polite and knowledgable. We were always told Good Morning, Evening, Afternoon-asked if we needed anything. The service we received from the rest of the crew was amazing. Our steward, George, was amazing. We actually used the complimentary laundry and he had our clothes washed, folded, and in our room way before he said he would. We left him an additional tip even with the gratuities already paid. The cruise director, Orlando, is phenomenal. He was awesome. Words cannot express how much fun we had. The ship itself is beautiful and like a wonderful maze. I think by the end of the cruise we had figured out an easier way to get to our dining room. The food was OMG wonderful. Filet mignon for breakfast? Yes, please and thank you. We just had the best time and I will always cruise with Carnival and am looking forward to our next adventure. Love

My preteen girls were a little boredom the ship. Not much to do besides the pool.  My 3 year old had a blast with the pool and kids camp program.   The service was great at dining and housekeeping. Food was better than I expected.

1st Cruise

I had an overall great experience. The only thing I did not like was docking in Progresso. It was very dirty looking. I don't want to talk bad about the people there; I just believe that for a commercial cruise line, a better looking location need to be selected.

My favorite part of the cruise would defintly be dinner with my family and the group that took care of us Blanca, Peter, and John Raymond they were phenomenal I didn't want to go back home because of them they were so attentive, sweet, and funny. Phdera was also extremely sweet even though she did not serve me because I am not old enough to drink she was so sweet to my parents! Nengah was also greatttt he was so friendly with my brother and I and funny too! If I ever take another cruise I wish that that they are there too. I also liked how there are activities for all age groups. The cruise director Orlando was amazing too he always kept everything so up beat and he was always happy and smiling. Happy

Old and Rusted and Outdated Valor

Verified Review

Skip this ship and Carnival Valor, For $350 + $52 mandatory tip you can get a couples massage while kids above you run and jump and have fun. The Main Dinning room will only offer 1 unique item each night, one appetizer was flat bread pizza with BBQ chicken not impressive. Steak was 6 oz., Vegetarian options were even more limited. Kids (2 & 5) pay the same as adults, so with my family we were only looking to booking 4 rooms but we split the adults up and for only $40 more got 5 rooms. On a positive the cruise director and a bar tender Erwin did Great jobs doing their jobs to make the cruise better!

First Time was a Good Time

My favorite part of the cruise had to be the dinners.  We became very attached to our wait staff -  Blanka, John Raymond, Petre, and Phadra.  They were so sweet and accommodating.  We looked forward to seeing them every day. Please let us know the best way to convey our appreciation to their supervisors.  The food was delicious as well.

We also appreciated the housekeeping staff person, Nengah.  He was very friendly and accommodating, and remembered our son's name.  He welcomed us every time he saw is in the hallway.

Our cruise director, Orlando, was incredible as well.  He seemed to work 24/7.  We enjoyed the welcome party, the '80's music trivia, the magic show with Bobby Borgia.

Also, the Decades of Music Asia was fantastic.  We are not dancers, and they got us dancing.  We enjoyed watching other people dance as well.

Guy Fieri's burgers were delicious, and we liked the pizza and Blue Iguana tacos as well.

The ship is complicated to navigate, and we were often confused as to which way to go.  Everyone was pleasant throughout, except a little attitude from one Guest Services employee on the last day.  We did have to change our flight home, and Nenad(? from Serbia) in Guest Services was very kind to find and dial the number to the airline for us, so that we could make the change.

We enjoyed our massages, and we are enjoying the products we got from our masseuses, Jessica and Conie(?).

We felt the spa classes we took were too geared to selling products - the foot/walking improvement - $220/pair for simple arch supports??  And for the herbal remedies, we decided to skip our consultation, because we could see the aim would be to sell an expensive array of remedies.

We did buy a painting at the auction that we are excited to get when it ships.

Thanks for making our first cruise a great vacation!
