Carnival Valor

Review summary

Starting with good, the Captain kept us away from the Hurricane. $11.80 is no compensation for not going to a port. Carnival is short sighted, their focus in on short profit and not customer satisfaction. I was tired of saying no thank you. Duty free alcohol may be well priced, but jewelry, services and clothing are overpriced.

Embarkation

We made an appointment and we embarked early

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Dining room food was a mystery. Nothing stood out. The buffets was full of people trying to sell you drinks and very little help. I spent my meals saying NO Thank for the drinks they were selling for Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Went to stretch class afterward another sales job and No thank you

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Comedian was good, shows not so good

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
I recommended that waiters should assists passengers with the coffee and hot water machine due to the long lines since the machine were confusing. I was told thank you that is a good idea, but nothing was done.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Yes

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Everything looked worn. Balcony had a lot of rust and the chair looked like they should be replaced.

Ship tip

Bring your empty water bottle and be prepared to say No thank you a lot.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

2 out of 5
Homelessness is problem, the smell of Marijuana is all over Bourbon ST even though it is illegal. Cafe Reconcile is very good for lunch. Snug Harbor had good food. Jazz was good but the place is small and the chairs are uncomfortable. Bless your food because the vents are filthy.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Just pay the $4 for the taxi and go to Krazy Lobster for food and drinks and great spot on the beach

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

Due to the hurricane we did not visit the port and we got $11.80 refund. What an insult

RC refunded their cruisers for missing ports. Maybe try them next time. I stayed so sick I'm not booking during hurricane season anymore with any cruise line. ha ha.

I was on the same cruise and absolutely loved every minute of it. No regrets.

The 11.80 was not a refund for missing the port, but a refund of port fees. You paid for a cruise not for any ports.

Don’t book a cruise during the hight of hurricane season.

Most ships have a little rust on their balconies after a year or so in service. They don't owe you anything but your port fees back for missing a port.... Sorry you had a bad cruise... I have never had a bad one out of 15 so far.

Maybe cruising is not for you.

Sorry you were disappointed. If ports are skipped due to safety, it is my understanding no compensation is required. Perhaps a good gesture.

Insult? They owe you NOTHING but the port fees.... carnival can not control the weather... READ YOUR CONTRACT!
