Nice cruise by JohnM40

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

This is a very nice ship. It has everything you need and more. If you're looking to soak up the sun at the pool, however, you'll be very, very disappointed. The pool in our backyard is bigger than that thing. Add 100 screaming kids and you get the idea. Like to exercise? Forget it. The walking track is so small you feel like a hamster in a cage going round-n-round. It does have a work out room -- but it's small and smells like pure BO and sweat.

Carnival Splendor Cruise by LindyN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

It was beautiful with lots to do. Loved all the live music. However, I would never purchase shore excursion through your company ever again. The canopy tour in Puerta Vallarta was so inferior to the one through Carnival that I am going to warn everyone booking through you never to book a shore excursion through your company & to always do it through the cruise line. Even though they cost more-the price is well worth it rather than to have a dissappointing experience!

An OK CRUISE by BrentM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Overall it was a good time. Just surprised about mandatory tipping for everything. Originally sold, what I thought, was that all was included except for alcohol and 1 fine dining restaurant. We had to pay for bottled water and soda as well. You could order water in a glass, but when you did, waiters would ignore you and never come back until you actually ordered a soda, beer, drink. The 15% tip would kick in, and then they would serve. Happened multiple times, multiple days, multiple different servers. So this is a trend..They also automatically billed me halfway through crusie for $250 tip for housecleaners. Then at the end, there was an envelope left for our dinner server, that we could choose to tip more...Overall, ended up being an extra $550 in just tips that I wasnt completely planning on. Food was good, overall fun. Just seems like low price lead in to get you on the boat, then hammer you from there. Plan on paying double of what your original cruise price is for your days.

Worse Cruise Ever! by DayneE

A cheap Vegas knock off. Food was not that great and we were treated like second class citizens by the Matre 'd simply because we booked at the last minute.

A Great Honeymoon Cruise! by JessicaD

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Everything was awesome! There was so much to do around the ship but if you just wanted to relax in your room that was even enjoyable! The room was bigger than on past ships I have been on and all the rooms had a tv that you could enjoy. The shows in the lounge were great the dancers and singers did a great job. The comedy shows were really funny I wish I was able to go to all of them but there was just so much going on all over the ship!

Fun ship, fun cruise! by IanC1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The Carnival Splendor was a fairly new ship and was well-maintained. The decor in the main lobby was a bit gaudy, but you get over it quickly. We had an oceanview cabin on level 1 near mid-ship, so we had a great view of the ocean at all times. The rooms were large enough for 2 adults and a child. There was an extra seating area in the room which converted to another bed. The bathroom was decent in size and everything worked fine. The ship offered a wide range of amenities, although not all seemed to be widely utilized. Since Carnival caters to family travelers, there were fun things for all members of the family to do. There was a spa at the top level, with an adjoining, generously equipped gym. There was Camp Carnival where you could leave your kids (segregated by age groups to cater to each group), and of course, there were at least 3 pool areas, and a number of jacuzzis around. The ship also offered an area for mini-golf, a water slide, a water park, and a basketball court. Too bad the Pacific winds tend to be quite cold (we traveled in May), as we could only get limited use of these outdoor activities because of it. Overall, the trip was highly enjoyable. The crowd at the Splendor was a mixed bag, with people from all ages, so if you expect a quiet cruise, this is not it. However, if you want variety, and activities, this ship is for you.

Fun cruise for family. by KatieU

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

The ship was nicely decorated and comfortable, but my husband and I received bunk beds in a handicap room for the week. When we attempted to resolve the situation, the Purser was not exactly sympathetic nor able to change our room. In fact, the Purser blamed the fact that I booked through Alaska Airlines ("AA") as the problem. I have been a loyal AA customer for years and, as I believed from the beginning, the problem was not with AA. AA was great in its attempts to resolve the problem, but nothing could be done, so we accepted it for what it was and aimed to have a good cruise regardless. It was a lovely cruise, despite the discomfort of the single bunk beds. Just be ready to get out early if you want a lounge chair near the pools - they crowd up very quickly! Also be ready for a lot of kids, a number of which whose parents believe the ship is the babysitter - i.e., no true parental supervision so they run wild with little reprimand.

I have been on this ship before for a 21 day transatlantic crossing. The service was certainly not as good as it was before though I thought the entertainment improved considerably.

A Confusing Cruise by LoraL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

I thought the ship was like being in a maze, very confusing. I found the restaurant to be gawdy and crowded. I think the staff has a long way to go to be cohesive, and did not have a lot of information to provide when an inquiry was made. It may have been such a new staff, but I have cruised a lot, and though I liked my cabin size, I am not sure I will be a repeat to Carnival.
