average cruise by JimmyC2

Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

This was our third cruise and our first with Carnival. The Spirit was a nice ship and was more comparable to the Holland, Oosterdam than to the Royal Carribean, Princess of the Seas. It has been difficult to compare our last two cruises with our first on Royal Carribean. There was definate lack of overall friendliness and service on the Spirit compared to our other cruises. The food was not as good on this ship. I had to reorder steaks two nights and should have a third night because of overcooking of medium rare steaks. I finally gave up and ordered a hamburger and fries one night. There were just a lot of little things that weren't right.

Really impress how BIG the ship. The Empress Room (dining room) was excellent . I really enjoy the Jungle room, the Versailes Lounge, the Club Cool, Dancin Disco, Pharaoh Lounge is my favorite with all the decorations. Lido deck is always a fun place to be for everyone to listen to Latin music. This is a fantastic vogaye for the whole family(16).

A Fun-Filled Cruise! by FelixL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

The cruise was a first for the whole family. Nightly shows, continuing activities, fantastic food and out of this world service of the friendly staff have made the cruise to be remembered and treasured by everyone in the group. Ports visited are OK except that excursions should include trips to landmarks, such as the Mayan's/Aztec pyramids. After being on the water for most of the time, I would like to see places that are within the interior of Mexico (up to 2 hours drive) from the port. I have heard that the interior part of Mexico has lots to offer than those that are along the shore. Overall, the trip is excellent.

The best cruise ever! by AidaL

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

This is the first time that I had a cruise with my family during the Christmas holiday. I enjoyed every minute of it. The staff of the dining room and room service were very cordial and helpful. Overall, without the staff, our vacation would not be complete. To top it all, I congratulate you for having good food.

Best New Year's Eve Ever by VictoriaK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

We recently sailed on the Carnival Spirit as our first US cruise. Our dining room attendant Patrick was the best. He made the dinner hour with our new friends a pleasure. The staff everywhere was very cordial and helpful. We especially enjoyed the Casino as we are from Vegas. Everyone was very polite and even remembered our names and drinks. Ports of call were handled well and quickly. The ship has a reservations only dining room which had the most amazing food and wine list we have seen in some time. Service could not have been better anywhere. Our cabin was very well appointed and light with the balcony. New Year's Eve was the best in years. Great food, entertainment and overall party atmosphere was everywhere. Fun was had by all.

1st Cruise by MarciP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

I was surprised at the amount of "upselling" that goes on and how expensive everything is....photos, drinks, for intance. I was completely disappointed in the lack of customer service that I observed on several occasions, especially in the Playa Grill.

Wonderfull cruise by Ernesto1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

The only thing I'd like to see changed is to reduce the number of days at the sea. Perhaps the ship can expend a night or two on the visiting ports. The crew was exellent, so was the food at the formal restaurant. Didn't like a bit the plastic cups for drinks. Room (window) was very confortable with king bed for two.

An excellent cruise! by MarthaS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

The Carnival Spirit was wonderful. The crew from top to bottom. The food was excellent and the excurtions we took were great. Our stateroom was twice the size of RCCL, comparing apples to apples, and as was the veranda. We had a wonderful time and would book our next cruise with Carnival in a heartbeat.

The Carnival Spirit is a beautiful ship in the Carnival Fleet. The layout is easy to understand and find things. Overall it was a very nice cruise and would consider a carnival ship again in the future.

Terrific Times by AndrewC4

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

The staff was wonderful and it was the best run ship I have seen. It was clean at all times and there was activities of all kinds to enjoy. Some of our best days were the sea days more so than the shore days.

Good Value, Great Ports of Call by ReneeQ1

The ship was very nicely decorated. Plenty of activities but not in comparison to the larger vessels on RCCL.

Nice for a first cruise by ReneeQ1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

This was a nice cruise for the $$. We booked last minute and received a great deal.I would not pay more than $600 for this cruise if I had to book in advance. The shipboard activities were cheesy and not that interesting. There weren't any supportive services for infants age 7 months or babysitting and most of the excursions were not infant friendly. The buffet food was not that great, the only dining worth attending was main dining.

A real Nice Cruise-with a caveat or Two by MurrayP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

Overall we liked the Ambiance of the ship. We disliked the amount of smoking-there were areas of the ship you had to walk thru to get to where you wanted and you had to walk through the "Gauntlet of Smokers". We happened to get unlucky and had smokers on the rooms next to us-they had smokers cough and would smoke on the balconies. We tried to change rooms but were told the ship was full.

Were's the Mariachi? by AliciaG1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Spirit / Destination: Mexico

It was our second cruise, the first we went to Alaska, on NCL, my husband promise not to cruise again, but he finnaly he agreed and we went. What a difference !, the food to start with was so superior, the cabin with a balcony, that we were upgrade to, was huge and very nice, our room stwardess was wonderful, so neat and clean, we had ice all the time, they'll fix our room just after we would left. The room service was awsome always on time and accurate. The Spirit is beautiful and enormous. The service at the Empire room excelente, thanks to Gustavo, Romel and Anita. The Supper Club, was good but as little too sofisticated, impresive. The music there was excelent too. We had to stop in Ensenada instead of Manzanillo, but it was ok, (even if we live an hour away,) as long as we'll keep ourselves away from the storm. We went to Acapulco and Ixtapa (too short time to enjoy this beautiful place), my husband complain about spending a lot of time on the ship (two days going down and 2 days going up), but is up to you and how many ports you choose to visit. My only complain was, No Mariachi room with Margaritas and tequila shots, that should be a must in the cruise, no Salsa music, the ship was loaded with latino people and party crowds, that would have been very happy if the CEO would include that kind of entretainment on that beautiful ship.
