Our first cruise experience.. by MarkS32

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

This was our first cruise so we splurged and went with the penthouse suite (category 12 w/ balcony on the starboard side, forward). We are a family of four with 2 teen girls. The room was nice with a queen bed, a couch/bed and a drop-down ceiling bed. The bathroom had double sinks and a shower/tub with whirlpool jets (not very strong). We also had a nice balcony. The suite was nice, but not as large as we expected. There was plenty of closet, drawer, and storage space though. Next time we would probably opt for something less expensive as I'm not sure the extra money is worth it.

Exceeded Expectations by Roger4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

Overall the ship was well maintained and very clean. I guess on your first cruise it is easy to have your expectations exceeded, however everyone on board did a great job. Especially cruise director Chris!

A nice suprise. by EdH6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

This was our 11th cruise, the first on Carnival. We were very happy with the overall experience. We took our children and grand children, there were fourteen of us, ranging from 61 years to 6 months. Everyone enjoyed the cruise and are ready to cruise again.

Lots of Fun by LauraC14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

The ship wasn't as big as I thought it would be. The ceilings were really low in most of the areas on the ship and the color-scheme was very dark. Both contributed to a very closed-in feeling that I have not gotten on other ships.

Relaxing Week by AnnB10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

The ship overall was nice; the decorations were fairly gaudy. The crew was extremely nice and helpful--we had great service at dinner from Amin & Plamera. The downside was, the three of us were seated at a table set for nine people--no other diners EVER showed up, and the Maitre d' told us that he didn't want to move anyone--so we never got the chance to meet other shipmates during meals, which is for me the big social opportunity to bond with other passengers. Every night, the three of us went to our huge table...and looked like outcasts. And again--if we had known there was no water slide, we probably would have booked a different ship.

Spring Break Cruise by LavinnaW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

We loved the cruise. But I took my 18 yr old son for spring break. The only other spring breakers we met was in the ballroom as we were leaving.Their families felt the same way.The programs for the up to 17 yr old is great. And of course over 21 is bar scene. But to tell the 18 yr olds(he is still in High school ) to go to a disco which was full of drunk 21+ yr ols was not right. They should have had a social every night (ice cream, comedian, whatever )so the kids could meet each other. It would solve some underage drinking problems for them also. My son saId the girl he talked to at the ballroom had got involved with the older guys in the disco and they had gotten her drunk one night in there.Anyway her mom was not happy!Let's just break the 18-20 group out so they can meet their own age group.

A "so-so" cruise by EllenW7

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Mexico

The ship's decor was inappropriate for children. We decided to bring our children with us this time and were pretty surprised to see the ship decorated in Italian Renaissance decor. That meant a lot of nudity all over the walls and even in the elevators. Very bad choice for a "Fun Ship".

It was a nice cruise. There was nothing outstanding, but also nothing to cause consternation.

Best cruise yet! by sergiorusty

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride

The Pride is a great ship. It is more intimate than the larger ships. We really enjoyed the elegance of this ship. Between the ports, crew, ambience, and food this cruise not only met our expectations it exceeded them by leaps and bounds. Best cruise so far and we have been cruising since 1995.

quality has gone down by LucieCali

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It's my 3rd cruise with carnival. I asked what benefits I had from my "red" card instead of the blue (first time cruiser) and they said "you get a free bottle of water" I had to laugh. This is ridiculous. For the 3rd cruise you'd think I could get at least a free cocktail. Guy at the Guest services looked me up and down and was overall very condescending. Otherwise great cruise and generally good food at the buffet and MDR. Wish they had heathier choices though.

Sad cruise by Weeds

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride

Very disappointed with the cruise ship Carnival Pride food was not good either dried out or cold.entertainment was on existence since they had problems with stage. My idea of entertainment IS NOT singers setting on a bar stool. Communication was poor at best. At this point I am done with carnival.

Nice first time cruise by Playsfor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was my first time cruising, definitely went all out. The experience was great the ports and the ship! However, having a 10 day itinerary was too much and towards the end the other passengers really just got on my nerves. Specifically, people who cough and don’t cover their mouth. The amount of people who seemed sick was a huge turn off for me and cursing in general.
