This was our first cruise so we splurged and went with the penthouse suite (category 12 w/ balcony on the starboard side, forward). We are a family of four with 2 teen girls. The room was nice with a queen bed, a couch/bed and a drop-down ceiling bed. The bathroom had double sinks and a shower/tub with whirlpool jets (not very strong). We also had a nice balcony. The suite was nice, but not as large as we expected. There was plenty of closet, drawer, and storage space though. Next time we would probably opt for something less expensive as I'm not sure the extra money is worth it.

Food and Dining

Dinners where very good to excellent. Group dining areas where fair to good cafeteria style food.

Went to Sammy Hagar's Cabo-Wabo. It was hot & loud. Food was decent but long waits. Went to the Marina and walked Marina Blvd. Lots of nice shops but not-so-great prices.
Don't Miss: Playa el Medano - Awesome beach and swimming

Toured with Mazatlan Frank - a local tour guide (www.mazatlan-frank.com) This was excellent as we avoided the large buses and tourist traps. We did the City and Resort tour. Best shopping in the Golden Zone. Mazatlan is the best place to shop and negotiate.
Don't Miss: The old Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception church is beautiful, see old Mazatlan - very quaint

Did the Canopy Tour de Los Veranos. Very fun but hot & lots of climbing. You should be in good shape and enjoy physical activities.
Don't Miss: Malecon (main shopping area)

Pros: Food, staff, gym/spa, cleanliness, excursions

Cons: Extra fees & upsell attempts..
