Okay Cruise by DeeD1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our 4th cruise and our first on Carnival. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the ship and the size of the staterooms. There are so many public spaces that the ship never seemed crowded. All the staff - from the Cruise Director to the Dining Room staff and the Stateroom Stewards were wonderful. The shows at night were the best I have seen on a ship, and the the show production and singers were top notch. The biggest letdown for us was the food. Everything was lukewarm and most meals were bland with little flavor. If you ate at the buffet for dinner there were few choices compared to the buffets on NCL and Princess.

Family Cruise with 20 something kids by JudyM11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The Pride is beautiful. The crew and staff were beyond excellent. They went out of their way to make sure we were well taken care of. Christmas was festive and fun. The food was excellent, 5 out of 5 for every meal in Normandie and David's Steakhouse is worth the extra money. A true dining experience. The port days were just ok weather wise. Best day was Freeport and I wish we had a full day there. Better environment than Nassau which was busy and bustling and not relaxing at all. Cape Canaveral day was a b. Lots of walking.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for by TomY

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We have an 11.5 year old and a 13 year old. The 12-14 group was good, but they wouldn't let our 11.5 year old in the older group with his brother "fer liegahl reezunz". The 11 year old was not interested in the 9-11 group's build-a-bear workshop, just wanted to do cool scavenger hunt stuff with the older brother. If you're in a similar situation, delay your trip until your child is older. Carnival needs to enforce the rules and keep kids without parents out of the hot tub. Jumping, splashing, yelling, diving, like it's a big bathtub. And the adult-only hot tub isn't big enough. Took 2-2.5 hours to check-in, standing in line. 45 minutes for security, then another 1.5 hours to check in. Why not have us arrive to the port at predesignated times (2:00, 2:15, 2:30, etc), instead of having us all show up at once, then wait for you to checkin 400 people per 15 mins? I've heard of that done at theme parks for rollercoasters. Why not for cruises? Should have gone straight to anchor off Miami, no ports of call or passports. Port Canaveral was a cold construction site (btw there's a FREE shuttle to Coco beach that's not widely advertised, don't pay for the $10/person bus), Nassau was dirty, plus required a $41 cab ride to a beach, and Freeport was next to cargo/container ships and a quarry. The "straw market" had too many zeroes on their prices. Why pay $5 for a 50c bracelet? Because you can enjoy the art of bargaining them down to $3? It's still a 50c bracelet. Why not go somewhere convenient or warm instead? Ask these places to put a beach/snorkeller park next to the port - don't require me to spend more money to enjoy the place I just paid dearly to get to.

Not amazing, not bad by DK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

First of all, the ship's artwork was overwhelming. I don't mind nudity here and there, but all of the wallpaper was of nude women and babies of the Renaissance style. I didn't like looking at it in every hallway, every elevator, pretty much everywhere. Second, the shows were probably comparable to other cruise ships, but the other entertainment was not that amazing. Although they filled most of the time slots in the day with events, 15 minute trivia brought to you by a guy and a boom box is not that exciting 5 times a day. I used to a be a Resident Advisor in college and we could put better programs on then they did for the small entertainment side. Second, I really like sports and fitness, and although they had VERY NICE treadmills and a few free group fitness classes, the jogging track was VERY small and always crowded with putt-putt extras. Ping pong was nice when you didn't have to wait an hour to play. The basketball courts were always busy, and their "volleyball tournament" was a joke. The comedy shows, however, were pretty good. We liked 2 of the 4 comedians on board, and there were about 2 shows per night. The food was probably by far the best thing on board, with tons of healthy options and other options available, even sushi. The dining room staff was also excellent, although we had anytime dining (we liked it) but sometimes had to wait a bit to be served. The biggest complaint, however, is that there were too many sea days. We take FOREVER to get to the bahamas, then spend 1.5 of the 7 days there, then truck back home at lightening speed. What a ripoff, I guess they just want us to spend more money at the casino and on their stupid bingo.

Mediocre experience by MoiraR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Ship headed to dry dock; sailed with broken propeller 75% of voyage; Having my table shake and rattle at meals is horrid! Staff, largely uneducated to their departments; Carnival is not TECH SAVY for the 2000's....get with it~~~

Go with Royal by Stevek11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my seventh cruise and first with Carnivial, I will never sail with them again. Pay extra and go with Royal. Could not wait to get home. Purchased soda cards for around 70 dollars each and they never had any diet sprite nor could you find a bar that had soda and forget breakfast and lunch as bartender would ignore you once he knew you had a soda card

First and Last experience on a cruise by SangeethaK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Vegetarian food is a big problem. Not much choices. Requested for non-spicy Indian food and not a single day we got it. They do not supply toothpaste, body cream or any of the supplies you are used to in a regular hotel. At the time of booking we let them know that we are celebrating a birthday and an anniversary on the cruise with exact days of celebration....not a single wish, surprise or even a mention of any kind.

A great time for first time cruisers by TomP3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our first cruise and we had a very nice time. We took our parents for their 50th and found that we were able to both enjoy one another's company but also have our own space when needed. The balcony room was a pleasant expeirence, and we would not cruise any other way. Cruise director was fun. Comedy club was enjoyable.

Awful, just awful by TraceyP1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a terrible time on this boat. First, when we got to the room, we found long black hairs on the bed. My hair is blonde and my boyfriends is short. We called to have the room cleaned again but still found a hotdog bun under the bed and the hairdryer was covered in grease. At the restaurant one evening, the arm of my chair fell off and scratched my arm. The staff didn't even offer me another chair or apologize!!! Neither did anyone at the front desk. Terrible all around

Everything was great from the time I entered the Carnival Pride Ship to the time I left. The atmosphere from the ships team made each day from the shows, dinners, buffet, casino an enjoyable vacation.
