bad boarding experience by frankcats

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I've taken 10 cruises, this by far was the worst boarding experience of all of them, I'm not sure whether it was a carnival issue or a Baltimore issue, but it makes me want to stay away from both of them

This was our first cruise and it was OK.  There were too many charges outside of the cruise cost.  Drinks should be included, as well as internet, as well as more expensive food entrees.

Bermuda cruise by Cruiser592

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

Our cabin steward, Asep, was the best.  He greeted us by name every time he saw us.  Furthermore, each time we exited the cabin, we came back to a fresh room.  Asep also checked in on me since I felt a little sea sickness after the first night.  He was very accommodating by even getting us a power chord so that we could have extra outlets for our chargers.  I would prefer to cruise on any ship where he would be our steward again.  The comedy shows were great, as well as the food.

Advertised as a family cruise but not the best choice for any children under two by beckah79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I booked this cruise because I was told it was great for families. My family consists of five children ages 15, 13, 10, 9, and a 1 year old. The repa spoke great of the camps. We booked it. However, upon arrival we learned that the camp is for children 2 and older. They did offer a paying day care, but it was only between 8-10a, 3-5p and 10p-1a. I always missed the morning day care and when I tried dropping her off in the afternoon, there was a family activity that required an adult present for my 9 & 10 year olds. I was not able to relax like I planned and like I wished. My older children were able to enjoy themselves. Great cruise if you traveling with teens, not great if traveling with children under two.

Disappointing by wvcappy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

After a late departure w/ the understanding that we would be missing 2 out of 3 ports, we would receive a 50% refund & 50% off next cruise......and then we received the "refund",  This is not to include the $800+ in port fees & taxes. .Apparently  even though we stopped at 2 ports. i.e. 2 ports in the Bahamas, which are basically the same, and the ship had to pay extra for staying longer in the Nassau port ...........NONE of this was the passengers fault, doesn't the ship have to accept some responsibility & financial fault??????  This was a long awaited 1st cruise for 3 sisters & we will NOT be using our small refund for another cruise when Carnival accepts little to no responsibility.

Mostly good a few disappointments by pookie03

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Getting into park in Baltimore was a little frustrating.  I think some traffic directors could have helped.  Once we got in and parked it was much smoother.  We had priority boarding and that was wonderful.  Got right on the ship and had a drink in the atrium lounge.  It was very late by the time we got in but everyone was so glad to be there.  We found an old friend Coco in the dining room wait staff and was very happy to see her.  I was disappointed that there was no trivia in the Red Frog Lounge.  I have been on a previous cruise and loved this particular activity.  I spoke to Steve the cruise director and he said corporate decided not to do it.  Food was mostly good.  A few things I would not get again, but their appetizers are really good.  Two nights I had them for dinner.  The breakfast buffet was getting a little boring.  I think they need to jazz that up.  Guy's burgers are the best for lunch!!!~!!

Good by karenhofland

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I have been on many cruises and it just seems like they need to give things a fresh look and feel.  Everything seemed so dated and tired, from the corny games they play and they haven't even changed the questions in 27 years.  Would be interested in new ports of call or updated ships.  Staff was pleasant.

Too much for too little! by whites5371

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Carnival has been under scrutiny over recent years and I believe it is affecting what and how they provide.   I had many issues with this trip!  There food was awful, and very skimpy at dinner!  I pretty much lived in pizza for the entire week.  The bathroom had a hidious smell the entire time which no one could explain on top of not flushing properly or flushing by itself at times.  My daughter caught a virus while on board, the 5th day into the cruise which was circulating around the ship.  She had severe vommiting and a high fever for 3 days and as if that weren't enough one of the engines was not working properly and the whole one side of the boat shook violently and was so loud you couldn't stand it resulting in and extra day at sea!  We pre paid for spa treatments prior to the trip and they credited the pre paid amount back and charged us $80 more on our sails and sign bill which I'm still trying to get settled!!!  I have sailed with Carnival in the past and it was great, definitely gone down hill!  I will prob never sail with them again!

Carnival Journey on the Carnival Pride by LetsGoCaps

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were blessed with 12 days of wonderful weather.  Loved the ports and loved the ship.  We had a great time.  The staff and service were amazing.  I have never seen so many winners in the Casino.  The shows were all great.

Wonderful Two Weeks by Gszboyd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Cruising out of Baltimore March 13th, this 14-day 8 -island trip was more than could be expected. The service aboard the ship was as we expected - great!

Only negatives were the long line and time it took to check in, and some of the entertainments was not as good as we've seen before on the Pride.

But I've discovered that two-weeks at sea is perfect - twice as nice as the one-week and it's over before you sneeze cruises.

My journey by fordford17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was my first experience on Carnival.   Previous to this trip I took many voages on anther line.  Last Time we were on that line, many things went wrong and none of the issues were addressed.  So after many years with the same line, we made a decision to change lines.

We were overall pleased with everything,  the only comments, I would make is that I think there should be a Grab

Bar in the shower.  Aslo on the food side of things you have an excellent deli, but no chips, and there are none availabe in your stores, except pringles which we do not consider chps.

All in all it was a wonderful trip and we are planning our next trip.

AWESOME ITINERARY by Deniseg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We chose this cruise because it went to 8 islands, 5 of which we had never been to before. We loved it. We loved the ship, the crew, the food, everything. I was worried about the American Table because of all the negative reviews. Turns out that it wasn't bad at all really. Each night I found something that I liked. I was, however, not thrilled about the no tablecloth thing going on. I don't like my silverware laying on a bare table plus the glasses sweat and water gets all over the table. Another nicety that is gone is the putting the napkin on your lap. None of these things ruined my vacation by a long shot it's just that one by one, they are missing. We still had a wonderful time by far. Because this was a "Journeys" cruise, meaning 9 days or longer, it had a few added features. It had live Caribbean music on lido, the Captain's ball white glove affair complete with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. They were delish. It also had the spectacular midnight buffet. It was all that I remembered it to be from 2008. The last time I saw it. They also had 3 formal nights and 2 were lobster, much to our surprise. This ship had a Guy's Burger joint. Two words.....Pig Patty!!! Oh lord, I knew I should have gotten my blood work done before this vacation. It is a patty of BACON on a burger. Blue Iguana Cantina, another good stop. They are open for breakfast and lunch that I know of. You can built your own burrito. We went to David's Steakhouse for dinner the 1st night because you get a free bottle of wine then. Dinner measured up to my expectations. I had lobster and escargots.  There were plenty of comedians. We went to a couple shows and loved them. We also took in a show at the Dive In movies. It was March so they offer you blankets with Dive In Movies embroidered on them. I found out too late that you can buy them. I will do that on our cruise next year. We got an obstructed view balcony which I will never do again. We usually get a regular or premium balcony. This time I wanted to be next to my family and that's what they got. I learned the hard way that there are not any upgrades to these. The balcony is narrower than others so it was crowded. Again, it did not ruin my cruise but never again.  All in all this was a great ship. I would definitely sail Pride again.

Winter Getaway by EasyRider

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was our fourth cruise on the Carnival Pride. The embarkation and debarkation was very smooth and without hassle. The entire ship's crew were very friendly and eager to engage with us. The ship was clean and well maintained. The only noticeable decline from our past cruises with Carnival was the food quality and temperature of the food served.  The entertainment did not seem quite as good as it once was.

Great Cruise by swilt913

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a great time.  The service was top notch.  If you ever cruise on Carnival Pride ask for ask for I Nyoman, Supriyono and Leonard in the main dining room.  They were great.  MJ was our cabin steward and he took great care of us all week, too.

Carnival cruise by williamfplaner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The rooms were kept clean and the staff was courteous and friendly. Too much time at sea and not enough shore time. You have to pay for everything. Everything. Don't book during spring break. Don't book on spring forward daylight saving time. They took an hour from un on our last day, and woke us up an hour early the next morning; the day we returned. Evidently the staff did not reset the time when a wake up call was requested. This was confirmed by our breakfast guests.

Sailing on the Pride to the Caribbean. by nsuewalker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a very good trip on the Pride to the ports of Canaveral, Nassau, and Freeport out of Baltimore. The dining room service was excellent and the food was delicious.  Each evening there was an enjoyable show and then activities in the many bars on board.  During the day many activities were on the Lido deck near the pool.  Several dance classes were held which helped me learn some new dances.  I think the best place for many was the soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt.

Accomodating, very clean, staff was great! by tiabres

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Rosario,Brittany,Gede,Hong,(Irena and Jajo at Davids)all went beyond to provide excellent service.

Food was fresh and buffett omelet staff terrific. The Normandy had a little trouble accommodating people,we said we would sit anywhere with anyone and got overlooked for quite a while before seating. The hostess was almost rude and stated" I said 20 minutes more or less".It was around 30 min. After seating they seemed short staffed. HOWEVER overall the rest was awesome!
