GEt to know the ship before boarding, and choose your hangouts, I personally like quietness to read and write.

I was disappointed enough with the Long Beach terminal that I wouldn’t cruise from there again. Maybe if I was certain there weren’t other events clogging up the Queen Mary area. Also I just heard propulsion issues are continuing with Panorama. Wait until after the next drydock.

Wear closed toe shoes and at least a short sleeved shirt to go on Ropes Course and Sky Ride.

Learn about all the dining options and the schedules. This has way more choices than a typical cruise. Many of the free eateries are really great. Late afternoon does not have many options so try to get full during lunch.

Be opened minded when you go on the cruise. We travelled with my in laws who are at their 80s and they found the entertaining hosted by the cruise director a bit too much. They are conservative and they have cruised many times. However, during this sailing, the cruise director is very open about his sexuality. It is okay for me but not for olderly conservatives.

The elevators are crazy weird and takes time to adjust to them, and I would recommend getting your room closer to the pool cause you will be doing a ton of walking .

Be prepared to pay gratuity per person instead of per room. Sucks, that we’re a married couple and we had to pay individually.

Be aware of what you really want out of the experience … and intentionally tailor your activities to meet your wants and needs.

If you go to the comedy show, be 30 minutes early if you want a seat.

You can take one bottle of wine or champagne per person plus 1 12 pack of 12 oz cans of soda , coffee , water or energy drinks. Get involved in the ships activities. Have them take you luggage the night before returning home. Take a light bag & eat breakfast, bring a book .whatever & wait for the mad dash to get off the ship calms down.

Be patient about the lines. We all are literally on the same boat. Weather prevented us from going ashore at one stop. This made for crowds on the ship that day. A few people were in a bad mood. Rather not be around people in a bad mood, so we hung out in less populated areas or in our room until later in the day.

Study the decks before booking your room. There are some rooms that are right above or below bars, so nighttime, you may get some music playing around you
