Review summary

I love Carnival for the food. Only Holland America does it better imo. Lots of choice and variety. Mostly well prepared. We enjoyed all the restaurants. We didn’t eat in the MDR. I don’t really know why. We kept talking about it but always ended up somewhere else. I enjoyed having continental breakfast sent to the cabin most mornings. Not every order was exactly correct and timing was a little off but that was minor.

Embarkation

How long has Carnival been using this port? I don’t get the lines and confusion. They better get their act together if they’re going to add another dock. I don’t care if there’s added events in the area. Figure out your infrastructure!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
So good. Minor low moments but overall excellent. Are you paying attention Royal Caribbean?

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The spaces were too small for such a large ship. Way too many children filling both pools kept us from using them. Carnival needs an adults only pool on every ship. We did buy the spa package but the large bathtub size therapy pool was kind of a joke. Take a hint from your sister company, Holland America.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn’t see any stage shows but the live music around the ship was fantastic.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Friendly and efficient. Lots of smiles everywhere.

Ship Quality

I didn’t like the design for such a large ship with so many people. Even the public restrooms were too small. Very clean and well maintained though.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We really enjoy a cove balcony. The cabin was quite spacious and the shower was large enough that the curtain wasn’t a problem. I Kutut was our cabin attendant and he was great. The location for this cabin was very quiet. I only heard a thump from up above a couple times the whole cruise.

Ship tip

I was disappointed enough with the Long Beach terminal that I wouldn’t cruise from there again. Maybe if I was certain there weren’t other events clogging up the Queen Mary area. Also I just heard propulsion issues are continuing with Panorama. Wait until after the next drydock.

Ports of call

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Way too many sellers coming at you around the marina. I really did enjoy visiting Cabo Wabo though. For a touristy kind of place, they had great food.

La Paz, Mexico

Mismanaged port again. Maybe not Carnival’s fault but it kind of spoiled the port. I would go back and try again.

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

@willwork4cruz literally everywhere else lol. We tried all the specialty restaurants, pizza, Guy’s Burgers. JiJi’s and the steakhouse were especially good. We ate a couple meals in the buffet. Pretty good as well.

Thanks for the review. Agreed that Carnival’s food is pretty good. Where did you eat if you never went in the MDR? Yeah all California ports can be hit or miss because they are actual working ports and not just cruise ports.
