Review summary

Great family cruise so much to do on sea days & port days for all. Food is good , know where to go when you need quiet , find your spot that you like to go to for entertainment. Take chances , try new foods , do things out of the ordinary .

Embarkation

They try & do a good job honoring your arrival time and getting you on the ship swiftly. However the method they have is not the best . You have multiple areas to check in to & wait before actually boarding the ship. I am thinking with the hub app they can make this digital as well. Lots of moving from one area to the next until it’s time to board the ship.

Variety of food to choose from nightly. Staff is very accommodating of substitutions & allergies. Many types of food each night to pick from . Seafood, meat , vegan, vegetarian. Appetizers, deserts you will not leave hungry . Be prepared to be there for at least an hour and half as this takes time. Plan shows accordingly and don’t rush staff. Tip: order cheese plate as appetizer that is found on desert menu!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Always saw staff cleaning… never saw dirty dishes or plates laying around

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Cabin size was good for 2 adults & 2 teens. Upon entering room it looked clean but upon further review it hid some serious Dustin bed side cabinets, hair in drawer where hair dryer located , leftover tags in closet drawers and soiled wash rag . Also the coffee table was outside . I think for the time crew has to turn these rooms around it was the best it was going to get . I also wish sea days room service happened twice a day morning & night.

Ship tip

If you use the elevators make sure you use them correctly.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

We hit this port twice due to puerto Vallarta being cancelled by the hurricane. We enjoyed our time in Cabo once we got past the line of pushy vendors and tour operators. Day 1 we set up our tour on our own with envatours and did a clear boat tour to the arch. After we had lunch at the office then spent the afternoon on the beach . We made friends with a local and he took care of us on the beach with umbrella , chairs & drinks. Day 2 we did a catamaran & snorkel tour with carnival . It was fun snorkeling , the arch and even farther out to divorce beach . Including drinks . Great crew , informative and entertaining! Upon return we ate lunch at capt Tony’s and back to the ship.

La Paz, Mexico

This would have been a great port except it is at 30 minutes from port and the transportation provided by carnival is a nightmare. Tickets for the shuttle went quickly and it was stand by only . So We ended up taking a cab to the beach el Coromuel we met a local here and was set up with an umbrella table & chairs . After a few hours here we took the shuttle to the malecón for lunch as this was the 1st time in La Paz for carnival the town was not ready for the influx of tourists. Our lunch while delicious however the service was very slow. So slow we couldn’t see the rest of the port as the lunch for the shuttle wrapped around the building.

Mazatlan, Mexico

Here we did a pulmonĂa tour with a city tots pulmonĂa , we went on a tour of the city , to the market, to lunch at an amazing shrimp restaurant la puntilla, a resort to swim in a pool & beach. We had a great driver junior who was very informative and kept us entertained all day .

Disembarkation

Self disembark with passport is the way to go . We were off ship by 930.

I'm doing the Mexican Riviera trip which I've never done. Does the ship go out far enough where you can't see the shore? My wife has never been on a cruise, as this will be her first.
