Review summary

Very relaxing and a lot of fun. It is a cruise I would do again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our first time as a platinum and it was very smooth. The check in was fast. We got there 10 minutes before our check in time and we were waved forward. Little to no lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining rooms had wonderful food… highly recommend. The level of food and service made this cruise feel like a special experience that we don’t get anywhere but on a carnival cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My wife and son had a great time on the sky ride and the bridge course. Due to a weight limit of 250 lbs on the sky ride and 265lbs limit on the bridge course I was not able to try them. Both rides required shorts or pants, and a top that fits under the shoulders straps. The wait was long on the first day, but very quick during dinner time. Oh ya one other thing make sure you have closed toe shoes because my wife only brought sandals and we had to buy her shoes so she could enjoy the rides. FYI The water slides have a weight limit of 265lbs also. My wife loved the slide with the inner tube she said it was a lot of fun. The putt putt is always fun. There is a lot of fun things to do on this ship.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Did not go to any of them. But heard from the people we sat at the dinner table with said they loved the piano bar. We chose not to go due to the large crowds at them with only standing room only if you get there at the last minute. Plan ahead.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Son was at club O2 everyday. He made friends and could not get enough. He said this was his best cruise so far. The only thing is for all minors they have a 1am curfew. Not sure if they enforce it but we did.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Cruise Director Dione was positively awesome. Omar is in charge of the serving staff and made everyone feel special. The room steward Jo was quick to help with what we needed. The daily greetings we got from the cruise staff added to the experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout was easy to learn. The elevators are different than other ships. You don’t just push an up or down arrow. On this ship you pick the floor you want to go to and it tells you what elevator to go to. It is easy after the first few times you use it. We had the deluxe room this time and it had two showers. It made getting ready easier. Great ship to spend a week on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved our deluxe room on the first floor. We could see the waves out our window. One traditional bathroom and a second bathroom with a tub and sink. Less stress with getting ready throughout the day.

Ship tip

Be patient about the lines. We all are literally on the same boat. Weather prevented us from going ashore at one stop. This made for crowds on the ship that day. A few people were in a bad mood. Rather not be around people in a bad mood, so we hung out in less populated areas or in our room until later in the day.

Ports of call

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went to the public beach right as you get off the ship. Mostly locals there, further you walk down the less people there was. There were place’s offering chairs and sun umbrella for a cost. We then took a taxi to downtown to see the Gallery Dante. Absolutely beautiful pieces of art. The drive there passed through downtown and the scenic sites. Cost for 3 people was $15 each way. If you don’t already speak Spanish, suggest learning the basic phrases. Also have a little local currency for small purchases. Walmart is a short walk from the ship. Prices are significantly less for souvenirs. The clothing sizes are smaller than U.S. clothing sizes.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
We walked the blue line. It’s across the road from the port. The line goes through a residential neighborhood then pass some shops to a beautiful central plaza. When you don’t see the blue line on the ground look up for a street signs pointing the way to the line. A historic church is a couple streets away off the blue line. The blue line has security along it. It is a big city and not a tourist town like the previous port stop. The blue line helps to keep you away from the cartels controlled areas. The line is there to keep you in safe area if your walking.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Way easy. We went to our designated area at the designated time and got off the ship within 30 minutes. The fastest time we ever disembarked a ship.

Awesome review and great tips! Yes Carnival has great food but so do some other cruise lines. Don’t be afraid of trying other lines.

We loved this cruise. I personally liked Mazatlan better than Puerta Vallarta.
